Two young riders perish at MoA while resting at the sidewalk, a drunk driver without license caused the accident

Wheels of Happiness

Two cyclists were killed when a van ran over them at MoA while the two were resting at sidewalk.   One  died on the spot while the other was rushed to the hospsital but eventually  died.

The offender was a Toyota Hiace driven by a teen ager who had no license and looked drunk.  It was alleged that just like other automatics, the driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the  brake while executing a U turn.

Needless accident.   While you try to be careful, others are not.

Condolence to the family of the deceased.  Prayers and may both of them be blessed so much by the Lord.  and rise safe in heaven

Painful accident for Xian de la Cruz of Nueva Ecija at stage 2 of Ronda in Bicol

Wheels of Happiness

It is not happiness but pain, thus experienced Xian de la Cruz of the Nueva Ecija team in the 2nd stage, team trial of Ronda 2022.   It may mark the  end of the cycling career of said rider who quit school just to train for the Ronda.  So far, the hospital bill is at P300K so far and the  Ronda organizer will  put up 50% or P150K, with the other half being charged to the jeepney driver whose jeep collided with the rider (the rider flew high up  in the air as seen in the video.

The question now is who is at fault:?  The local news said the cyclists were travelling fast (it is a time trial and maybe the locals do not understand the event, and that it si the riders who counterflowed (correct)

While the project manager of the  event, a lady has all ready made statements that this is an accident that is common on all sports, the organizer has spared no effort to make this safe.

Clearly there was no marshall;  the ronda probably lacked marshall  and should have made the public road safe for the time trial  It was not safe.

This echoes the observation of the father of Xian.   It can be avoided and painful accidents like this can be avoided if not prevented.

7 days met accident at Bugarin today this morning

Wheels of Happiness

At Rizal Philippines
January 8, 2018

At about 12.00 noon I was at Hacienda Pisong Kape restaurant and Chris, the owner told me that one of
our kapadyak met accident at Bugarin - he was bumped by a careless MC rider and had to be brought to Tanay Gen Hopsital.

Thinking that he might be well all ready, I passed by his house in Cardona (almost 2 pm, ang init) and found out that he was not yet home. He was waiting for his turn at the X ray (just to be sure he has no broken bones)

I am confident that Ed will be none for the worse.   Ang mabuting damo, ay binabantayan ng Lord.

Get well Ed

Site of the Panda bus accident yesterday was in Sampaloc Tanay?

Wheels of Happines

Image result for deaths from Tanay outing accident

According to hearsays, the site of the Panda bus that crashed into a post yesterday, killing 15 people took place in Sampaloc Tanay, probably in its steepest portion.   We all struggle climbing that portion from Km 65 to 69.   Near the anti magnetic, a lot of accidents happen I too crashed in that area.

Let us be careful kapadyak when we bike at Sampaloc, especially when descending.  where our speed could reach 50+ kph.

As one Scandinavian senior rider from Antipolo City said (I happened to ride with him to Sierra Madre several years back, he said that Sampaloc is not for human beings.  It is only for animals  like horses and carabaos.

(K)night riding and without helmet is really really dangerous

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
January 21 2017

Image result for bicycle accident

Last night I saw a man with a BMX bike sprawled on the street near Bahay Kawayan - unconscious.  .  He seemed to have figured in a collision with some MC riders  He had no lights, reflectors, nor reflective clothing.   Earlier they were riding side by side with the Jeepney I was riding, overtaking the jeep.

I hope his injury is not serious (nothing on the head)  He could have avoided riding at night, avoided the MC riders (who are uneducated on proper riding and road safety) used a helmet, and wore clothes or anything that would make him visible

Natuloy ride to Majayjay August 28 to 29 2016; 4 Recyclists completed the ride

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
August 30, 2016

National Heroes day everyone.   (We celebrated this yesterday)

Yesterday, 4 of us, Jeff, Angel Gerry (he met an accident though in Morong - he was bumped at high speed in Namay Morong and his beloved bike was crushed, - the rear wheel and the RD were bent) the planned long weekend ride to Majayjay.   Armin and the MTB biked since Saturday to Atimonan and we met them Saturday at 10:30 Sunday in Paete.

It was raining at 5:00 still, but I still went to the appointed place and time at Jollibee and only Jeff, who is from Majayay, the host was there at 6:00  Then Vhen came and off we went.  We were joined by Alan in Pag asa and later by Gerry in Tayuman.  That was about 6:30

We arrived at 7:40 in Pililla, the first pit stop and at 8:00 + we rode up to Bugarin.  Angel was there at Manang;s food store/resto. It was about 8:40   Alan and Vhen begged. off.   And we rode down Bugarin to Famy.  No further stop was made.  We were in Pagsanjan by about 10:40  It was kind of slow ride but Jeff said relax we have the whole day to ride.

We were in Cavinti by 12:00 and in Luisina by 1:00 pm We arrived in Lucban by 2:00' we went ,marketing and were in Majayjay by 3:00 pm at Bo Bitaoy.  At 4:30 we went to Taytay falls for sightseeing (for me to experience the place.  We were done seeing the place by 6:30 and were back at 6:30.  Each of us had to spend P60.00 to see the place - P40.00 for the tricycle ride and P20.00 for the entrance fee.  It was worth the trouble.  We ate dinner at 7:00.  From there on till 9:00 we shared Empi light and slept soundly till 4:00 am  yesterday.

What really happened to the accident of Ado Gonzaga

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines    |  January 14, 2015

Do you remember our Majayjay ride which Ado Gonzaga did not join?  He met an accident.   Reports reaching us were sketchy.

I met him today at the church yard in Antipolo and his wife.  He said this what happened.

He was going downhill and he avoided a head on collision.  As he was going down at high speed, his bike 7"d (rear wheel slid under him) and as he tried to recover, his chain jumped from the cogs and jammed the wheel causing sudden stop.  He sommersaulted, hit with the back on the pavement.  It was good he held on to his helmet.   His spyder helmet was wrecked totally, and his pump saved his back -- it cushioned his fall, however it left a heavy dent on his back.

He stopped biking for a month, and is now very careful when negotiating downhill. (I do now. We all should ride safe

What was the news about Ado yesterday? He crashed in Antipolo at the one way portion

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines  |  October 6, 2014

The trademark long hair of Ado; the back of the helmet, according to the text to Master was destroyed.

Ado did not join the ride today to Majayjay.  The trio (este quarter - this includes Abet Verchez) Richard, Jericho and Ado had some appointments and errand.

They are happy they did not experience our pain? But they lacked the experience.  Ado at the center (now you are becoming superstition.  Masama 3 sa pic at nasa gitna ha6)

However, while in Majayjay, there were text messages saying that Ado met accident in Antipolo;  he crashed at the one way portion and the back of his helmet was totalled.

There was a huge traffic jam at Kaytikling today due to an accident

Wheels of Happiness

 Rizal, Philippines  |  May 27, 2014

I biked to Antipolo City leaving at 6:00 am.  There was however a huge traffic jam at Kaytikling.  Going up to Antipolo until near Palmera was a problem,  and from Fibertex down to that area was tied up.  Reason, a ten wheeler truck slammed into a group of houses.  It may have lost brakes and reversed into the houses.  There were hearsays of death.

At the time I passed, a concrete bulk transporter was in the middle of the road, apparently requested to tow the 10 wheeler.  Fortunately for me, I was able to get back to Kaytikling without much problem.  I counterflowed despite the fact that maybe a hundred vehicles were on hold because of the huge 10 wheeler truck (a flatbed bearing sand)

I started going down at 7:00 am and was home at 7:25

The carbon fiber wheel of VM was damaged; the damage affected the braking

VM could not ride the Colnago anymore because of the damaged wheel

We had two casualties yesterday in the ride to Tagaytay city:   VMs carbon fiber wheels and a fellow driver who showed signs of heat stroke:  he vomitted after reaching Tagaytay.

As for VM hitting a MC, there could be no expert on this. VM rear ended an MC near Sucat when the young rider turned left without signalling:  hand or light.  His front wheel got stuck between the wheel and muffler and he could utter was "Sorry po" VM landed on his rear seat and his bike stuck up with the rear end up.   He had a flesh wound at the shin and it could be painful

A very durable and strong bike - Trek Domane

Real Cyclists

Angono, Rizal   PHL   |  October 7, 2013

Carbon fiber bikes are really strong;  but dont you think that its structure is now weak?Trek should include this in their history books!

We saw an accident involving a car and a bike at Binangonan yesterday just before 7 am (near the Pajara heavy equipment depot) and it was sort of freak;  the car front was ripped off and was over the bike a very expensive latest Trek Domane (the one used by Cancellara)  The bike was still standing tall after being run over by the car.  (See photo)  Trek should be proud of the result of this accident

The bike owner was inconsolable;  he said the bike cost him P300,000 and he wants the whole bike replaced.  The car driver owner was not speaking.

And I told the crowd, maybe the vehicle drivers - jeepney, tricycles, truck think that we ride cheap stuff.  They would be surprised how expensive they could be.  It is a fair warning to drivers and can owners who think bikers are lowlife.

See how the bike ripped off the fender and the bumper (Hahaha the car bumped the bike -  you!!)

The Tarmac bike saying hello to the injured Domain;  that is Armin with Tarmac

Other bikers sympathizing, or simply UZI - Richard and Armin

Richard's jersey colors and that of Domane are the same

Armin and Richard feared that they smiled for this shot;  they did! (no empathy for the Trek Domane and its owner...)

The accident created a huge traffic mess; many are wondering how come the bike was still standing tall?!  It looked as if the bike ripped the front of the car....

Several close shave with accidents for Recylists today!

Real Cyclists

Angono, Rizal  PHL  |  August 25, 2013

Three of us had close shave (encounter) with accidents today:

1.  Richard at Darangan nearly collided with a tricycle.  The tricycle headed for him straight on and with his evasive action, he and the tricycle had  few inches to spare.

2.  Tito avoided an AUV at Morong and he grazed he the AUV, he found himself at a ditch.  The AUV just turned right where Tito was passing (he did not look at his mirror)

3.  A blue elf which was travelling fast nearly sideswiped me;  it missed by just two inches. I was avoiding an obstruction and the elf came barrelling from left and did not bother to slow down nor avoid me.

Thanks God;  He still loves us and we are safe

We just have to be careful and pray for them to be careful too

Accident at Paliparan rd - a brand new pick up turned belly up!

Real Cyclists

Angono, Rizal   |  July 30, 2013

We saw an accident along the bike route last Sunday at Paliparan road about a kilometer away from the corner opposite an indie gasoline station(I could not remember the name). A brand new pick up turned turtle.  It must have been totalled.

Several other pick ups (Ranger etc) were near the accident site.  They would be probably have been travelling at a convoy and traveling at high speed and maybe avoided a vehicle going to or exiting the gasoline station.  The avoidance maneuver, I suppose must have caused the pick up to flip upside down.

I did not take picture because the accident picture may instill negative images in the minds of the reader, Recyclists.

The vehicle was gone by 12 noon when we went down from Tagaytay

This Isuzu Forward, loaded with young coconuts, lost brake and fell off the road

Real Cyclists

Bugarin, Pililla, Rizal  PHL   |  May 12, 2013

Only one buko was left;  it was full of young coconuts when it hurtled off the road.

As I was biking down Bugarin, I saw that some railings were missing.   I noted that a truck was lying on its side off the road.  I inquired and learned that it was loaded with young coconuts (buko) lost its brakes and ditched off the road.  Its cargo of buko was stolen.

Reminder for us to always pray and be careful as we ride.

You would not notice that there was an accident

Ingat lagi, careful as we bike

Ride Carefully, "Iwasang Mangaliwa!!?"

Bike and Save the Earth

It is unfortunate that as we bike to commemorate the passion of the Lord, one of our fellow bikers met an accident.  He descended too fast at Cardona (we told it is easy riding) overtook a vehicle on a double yellow lane portion, and met a tricycle going up also at a fast clip.  In order to avoid hitting the tricycle and being hit by the vehicle he overtook, our companion swerved to the right (NANGALIWA, KUMALIWA!?) He braked, the rear wheel slid under him and hit the nearly foot high gutter.  He broke his fork, blew his front tire.  He had some injuries though:  his face and lips were swollen;  his earlobes and nose bled.  But they were minor though. HE WAS WEARING A HELMET AND A SAFETY EYE WEAR.

He was wearing a helmet;  he had minor injuries

The fuck one, fuck all spirit;  we had to see if he is ok?

Where it happened; let us pray and be careful always as we ride

Master stressing, "huwag manga2liwa" even pointing to the double yellow lane marks!

He had to ride home though and was accompanied by Angel.

We visited him on the way home and he was OK.  Only a wounded pride.

Chito, Gerry and Armin examining the damaged wheel

Ben, Chito, the damaged wheel and Gerry

Archie, Luis, VM and Ben at Gerry,s resthouse

                                        Gerry and JorgeusBiker

Master examining the fork;  you have to get a new one - HUWAG MANGA2LIWA!

That is Luis peeping;  many guys said hello sa nangaliwa?

Would he be able to join the Sunday's Real Ride?  Maybe no because his bike is a doubtful starter because his fork is broken (could we offer him spoon hahaha?!) VM would lend him a Colnago look alike?

But get the message from the Master Edwin, "HUWAG MANGANGALIWA"  Ride carefully.

Be alert and ready.

l.  Descend at a safe speed;

2.  No overtaking at a section marked with double yellow paint.

3.  Avoid overtaking large vehicles while descending;  it will make you overspeed and lose control;

4.  And ''HUWAG MANGANGALIWA;  DELIKADO!"

5.  Do not assume that other motorists will treat you differently or give you right of way just because of your being a biker.  We are on the same level on the road food chain as road kill animals and pedestrians.  Be aware that he will not give you any headroom or inch or a wide berth.  He will do crazy things and you must be alert and ready.

Ride carefully.  Pray always.  Wear your helmet always for your protection.  Had our colleague not worn his helmet, we would not have conversed with him now.
