The proposed ride to Kay Biang in Ternate Cavite (boundary of Cavite Batangas tunnel) did not materialize today because of the non stop rains since last night. As for me, I had lbm; had 3 before I left, had another one at Sacred Heart Church.
I came across a group of Fixie riders (4) in front of Grandspan. One had a flat, and could not fix it since they do not have portable pump. I waited for them and said they would just tag along towards Bugarin. But since they have superior gear ratios, they left me at Pantok..
It was my hard gear today, and tried to ride up hills, including Montevideo and Callahan at 44 x 17. It was hard and I had to stand. Near the entrance of diversion, I saw Jeff, Alan and Pres Luis having a drink/snacks. They said they came all ready from Pisong Kape. (I started about 7:30 all ready). It was 9:30 all ready. Gerry they said and another one went up Bugarin and said they would wait for Gerry Then Edgard came and he said he would bike to Morong to buy a capacitor for his aircon motor. The shop was closed today or could have transferred to Sumulong St. We split ways near the old municipal hall and I turned back going home. The trio were no longer there when I reached the former spot where I met them.
Was home by 11:00 am

The long ride to Majayjay, Laguna, was completed yesterday staged by again Magnificent Six: Pres Luis, Jeff Arquiza, Allan Astorga, Gerry Cataps, Angel Balubar, and yours truly. This was just 7 days after the Jariel's peak ride Infanta,Quezon. Jess and Peter did not make it this time: Angel and Gerry were the subs.
August 26, 2017
We pushed through with this despite the fact that it was still raining by 4 am; it rained hard from 5 pm until 4 am Sunday. But I bought a rain coat which marked my determination to join rain or no rain.
It was a two days journey, so Jeff advised us to just have just a riding pace. We assembled at 6:00 at Sacred Heart Church in Tayuman. We left at 6:30 and were in Pisong Kape (Tia Carmen's) at 8:00. Next stop was at Pagsanjan at 10:00. I thought I would quit at some 4.5 km from Pagsanjan at the widened portion of the highway. There were no more trees and it was very hot. We rested for some 15 minutes(except Jeff and Alan). But we resumed, tiis and tiyaga were the keywords. We lunched at Luisiana by 12:00 and we were in Majayjay by a little past 3. Prior to that, four of us Angel, Gerry, Pres Luis had bibingka some 3km before Luisiana. Here we met MTB rider Leonard Cequena and company. There were 3 of them. Nag abot din kami sa lunch sa Luisiana. Tiyak gagabihin sila kung balikan sila. They left 6 Pililla and that meant 6 hours na sila sa road (not including from Binangonan to Pililla) So if they leave at Lucban at 2 pm. For a fast rate of 6 hours, they would be home by 8:00 or 9 pm
We passed at the short cut in Luisiana at theY instead of passing at the Lucban 603 highway. It must have saved us about 5 km and 20 minutes of ride. After about 2 km of ascent, it was all going downhill. After buying food and some drinks we proceeded to the house of the parents of Jeff at Barangay Bitaoy. His parents happily welcomed us. And even prepared lunch. But we were still full.
At 4 pm we took a short tricycle ride to Goyamalinao resort. We took some Lambanog shot with cucumber as pulutan. Then some bather watching and 4 of us: Jeff,Alan, Gerry and Angel took a dip. Pres Luis and I did not since di kami sanay maligo after a hard labor. The cold may enter our body, since we all ready rested and no longer perspiring. At about 6:30 we walked back home.
At the corner store, we bought crackers,4 red horse large for the evening fellowship. We had some shakes too and learned of the siling demonyo (reported to be 10x more potent than siling labuyo..Then we had dinner of rice and ampalaya con egg. At about 7, we had the fellowship.
There was a medical emergency in the house. The father of Jeff unexpectedly had hbp and was dizzy and nauseous. A neighbor nurse was called in and after taking the medication, we all settled down.
August 27, 2017
After breakfast, we left at about 6:30 am for Lucban, Kamay ni Hesus religious shrine. We had picture2 with Mt Banahaw as the background Then we stopped by the church of Lucban. But the road from Majayjay to Lucban was peppered by steep ascents. My 32 sprocket was all ready working this time (Yesterday, the roller was rubbing into the spokes) and after adjusting the low and high adjustment screw, the roller worked ok this time. Then we went to the Kamay ni Hesus shrine. That was about 8:00 am We were only allowed to stay stop/park at the Virgin Mary Shrine. So more pictures. We left at about 9:00 for home And the way home we passed by the diversion. We saved some minutes from the traffic and narrow road, but the route seemed longer by about 5 km. This time I kept pace with the group until midway in Lumban. But was still together with Gerry and Angel. We were at Pagsanjan by 10:30. We arrived at Mabitac by 12:00 and had lunch there. I had plapla and rice. With the softdrinks, the lunch set me back by P85.00 The plapla was P50.00 (small)
We were at Pisong Kape by about 1:30. It was struggle to ride up Bugarin because it was high noon and the sun was beating hard on us. Angel and I did 2 stops (keeping in mind that something bad could happen like a sun/heat stroke) At the last stop near the dreaded Balite Tree, at the fruit stands, I bought 2 kgs worth of Marang and guyabano.
Then more rides going home some 30 km to go. This time, there were no untoward incident. Last time, Gerry was bumped by a tricycle and his wheel (rear was wrecked) at Morong. Pres Luis, and Jeff waited for us at URS and were togehter until Pantok where we were separated by traffic. It rained at Tagpos and I had the opportunity to wear the rain coat I bought specially for this ride. I was home by 4:30. Whew, back ached and the butt too for the distance traveled. 200 km back and forth, 100 km one way

August 30, 2016
National Heroes day everyone. (We celebrated this yesterday)
Yesterday, 4 of us, Jeff, Angel Gerry (he met an accident though in Morong - he was bumped at high speed in Namay Morong and his beloved bike was crushed, - the rear wheel and the RD were bent) the planned long weekend ride to Majayjay. Armin and the MTB biked since Saturday to Atimonan and we met them Saturday at 10:30 Sunday in Paete.
It was raining at 5:00 still, but I still went to the appointed place and time at Jollibee and only Jeff, who is from Majayay, the host was there at 6:00 Then Vhen came and off we went. We were joined by Alan in Pag asa and later by Gerry in Tayuman. That was about 6:30
We arrived at 7:40 in Pililla, the first pit stop and at 8:00 + we rode up to Bugarin. Angel was there at Manang;s food store/resto. It was about 8:40 Alan and Vhen begged. off. And we rode down Bugarin to Famy. No further stop was made. We were in Pagsanjan by about 10:40 It was kind of slow ride but Jeff said relax we have the whole day to ride.
We were in Cavinti by 12:00 and in Luisina by 1:00 pm We arrived in Lucban by 2:00' we went ,marketing and were in Majayjay by 3:00 pm at Bo Bitaoy. At 4:30 we went to Taytay falls for sightseeing (for me to experience the place. We were done seeing the place by 6:30 and were back at 6:30. Each of us had to spend P60.00 to see the place - P40.00 for the tricycle ride and P20.00 for the entrance fee. It was worth the trouble. We ate dinner at 7:00. From there on till 9:00 we shared Empi light and slept soundly till 4:00 am yesterday.

Jeff, Angel and Val rode to Baguio Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Black Saturday
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines April 5, 2015

A glorious Happy Easter Greeting to all
Angel rode with us today and we just learned that their trio: Val, Jeff, and he rode to Baguio during the long holidays
On the first day Thursday, they rode to Asingan. Since they had only two stops, they were at Asingan by 3:30. They were in Angeles by 10 am and had lunch at Dau (where we had lunch)
/They left for Baguio at 6 am on Good Friday and arrived at Baguio City by 2 pm (just about our pace). By 4 pm, they descended for Asingan.
They went home at 4 pm and would probably be in Asingan by nightfall. They rode home yesterday, and arrived about 8 pm last night.
Let us thank the Lorda for their safe return

Our reward on ride to #Majayjay - hearty meal of sinigang and okra with #bagoong- thanks to Ma and Pa of Jeff
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines | October 6, 2014
VM, Chito Jerry, Joel and Master battle the rice adn the sinigang. At ang nagwagi.....?
Our reward in riding up to Majayjay, 100 km + and 6 hours ride was the feast at the house of Jeff. His ma and pa prepared sinigang na baboy, steamed okra, plenty of hot rice, and bagoong for the 20 or so hungry and tired Recyclists.
We had to wait out the rain from 12 to 12:30 before proceeding to Jeff's house . We took some biscuits and softdrinks at the corner store to stave off our hunger and thirst. Nolite who had his usual binalot and Mario, the MTB friend of Angel, did not join the feast.
Miong, Vec, I and Mario were at this corner store and we bought softdrinks and biscuit
Resting 1 km from Jeff's place
Val, Jerry and Ven
Waiting for the rain to go away; no rains at Kalayaan up to Angono; it always rains in Majayjay?
Edgar is all smiles as he arrives at Jeff's place.
Gerry arrives
Miong climbs the 14 steps going up to Jeff's parents house
The road leading up to Jeff's parents house
Jeff had pasalubong - garden tomato (the salad) type.
Thank you Jeff and Ms.
Pres Luis focuses on his meal
Fat and thin: Gerry Y and Angel (this made him recover?}
Miong, Jess and Gerry: discussing how to get home after the meal
We left at 1:30 in order to beat the time; we estimated that at the that rate; we would arrive at 8:30 pm. So we had to look for ways to get home early like hiring a jeep.
We decided that we would go home via Lukban and Cavinti, instead of going back to Magdalena. The hills are rather steep and Jeff suggested that. However, it was not a consolation that we had to climb no less than 20 hills, and some of them are stiff And it was raining and we could not see clearly through our eyewear.
I watched PBO this morning. The movie feature Buko Pandan movie was shot in Luisina.

Jeff and Idol (Edgar) rode tandem to Baguio City last Holy Week
Wheels of Happiness
Teresa Rizal, Philippines | April 27, 2014
I knew before that Jeff and Idol rode to Baguio last Maundy Thursday and Good Friday (Holy Week). They rode up via Marcos highway and had to walk 1/2 of the way from the tunnel to Green Valley. I understand Jeff's gear is 53 x 23. That must be hard climb for both them.
They slept in Tayug Pangasinan, I understand.
Congratulations and God bless Jeff and Idol. Idol kayo pareho

Only a handful joined the Tagaytay ride today, April 20, 2014; we did not reach the Sky Ranch
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | Easter Sunday April 20 2014
Look at the traffic, going to and from Skyranch
This bus near 7 11burned and the fire has to be put out by chem fire extinguisher; scary; we abandoned the place and parking slot because we might catch fire too; or be hurt in an explosion
Maybe because it was Easter Sunday, we got only and handful of participants:
Jess V, Gerry Y, Joel J, Master E, VM, Chito F, Nolite, Richard A, Ado G, Val and Jorgeusbiuker. Because of the traffic (and the burning bus, we were not able to proceed to SkyRanch Jeff and Luis were with us at the assembly but did not join the ride. Val was not initially with us but caught us at C6
Richard leads the group in prayer before departure in front of Taytay Hall
At Metrobank Daang Hari, the usual pit stop
Val, a cycling Pro (from the province) chased us at C6
Jeff rode to Baguio with 2 others last Thursday and Friday via Marcos Hiway. Tsk tsk they had to walk past the tunnel to Green Valley.

Luis collecting the biodata for ID, Jeff, Chito and Joel
I left a little bit late today. I started out at 6:40, was in the Sacred Heart church by 6:50. I was in Morong by 7:40. I had the usual lugaw with egg and butchi. Then the group left by 8:10 and we were in Pisong Kape by 8:30. They were fast. I went ahead but the peloton kept up with me at km 55. But this time I could see their back especially that of Gerry Cataps.
They stopped at Pisong Kape but went on till Bugarin. Bubuy and Ariel caught up with me at km 65 (near OL) but I kept pace with them until km 68. I was there at the Bugarin by 9:15. I ate Buko at Lolas (it is 12 pesos now) and went down by 9:30. I was in Morong by 10:00 am and at Binangonan by 10:50. And home by 11:15. It was hot and dry today.

For many of our Fellow Recyclists, biking is a part of their jobs
Real Cyclists
Angono, Rizal PHL April 22, 2013
For most of us, biking is a sports and hobby. But for most of us, biking is part of their jobs. They use bike to commute and save money. For instance:
l. Angel works as an electrician in a school in Taytay; he bikes to Taytay daily on his racer bike;
2. Gerry Cataps rides his BMX daily to Angono, from Tagpos, Binangonan to go to his watch repair shop in Angono, daily.
3. Allan is an OIC for security in a commercial bank branch in Taytay. He rides bike daily to work
4. Jeff works in a factory in hilltop. He rides up the hill daily.
That is why they are all strong and able riders. For them, biking is living. For us, biking is a relaxation on weekends.
