Cramp Prevention

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

The cramps of Engr. June asked us to seek solution to prevent cramps.  What are some suggestions to prevent cramps:

l.  Body conditioning.  Many endurance rides.

2.  Plenty of Vit B and Calcium intake.  (for evacuation of lactic acid)

3.  Massage aftet the ride.

4.  Stretching before, during and afer the ride.  We are all familiar with before and after the ride.  How about during the ride.  Well, arch back our back as we sit or stand.  As we pedal, bring your heels lower than you toes.  That will stretch your calf

5.Check your bike seat height.  A cramped pedalling caused by low seat can cause you to cramp your muscles

A quick lunch and by l2: 00 depart for home

Thanks for Your Viewership Friends All Over the World

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

I had my 333rd blog last time and some 3,268 visits all ready.  In the beginning I was worried I would not reach 500 visits, nor could I make it to the l00th post.

I hope that this blog, I encouraged camaraderie among the local bikers.  And motivated them to bike longer harder and faster even at later ages in life. I hope this has made biking more popular sports and encouraged safety consciousness among motorbikers.  (It is not part of the deal, but a lot of road bikers have been hurt by motorbikers)

I collected you tube bike videos so that it is easier to refer and see all of them in one site.

Thank you.  Salamat.  Arigato.  Merci

Round Laguna Lake Ride Today, Oct 23, 2011

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

We did a round Laguna ride today almost 200 km with Gerry (Cataps Angel and me) Although we started late and had a breakdown, we still were able to arrive at 5 pm.

We decided we will go at 7:40 and we were at Bugarin at 8 45 am; at Mabitac by 9:l5 and Pakil by 9:45. We had pansit, softdrinks and buns at Manay pansitan we met some Valle verde bikers with top of the line bikes. I remember PJ and John. And I gave my blog address. We were at Pagsanjan by ll and were at Pakil by ll:30 we had buko there and my bike wheels would not rotate because I broke a spoke. It was a bad wobble and I had to find a bike repair guy who charged me P50.00 for the job (mahal he did not give me a spoke) but I could bike up to speed (only 25 kph jeje) We left Pila by l2:l5 and were at Los Banos by l:00 where he had a P49.00 lunch at Inasal. Inasal lunch. That is great. We left at l:30 pm.

We were at Sta Rosa by 3 00 pm, 330 at San Pedro and at C6 by 4:l5 and Taytay by 4:45. We admired ourselves while we emptied bladder for having gone around that big wide Laguna lake. at such a relaxed pace and having done it on time. I arrived at Angono at 530. I could have still gone to mass. But I was bone tired for this effort.

Just to think that I arrived at l0 pm last night from Iloilo. Wow Was I tough?! At 60?

Are we the LAke RIDERS?

Proposed Long Ride to Luisiana (No Longer Lucban)

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

"I am going back to Luisiana"

There is a proposed long ride to Luisiana (no longer Lucban) out and back on October 30, 20ll as sequel to Nagcarlan ride.  It is another test of endurance and lung capacity.  Who will ride back home?  What Lucban is just 7 to l0 km; so some guys may shoot until Lucban.

Gerry, Angel, Netoy and I will do a round Laguna Lake this next week to tune up for this long ride.  Who cares to join?

Other Images of the Oct l6, 20ll ride

These are some images of the ride taken by a Nikon L23 coolpix  (a great point and shoot, technically superior affordable camera.  I love it.  Look at the quality of the images!!)

Defunct Mulawin Nitespot.  I saw this as emptied my bladder.  This is at Pililla intersection before the Mun Building.  What a waste?!!

How would I describe my ride today?  Well I caught up with Cataps and Netoy at Calumpang Hiway and we were not leaving one another until Morong (Simples Lugawan)  Gerry and Netoy had to cut short their ride because Gerry would buy watch parts (for his business; he repairs watches)

We got to see Ben who they said had prostrate problems.  He is OK now.  He said he tried to imitate 7 days that is why he had the difficulty.  Beware guys.  7 days is a bad example and influence (hehehe)

I was competitive with the group until as usual, km 53.  They left me there.  I tried to pursue until km 55.  I could see their backs. I was running at 35 TT, but could not catch up.  They said they were running 40 and 45.  Well I improved; I could maintain TT at 35.  The young guys are simply strong and getting stronger

I went up Bugarin until KM 69 using 50x2l.  It is a great training ride

Binangonan Cycling Club Holds Race today October l6, 20ll

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

The Binangonan Cycling Club, BCC, holds today its annual bike race.  This time, unlike in the past it is open to everyone.  Its president is Mr. Ric Francisco.  He said we were classmates in the elementary some 47 years ago (Hehehe.  That is true)  I did not catch the race but I was able to take some pictures.

There were two categories:  open which took seven laps; and age categories for Binangonan cyclists which took  only 4 laps.  Weng (he joined us in the Real ride) and Angel won.  I thought it was  fun day and everybody enjoyed.

Congratulations to Mr Ruben Francisco, BCC and the winners.

Engr. June Francisco's Look Bike is now Up and Running

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

Engr June Francisco who texted me that for two weeks, his Look all carbon fiber Look Campy bike was an October 2 Nagcarlan ride casualty: its chain broke and the bike spring also broke.

We exchanged texts on what he was doing with the bike; I even blogged what transpired. Today he showed us his repaired bike and as good as new. The spring repair just cost him Pl00.00. Ingenious bike Filipino mechanics. It would cost him maybe a months salary had he opted for the original Campy spring.

Engr June Francisco's Look Bike is now OK

Engr Jun's Bike was a Casualty of Oct 2 Ride to Nagcarlan

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

Engr Jun texted me that his Look bike was a casualty of the Oct.2, 20ll ride to Nagcarlan. (Fortunately or unfortunately for me I was not able to join the ride hence my bike was spared from the rains) He said his chain broke and the brake spring broke. For a campy brake, that is an expensive repair. However, he said, the spring is being fabricated. He hopes to ride to have repair completed by this Saturday.

He advised us to: put oil always on the chain and grease the bike whenever we ride in the rain.

As for me, I cover the BB and the headset with velcro rain coat and if I can avoid, I will not ride in the rain., I used to be but I paid the price. If you do always disassemble the BB and the axle.

Just Recovery Ride Yesterday Oct. 9, 20ll

Have bike, we will help save the earth... All that I could do yesterday was to do a slow endurance ride only to to Morong. On the way, I rode with Tito, the celebrant last Oct.2, 20ll. On the way back I was with Amigo. Amigo rode an old Japanese bike with probably 34x l7 gearing. Amigo is now a strong rider (maybe because I am recovering from an illness?)

I just learned that those who joined the Oct 2 ride who get wet also get sick. Many of us lack the endurance to ride 200 km in one day. More endurance ride is needed

Video - Remembering Steve Jobs from CBS News

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

Everybody talks about the passing away of Steve Jobs.  Truly he was a remarkable man - a visionary and entrepreneur.  He pioneered on ideas and technology that were short of earthshaking.  While not the inventor of the technology himself (Steve Wozniak was the techie) he was such a great visionary and created products that were truly disruptive and innovative. President Obama promptly acknowledged the great work that Jobs did.

America will surely miss jobs, and Steve Jobs.  It needs more Jobs.

I am Sorry I was Not Able to Join the Nagcarlan Ride

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

I was not able to join the Nagcarlan Ride.  Since Saturday, I was down with colds:  coughing fever and general body malaise.  I stll felt bad until Sunday morning.  I opted not to ride.  Fortunately for me, I think it was good choice because Luis told me that it rained all through out as they rode back.  And 4 were not able to ride back.  That was almost 200 km long and if there was no prior conditioning, and without the rains, they would not have survived that distance.

So no blog of Nagcarlan ride today  (unless they have pictures)/.

How to lose some of Your Belly Fat.

Have bike, we will help save the earth...

Ever wondered why you bike so hard and yet your tummy stays the same or even bigger?  We see a lot of bikers with this problem.  I think I have this problem.  Perhaps this article could be the answer to this problem.  It involves die;  eating food without preservative, low in sugar and that actually are known to burn fats

Pleas read on

Because of all of the conflicting diet information out there, it can be tough to learn what foods are best at burning belly fat and which ones won't help you get a flat belly at all.
It's no wonder many people give up on their plan to try and lose stomach fat because they just don't know what to do. They don't know who to listen to, what to try, and what foods they should be eating in order to lose that belly.
But with a little bit of advice and some healthy meal choices, you don't have to make the process of losing belly fat harder than it actually is. With the right information and certain foods that burn belly fat naturally, losing stomach fat is not as hard as it seems.
If you get rid of the processed foods in your diet and replace them with nutrient-filled, all-natural foods, you'll lose belly fat and feel better than ever.
A lot of processed foods, foods high in sugar, and foods high in saturated fats are usually the main culprit when it comes to packing on unwanted pounds.
By adding a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables to your daily meals... it can help you get the vitamins and minerals you need to support losing belly fat.
After all, you're only as healthy as your nutrient intake. If you eat plenty of nutrient-rich fruits and veggies, you give your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to be its best. So many of your body's metabolic and physical processes require vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients.
It can be hard to get these if you're eating a lot of junk food. By eating foods that DON'T help you burn belly fat, things like processed foods, sugar, and saturated fats... getting a flat belly will be a lot tougher.
Fruits and vegetables are great sources of complex carbs and fiber. Carbs are important because they provide energy for your body. Carbs are broken down by the body into blood sugar, which provides energy to your brain and other parts of the body.
The best carbs to get are complex carbs... which are broken down by your body at a slower pace, so you can get a gradual release of blood sugar and a timed release of energy.
Processed foods with a lot of sugar will cause a rapid spike in your blood sugar levels, which can then cause an energy crash a little while after. Also, too much sugar will cause your body to release chemicals that can actually cause you to stop burning belly fat.
Most complex carbs also have a healthy dose of fiber. Fiber helps you to feel full longer. The longer you feel full, the less you're likely to eat and the more likely you'll lose belly fat.
When you make lean meats, wild fish, and organic poultry a part of your meals, you're giving your body the protein it needs to maintain lean muscle tissue and overall good health.
Lean proteins like organic poultry and grass fed beef are some of the foods that burn belly fat. They're not processed so your body burns them fast.
Protein is referred to as the building block of the body because your lean muscle tissue it made of protein. Protein also helps with keeping you feeling full longer and lean proteins also help you lose belly fat because they burn off more calories than fats or carbs.
This is called "the thermic effect of foods".
Protein actually burns more calories, while you're resting, than does carbs or fats.
Some of the top foods that burn belly fat are proteins.
Adding lean meats to your diet will help you get the protein you need for lean muscle growth and also other important functions that require amino acids.
You also need certain fats in your diet, they just have to be the healthy fats.
Believe it or not, many of the foods that burn belly fat contain some of these healthy fats.
Healthy fats provide your body with energy, produce hormones, and provide protection for your internal organs.
Fats also help your body use vitamins because many vitamins are fat soluble. This means there has to be some fat present in order for the body to absorb the vitamin.
Fish and raw nuts are great to have in your diet so you can get some of the fats you need to be healthy.
If you get rid of processed junk and replace them with the foods that burn belly fat, you can lose stomach fat without feeling like your dieting or restricting yourself.
One problem with cooking with a lot of the best foods that burn belly fat is some people feel they don't have the time or skill to prepare healthy meals.
But take it from me, grilled chicken breasts don't have to be your only choice for nutritious meals using foods that help burn belly fat.
When you're preparing your recipes, always use wholesome natural and fresh ingredients. Try and keep everything as natural and fresh as possible.
Natural foods include fresh fruits and veggies, whole eggs, free-range poultry, nuts, beans, legumes, and lean meats.
These foods that burn belly fat are not processed and don't contain bad fats, preservatives or any chemicals that can make them dangerous.
Use organic fruits, vegetables, and meats as your main diet staples. Organic meat, poultry, fruits and veggies don't contain the harmful chemicals or genetically engineered materials like many foods do.
Your body will NOT be its healthiest when it's trying to handle toxins, chemicals, and poisons in processed foods.
For the foods to be at their lowest possible calorie totals, stick with sautéed, baked, fried or grilled.
Use olive oil to saute... because it's healthy and can add nutrition to meals.
Bottom line, in order to lose stomach fat, start swapping out unhealthy ingredients for some of these foods that burn belly fat.
You can make recipes healthier by replacing regular milk with raw milk, almond milk, or coconut milk.
If you don't like a particular food, just replace or eliminate the ingredients and use some other healthy options.
You don't have to deprive yourself of delicious meals in order to lose belly fat. Start using some of these foods that burn belly fat and soon you'll be on your way to a flat stomach.
With a little bit of planning, you can choose healthy, fat-burning foods to use each day, instead of processed or high-sugar foods.
And that will be one of the fastest ways for you to lose belly fat in less time.
