My bike ride today: December 27, 2017

                                              Fields of Quiapo at Morong

I did a 50 km ride (25 km one way:   km 27 to km 52) up to Baras Hills.   It rained.  Its good
I have rain coat.  But that did not prevent me from having two flat tire at Calumpang, and I had to walk up to Pantok to look for vulcanizing or bike shop.  Unfortunately, none would service my bike
The jeeps and tricycle were full too.   I was about to cross Pantok when I saw Tito Fabay

He offered to give me a lift up to Angono.  I had to carry the bike on my shoulder which was tiring.  At Tayuman, I just guided the bike running side by side with the Motorcycle.

Inihatid ako sa door namin.   Salamat Tito.

Using electrical tape as rim tape

Electrical tape as rim tape from MTB forum

This post experienced two flats in rapid succession: at his Bianchi bike   while biking, and the other while the bike was parked inside the bedroom.  There was no apparent puncture from outside (as nails, broken glass);  the hole which were large, were seen at the side of the tube facing the rim bed.  So the problem could be the worn out tape on the rim bed. (Masking tape) The masking tape I used before had worn out.   The regular bike tape would set me back by P100.00 at least (or more)   I met Gerry and he suggested electrical tape which Odi, the mechanic at Villamayor used to seal the aberration from the rim bed that can cause puncture  on the interior.

And so I did.  I bought two Armak electrical tape.  (Cost P10.php only each)  And put over the rubber strips cut from old interior. Each one was good for 2 1/2 layer of protection on the rim bed.  I finished the project at 8 pm last night;  I sweated profusely as I completed the project.  The interior tube seem to be holding out well;  no flats again  which I expect on the road.  (But unable to ride because of frequent rains)

Some incidents yesterday at the ride yesterday to #Caliraya

Wheels of Happiness

Angono Rizal  Philippines   | September 22, 2014

                    Gerry's flat at Caliraya

Choco watches his Tito fix his 2nd flat

Rides would not be complete without spice of incidents/situations.  Situations are spice of rides.

Some of the incidents:

1.  Gerry had two flats.   He replaced his flat tube with one that had 55 mm valve.   I said Gerry's valve (tt) is long.  He had one in Caliraya.  The other one was in Pangil just before FAmy.  When he had the right valve, no more flats took place
