Chasing Mambo (Charlie Lorenzo) going to Morong today

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippine
March 26, 2017

Dala ko ngayon Fuji bike.  I bought interior with 8 cm valves so that I can inflate the Cosmic tires (with 5 cm aero height)  the 6 cm valve leaves only 1 cm for inflation and the pump do not seat well with 1 cm length of the valve.  I bought the 8 cm valve at John Wilkies branded Kenda  China for P225 each

I chanced upon this guy 10 years younger, who is from Pontifino Daang Hari, but who started out from flood way this morning past the Sacred Heart church.  I chased him in Tagpos, overtook him and then he got close again and overtook me again at Calumpang, I chased him again, overtook him before the BCC, and then I chased him up to Montevideo, and successfully overtook him near Looc before the  the Iglesia, and then going up to Queen Mary, I had trouble with my gears (loose cable) and he left me.  But I overtook him just after Renaissance. Then my gears got loose again and he left me just before Namay.  We saw each other at Simples Lugawan. in Morong  He paid for my Lugaw and egg though

I was the first Recyclist in Simples, followed by Engr. June Francisco.  Then came Meong, Joel, Jess, Nolite, Jimmy, Master

He is called Mambo, he said and his chocaran are from Taytay.  His name is Charlie Lorenzo.  He says  he knows someone from Angono who makes taho

He and Jimmy know each other about sports, football and others.   He said he is an electrical contractor, and does not like girls any more (those who are old)

He says he can manage hills at 20 to 30 kph (kaya?)

But his kuwento poses a challenge for me.  But that means I am strong, because I was able to keep up with him or even overtake him (3x at least)

Bike Ride Yesterday to the South: Bicutan, Daang Hari Paliparan

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
September 21, 2015

Baytown has plenty of shade trees now

Its 43rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.  (They said it was done much earlier)

I rode yesterday to the south going to C6 (it looked better compared to when I passed through it last Tuesday via a motor vehicle, the    west service road, Daang Hari, Paliparan.  I tried doing this ride using 32 front chain ring x 11, 13 and 15 for easy ride.

It was uneventful ride although I arrived home 2:00 pm.  It was more of a sight seeing tour rather than a ride.

Recyclists ride back to Angono yesterday May 2 2015; temp was at 40 again en route from Daang Hari to home

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines May 3, 2015

Ready to leave for Angono from Manangquil beach resort in Nasugbu Batangas

Pacman lost to a better more talkative fighter.  Will there a rematch for even bigger price money?  We are all suckers to as P.T Barnaum said and may be Bob Araum. Nothing is free now;  only PPV to view great fights and even $10,000 ringside seats.  Thanks to all the hype, events become more expensive

So we rode back yesterday to see the fight.  We decided to leave early, considering that the ride back from Tuy was all uphill - 20 km and the heat would sap all our strength.  So we decided to sleep early May 1, 2015, wake at 3 am the following day, and leave at 5:30

Most of us woke at 3 am and we had great breakfast cooked by the resort staff.   Pritong tuyo, scrambled egg, 3 in 1 Nescafe, and fried rice - left over from last nights dinner of rice and sinigang na buto ng baboy

By 5:30 we were all ready.  We left at 5:40 after the prayers.   (Someone remarked that Nolite who used to rush people to leave was there - that was me.   Defensively I said we agreed on that and it was a duty to remind every one of the agreed schedule)

Only a handful joined the Tagaytay ride today, April 20, 2014; we did not reach the Sky Ranch

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal   Philippines  |  Easter Sunday  April 20 2014

Look at the traffic, going to and from Skyranch

This bus  near 7 11burned and the fire has to be put out by chem fire extinguisher;  scary;  we abandoned the place and parking slot because we might catch fire too; or be hurt in an explosion

Maybe because it was Easter Sunday, we got only and handful of participants:

Jess V, Gerry Y,  Joel J,   Master E,  VM, Chito  F, Nolite, Richard A, Ado G, Val and Jorgeusbiuker.  Because of the traffic (and the burning bus, we were not able to proceed to SkyRanch   Jeff and Luis were with us at the assembly but did  not join the ride.  Val was not initially with us but caught us at C6

Richard leads the group in prayer before departure in front of Taytay Hall

At Metrobank Daang Hari, the usual pit stop

Val, a cycling Pro (from the province) chased us at C6

Jeff rode to Baguio with 2 others last Thursday and Friday via Marcos Hiway.  Tsk tsk they had to walk past the tunnel to Green Valley.

Ganun kami sa Makati, eh kayo?

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal, Philippines   | Jauary 20, 2014

We met several young cyclists from Makati at Daang Hari, cor Bacoor.  And we thought they were sponsored by the city government.  No they were not.  So we posed and took their pictures.  Here they are:

How did I do in the Ride to Tagaytay yesterday?

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal  |  Philippines  | January 20 2014

Vic, Master and Edgar arriving in Gen Trias

I was totally exhausted yesterday from the ride.   My knees were weak, as if there was cotton inserted  in the joints and I had difficulty in walking when I arrived in Angono.  I had to sleep and take a rest as soon as I changed from the Recyclists jersey to the dry clothes. The strong head wind as I biked alone (without the group) got me.

I believe that I did well in this ride.

1. At C6, I managed to be near the head of the peloton;

2.  At the service road, I was in the top 10 of the peloton.   Cataps was at the lead.

3.  At Daang Hari from Alabang to Bacoor, and from Bacoor to Emilio Aguinaldo, I managed to stay ahead.

4.  Going up Crisanto de los Santos Highway to Amadeo, I was left behind when I took some pictures.  However, 5 km after, I caught up with some of the stragglers:  Gerry, Jericho, Ado, Ben.  I even overtook them

5.  Going down the same highway, I took over the peloton leadership from Alan from Amadeo town proper up to Gen Trias.  Maybe that sapped my energy too.   I was behind at Daang Hari;  they left me at Gen Trias early on when we were going down the irrigation road.   I caught up with Ado, Gerry, Ven, and Edgar when Ado got flat in Daang Hari.   I just went with Ado from thereon to Petron.

I would judge this ride for me as good, because I really strained to keep up.  However the group is really fast.  If you blink, and do not keep up fast, you will be left behind far far away

Jerichos clones/fakes at Daang Hari

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines  | January 19, 2014

As we rested in Bacoor corner Daan Hari, I noticed Jericho had several clones, or fake relatives.  All were named Jerico. They were all SGs guarding the property.   (Just like Erap who saw a number of Ejercitos when travelling to South America. )  Well Ejercito means army in Spanish and he thought that he had plenty of relatives there (another Eraption - joke)

Will the real Jericho stand up?

Angono, Rizal  Philippines   December 2, 2013

One of the causes of the delay in biking was that I was taking a lot of pictures.  You do not have chances to take these pictures, so being one of the two armed with high memory cameras, I took the opportunity to take these pictures.
