Wife of Pres Luis Genavia, Recyclists Pres laid to rest today

Wheels of Happiness

This post joined the family of Recyclists Pres Luis Genavia in having his late wife laid to rest via cremation at Sympathy Crematorium.   Also present among the Recyclists witnessing the cremation were VM Jun Vic, and Sec Noe.

I learned that the mother of Marisel was the classmate of my sister Dr. Minda in the elementary.  She fainted inside the crematorium customer area .

Pres Luis had to sell his bike to cover the massive medical expenses.

May she rest in peace.

Happy birthday VM, 62nd birthday

Wheels of Happiness

Today is the 62nd birthday of Vice Mayor Jun Vic, former vice mayor of Angono.  He is the youngest brother in the family.  He was responsible for the formation and strengthening of Recyclists.  He supported the long climbs, with logistics and manpower.

Kaya naka 15 years ang Recyclists.

Enjoy and more blessings for the day.

Lessened group rides by Recyclists

Wheels of Happiness

The participants to the week end rides of Recyclists has declined.  It is great if we can gather 10 or more.   the group rides has also diminished in number.

Because of the temperature.    The rise in temperature has been brutal, and such have been attributed to death of certain riders

Perhaps the desire of others has diminished.  Many have died and many are growing old.   The financier of the rides, sir VM is very busy with Boy Scouts and his expanding business.  Hence lesser group rides  (or none at all)

Big improvement in the Bisikleta Iglesia by Recyclists - honest to goodness Bisita with prayers

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
Maundy Thursday
March 29, 2018

There was a great /big improvement in the Bisikleta Iglesia we held today:  we had a printed prayer missallete,  two stations of the cross were taken up in each of the 7 churches:  1 and 2 at Magdalena, 3 and 4 at Tanay, 5 and 6 at Baras and so on.   Several kapadyaks were asked to read and lead the group in prayers, something not done before:  to cite some of them:  Richard, Luis, Alan, Gerry JB, and the  last but not the least for the 13 and 14 station done by  VM. at Angono Rizal

This made the occasion/event more solemn and more meaningful as we prayed and reflected on the death
and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. (There is no need to join the early dawn Penitential Procession)   I think  this  event captured the Holiness and  spirit of this Holy Week

Thank you VM for this innovation and great idea, change in our Bisikleta Iglesia

It is a rare privilege and honor to have been part of the Urdaneta Vigan Paoay ride

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
February 12, 2018

As I looked at the T shirt that was given to me yesterday by VM Jun Vic, I realize that it is an honor, and rare privilege to have been part of that ride to Vigan and Paoay.  It wasindicated to be 297  km in all. Albeit I completed only the first day ride of 224 kms, it was to me a  very pleasant and exhilarating ride.  I finished it without feeling distressed,  without being left behind (people waiting for me  as a matter of fact, I did some of the waiting) and even managed to lead a conference last Sunday.

Congrats to the hardy group too that did almost 500 kms in two days:  Jeff, Allan, Gerry, Angel, and Peter.
Real mamaws.

June.

Let us see that climb Baguio:

Resolving where to go on February 19, 20 and 21? Baguio City or Sagada?

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines   |  February 2, 2015

There were two agenda yesterday for Recyclists:   1.  to resolve the destination for Baguio ride    2.  to bike to Jala jala

However, Nanding set an appointment for me with Sonny Varde President of Baras Cycling Club, for some real estate properties for sale.  So I did not have chance to finish the meeting, because they would wait daw for VM to arrive.  I also had an appointment with Mr. Jim Cruz of a business concern in Baras.

As with regards to the proposed ride to Baguio and/or Sagada:

1.  There are those who would settle for Baguio because logistic wise and participation wise, Sagada would be difficult.  There would be no need for a van and this would be easier to manage.

2. Others do not want the Baguio ride because this would be nth time to have this.  A Sagad ride would be in order. Maybe we can just hire a jeep to Sagada which would be cheaper say only P7,000 with driver and fuel

3.  Or we can do the Naga ride instead.

However, VM would seem to have made a DP for the Baguio sojourn.  The whole decision making was left hanging with barely 20 days to go.

What, bike ride on Christmas day?

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines  December 26, 2014

There were plenty of bikers on the road yesterday.  We cant throw off what the body wants to keep fit.

I biked solo up to Pililla (Pisong Kape) where I met Master E.  I tried to reach Pisong Kape in one hour.  It is still the same:  one hour and ten minutes.    Later Tito Fabay arrived and we went up to OL.  There we had buko (only P20.00)  We were there up to 9:00 and then we biked down.  I had a bill changed to P5.00 coins and threw some children by the roadside  for the spirit of Christmas.  Katuwaan lang.

Then back at Pisong Kape.  We met VM there.  Had some talk.  Unfortunately it rained and so we had to wait it out.  There we learned that Julius Rivera, of Baytown met an accident at C6 and had serious head injuries at about 4 am when he went home yesterday from a party (he drunk too) much. He was an LBC driver mechanic at last Ronda.  We rode to Baguio together on my first ever Angono to Baguio ride with Val

I kept pace with VM when we rode until Morong and Cardona.  I lost him at ascent to LLDA (but not much).  I could now sustain his speed and TT with him and not be dropped.

We had to strategize to aid the #Recyclists go home safely and early yesterday October 5, 2014

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines

VM and the Navarra were Recyclists savior; that is the wife of Jeff who hails from Mindanao.  They have two children

We had 20 riders who joined us in our sojourn to Majayjay to share some of the blessings of Jeff and their farm.

They were:    Alan, VM, Jeff, Choco2, Luis, Chito, Gerry C, Gerry Y, Master, Jorgeusbiker, Joel (nagdala ng sweet and juicy tsalap bibingka) Edgar (7 days) Vec, Edgar (Idol) Jeff, Jess, Nolite, Val

The new ones who joined were:  Miong Bautista, Mario.

The bike was long and challenging. It rained hard in Majayjay as soon as we got to Jeff's place and on our ride back to Pagsanjan. Surprisingly, there was no rain in Paete.

Some really suffered and had cramps, Master:  Miong, (Angel - we were surprised! first time that happened)

As soon as we got down to Pagsanjan, we looked for jeepneys to bring us to Tanay.  But none agreed to be out of line.

Some requested to be brought to Bugarin from Pagsanjan:  Joel, Chito, Ven, Gerry.  They were low batt, exhausted or had cramps.  VM who a Nissan Navarra pick up with him, ferried the stricken riders to Bugarin and would pick up the rest in Mabitac.

In Mabitac, VM ferried us to Bugarin:   Jess, Pres Luis, Master, Vec, Jorgeusbiker.

Others struggled to ride home on their own up Bugarin:   Choco2, Edgar;   Edgar 7 days, Nolite, Mario, Jeff.

Bike ride today to Antipolo City September 2, 2014

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal  Philippines  |  September 2, 2014

It is a fine day to ride and shake off the aching muscles and pains after the arduous and backbreaking Pagsanjan ride.  On the way I saw Jeff on his way to work.  He was on his slippers and he did not have any helmet.

He said where he works is near the quarry at formerly Don Enrique Heights (now Havila?)

So he left me at Tikling and onwards I rode to Mary Hills, Fibertex, Beverly Hills and finally to Antipolo City.  I used 34 x25 at Beverly but elsewhere  the gears were 21, and 23 x 34.  Since the sun was not shining brightly, the climb was uneventful.

I arrived at the Antipolo Church at a little past 7 and therefore I was able to complete a mass down to the final blessing.

VM arrived just before the mass ended.  There I met Art Tayag (55 yo) and Romy delos Santos (62) both from Masinag.  Their companions admired the Fujijorgeus;  however they advised me to be careful of bikejacking which is common for high end bikes

Father of Engr June laid to rest last Saturday, August 23, 2014

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal  Philippines   I   August 25, 2014

The father of our kapadyak Recyclist Engr. June was laid to rest last Saturday in a cremation ceremonies held at 4 pm at Holy Gardens Memorial Chapel and crematorium in Angono Rizal.  The said business is headed by VM Jun Vic.  Only Engr June and a sister were there to witness the cremation and this writer and his daughter. The two sisters of Engr June were teachers of Jorgeusbikers daughter while at Assumption Antipolo.

The rest of the Recyclists visited the wake last Tuesday, August 21, 2014 at Transfiguration of Christ Church in Mahabang Parang. at about 10am (after Jorgeusbiker left)

Only a handful joined the Tagaytay ride today, April 20, 2014; we did not reach the Sky Ranch

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal   Philippines  |  Easter Sunday  April 20 2014

Look at the traffic, going to and from Skyranch

This bus  near 7 11burned and the fire has to be put out by chem fire extinguisher;  scary;  we abandoned the place and parking slot because we might catch fire too; or be hurt in an explosion

Maybe because it was Easter Sunday, we got only and handful of participants:

Jess V, Gerry Y,  Joel J,   Master E,  VM, Chito  F, Nolite, Richard A, Ado G, Val and Jorgeusbiuker.  Because of the traffic (and the burning bus, we were not able to proceed to SkyRanch   Jeff and Luis were with us at the assembly but did  not join the ride.  Val was not initially with us but caught us at C6

Richard leads the group in prayer before departure in front of Taytay Hall

At Metrobank Daang Hari, the usual pit stop

Val, a cycling Pro (from the province) chased us at C6

Jeff rode to Baguio with 2 others last Thursday and Friday via Marcos Hiway.  Tsk tsk they had to walk past the tunnel to Green Valley.

How was my bike ride yesterday? March 16, 2014

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal  |  Philippines  | March 17, 2014

I was fortunate to have arrived from provincial sortie (travel to Pangasinan) early (about 11 pm).  I stopped by the wake of my brother in law.  I was able to rest at about half hour past 12.

Early am at about 6:30 I biked to Antipolo and was able to complete a mass.  I biked towards Morong and even dropped by Holy Angels Memorial Park to make inspection.

By 11 am, I was nearing home and the Recyclists caught with me at San Carlos Hts gate 1.  They came from Pisong Kape and according to VM they were doing 35 to 39 kph

In Teresa though there was one huge accident. A truck fell down a ravine and it was completely totalled

UCI World Cycling Championship colors and new helmets with the colors

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal   |  Philippines   |  January 26, 2014

My helmet at the bottom;  VMs expensive helmet on top with WCC colors

I tried to redecorate my old helmets with stickers.  What I did not know was that the trendy helmet colors came from the World Cycling Championship.  VM showed me his Specialized helmet. And it bore teh correct colors:

Blue
Red
Black
Yellow
Green

In that order.   So I have to change my stickers to look trendy.

                                        VMs new helmet (P10t daw)

Can you afford this;  but we can copy the stickers right?
