Idea of race back to Baguio City from Urdaneta gaining traction
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines
February 21, 2017
The thought of returning to Baguio City soon, with the ride starting from Urdaneta is gaining traction and many are interested.
The idea came when Engr June, who was our host in Urdaneta last Baguio City ride February 10 to 12, floated that idea that perhaps we could race to Baguio City soon from Urdaneta. I mentioned this to VM and some of Recyclists and they liked the idea. I posted this at FB, a three liner and there were many views and likes
One of them was Sec Noe, whose dream of scaling Baguio City was dashed last Feb 11 when Nanding said he does not know the route when we were all ready in Rosario La Union (ako rin di ko alam)

Available at Sabak and Unison
How fast time flies. It is all ready the middle of January.
This morning, while I tried to see off other kapadyak for their Sierra Madre ride at Simple Lugawan, I spied on the bike of Engr June a Willier shod with Zipp wheels and Durace group set. He bought this from VM at a mid 6 number figure But it is a great looking bike, He sold his Look Bike for this purchase. Congrats Engr. June.

Practice ride for speed; overtaking every one else making sure no one gets ahead
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines
December 30, 2016
Happy Rizal Day (120th death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, at Luneta)
I biked today after listening to the first part of the mass at Sacred Heart. And then when I saw bikers, roadies MTBs i sprinted and overtook every one else. The last one and second to the hardest was the group I overtook at Callahan. There must be more than a dozen of them. However, they slowed down after the descent at the flats and promptly took the lead again. I must have overtaken about 6 groups of bikers until Morong. At Morong though, one batch of determined bikers right after the market, overtook me. I upped my cadence to catch them till the Namay hill. There I stood and overtook every one else. No one overtook me no more at Sagbat.
At Simples Lugawan, there were Master, Echo, Meong and Joel. Then Engr June arrived and we talked about the proposed ride to Baguio and his new assignment at his employer. He is in charge of Region I and III for the distribution sale and service of industrial freezing equipment but with a twist - without the freezer wow. That is interesting. I promised him to support with former students who are into frozen food, products, or food production, including uncle who in engaged into broiler and poultry products production.
Biking home ( I had to attend the Mariano Unidad Garapon reunion at 10 am at Holy Gardens) I passed at Cardona town proper (first time I did not pass diversion). I did sprint at Calumpang 2x with the hardest one at Island Gas.
Thereafter I spied a roadie with Canyon carbon fiber bike and Cosmic wheel set. I gave chase and tried to run him down. There was too much traffic though that we were able to do some chasing only past Bilibiran until Holy Gardens Angono. I learned that he is from Cainta Greenwoods. I must have done a lot of hard work because I am aching all over. Too much lactic acid in the body
Too much yabang, bragging before the year end? My apologies to the readers/kapadyak

I got an affordable Giyo Floor Pump from Marauder MTB in Antipolo today
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines
December 28, 2015
Having heard from Engr. June Francisco that there is a floor pump available at Marauder MTB in Mahabang Parang Antipolo, I immediately texted Mike, the American owner of the bike shop. Yes there is at P525 (this sells for double the price elsewhere) It comes with a gauge. For the same price, I bought a GTS floor pump for P500 without gauge.
So I MTB'd to Mike this morning and got this floor pump. It is more convenient to pump air into the bike tires and not guess the air pressure. I found out that my MTB is under inflated by 40 psi and the road bike by 40 psu also. It took just about 2 dozen pumps to get the correct pressure
Its brand is Giyo from Taiwan
What is the importance of good foot pump with gauge to riding?

Some new ideas for your bike - from Engr June Francisco
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | October 20, 2014
The Exustar carbon fiber pedal (I have an Exustar in my Fuji CF but only the alloy one)
VMs Durace pedal
Eng June is a manager at a famous car aircon company in Canlubang Laguna. He is very well versed in TPS, Kaizen and innovation in all things mechanical (he is a mechanical engineer)
And his bike bear stamps of innovativeness and his engineering background.
He has installed an Exustar carbon fiber pedal (which he claims is superior to his current Look pedal which he sold for only P1t to Secx Noe - I should have known last week) which he bought from Marauders (a new bike shop in town, near his place in Antipolo. The new pedal he said,
1. weighs only 85 grams
2. has titanium shaft (that means it is very strong even in crashes it wont bend)
Wow, and costs only P6t+
He also had SS PVC coated shift cable which cost P150 each. That means to say no more broke shift cable from rusting.
Maybe you should install one in your bike....

My practice endurance ride yesterday - long ride to Pililla via Antipolo
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines |October 13, 2014
Secx Noe and Engr June (just trimmed haircut)
My practice endurance ride yesterday, October 2 took me up to Antipolo Church and then to Simples Lugawan in Morong in Pililla.
I met a cyclists at Antipolo Church who hails from San Carlos City, where one of our businesses were located. He plans to put up with a partner from Angono, a motorcycles parts store in Baytown. More power Sir
I met Gerry, Secx Noe, and Engr June at Simples Lugawan.
I saw the landslide along the road going up to Beverly Hills as result of heavy rains last Saturday. It is interesting to note that I now pass MTBs and other road bikers going up Antipolo. There was one who passed me but I caught up with him past Beverly Hills.

Prayers and condolences for the late Father of kapadyak, Recylist Engr June Francisco
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | August 22, 2014
After the hill climb and visiting the Antipolo Church (I did not finish the mass) I rode to Transfiguration of Risen Christ at ML Quezon Avenue past Mission HIlls to condole with the family of Franciscos whose father died at the age of 77. Our Engr June Francisco was fortunate to be there at 8:00 am in the morning and welcomed me warmly. He introduced to me to his brothers and sis, some of whom came from Indonesia (as educators) His two sister happened to be teachers of my daughter in Assumption Antipolo. (Later my daughter became a colleague because she taught for a while in Assumption)
His father was an educator, a businessman, and who looks like he is brilliant. He constantly probed his children's critical thinking while having a meal.
Some mt. bikers from Mitsubishi arrived later. Gerry Yamsuan was there (and left his carbon fiber Ridley at home) Engr June used to be Mitsubishi as an automotive engineer - well trained in Engine and transmission tech in Japan. He works now at Sanden as Logistics Manager and Team Leader in Toyota Production System.
The other Recyclists came later when I left, Engr June texted me.
Vaya can Dios to June's father. God bless

One of our companions was hounded by flats and mechanical trouble in our ride to Manay
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines. June 30 2014
Idol supervising Engr June as he fixes his flat
One of our fellow Recyclists Engr June had 3 flats plus a skewer that would not lock properly. But is part of the challenge, and sometimes when you have mechanical problems they come to you in in a bundle (that is to test your mettle and perseverance.)
Boy am I lucky that it did not happen to me. In one of our rides to Atimonan, I had three flats: one in Cardona, early on, and two in Cavinti. I would have just preferred to ride in the van. But I did not.
Jerry K had a flat some 5 km form here and he had a chance to have Kysirium wheelset as his repair wheel.

Former office mates at Mitsubishi: Joel and Engr June - looks chubby handsome and fresh
I was so happy that after 11 months of non meeting, I saw Engr June Francisco today. I learned that in their company Engr is in charge of installing the TPS (Toyota Production System) and that he had health problems: he had cyst operation on his groin and forehead. So he said that he must rebuild his strength and stamina. He said he was going home but we encouraged him to ride up to Pisong Kape. To which he gladly obliged. We rode slowly with him, except at km 58 to 59 where Gerry adn I tried to chase a strong cyclist.
We rode with him (Joel, Master and I) going back to his house via Teresa. But he had cramps in Teresa lugawan and he had to be fetched by his son.
