10 x ride up DOMSA, 5 loops

Wheels of Happiness

Ayscycle had a challenge for anyone who can can do 5 loops of DOMSA from bridge to 711 at ML Quezon in Mahabang Parang.

Though unregistered I tried doing this using the P bike.  I changed the cogs to 11 - 42  That was how I managed this.

Most riders finished this in 2 hours +.   I did this in 5 hours.  I hour for one loop.  I nearly qut on my 4th loop since it was 11 am.

One loop is all ready a killer.  I could not imagine how I did this.

Would you at 72 yo?

Eye protection for clearer vision

Wheels of Happiness

We should provide protection and additional care for our eyes

1.   Sports eyewear either using photochromic or polarized eyewear.  They are affordable from Shopee or Lazada.  It was comfortable for me yesterday using polarized lenses.  There was no glare and  may eyelids did not catch dirt and dust.

2.  Thorough cleaning of areas around eyes and eyelids.  The salty sweat could  ruin the eye and cause cataracts. It is best to wipe the area with water and cotton balls.

Let me try the photochromic lenses later on

This is applicable to seniors most especially

Fast and furious hard anaerobic rides

Image result for fast and furious bike rides

For the past 3 days, I do not have a decent long ride.  But yesterday and this morning I did fast and furious hard anaerobic rides.  I am tired and spent from this ride and I have to sleep early.

Yesterday I raced with the jeep using an MTB I must be doing 30 to 32 kph which is fast for MTB.  An indicator that I was fast was that a jeep whom I overtook and observed arrived some 4 minutes later.

I also overtook a car

This morning we had PE at Taytay MEG.  The ladies hired bikes and we went around the technopark (where there are races)   We did 2 loops.    On the way back our staff rode on the jeep which I led until Valera.  After Valera and up to Angono, I did not see the jeep again.

Hard rides like this I think develop speed and strength..  They also leave you very hungry and tired and in need of deep sleep always

I got an affordable Giyo Floor Pump from Marauder MTB in Antipolo today

Wheels of Happiness

December 28, 2015

Having heard from Engr. June Francisco that there is a floor pump available at Marauder MTB in Mahabang Parang Antipolo, I immediately texted Mike, the American owner of the bike shop.  Yes there is at P525 (this sells for double the price elsewhere)  It comes with a gauge. For the same price, I bought a GTS floor pump for P500 without gauge.

So I MTB'd to Mike this morning and got this floor pump.  It is more convenient to pump air into the bike tires and not guess the air pressure.  I found out that my MTB is under inflated by 40 psi and the road bike by 40 psu also.  It took just about 2 dozen pumps to get the correct pressure

Its brand is Giyo from Taiwan

What is the importance of good foot pump with gauge to riding?

Several bike rides this Holiday (#Undas)

Wheels of Happiness

I did 3 bike rides this weekend:  last October 31, November 1 and November 2, 2014 (yesterday) - for Undas

For October 31, 2014, I biked to Morong.  It was a dual purpose - bike ride and checking preparation for November 1 (for Undas)  I left at 4:20 and I was in Morong by 5:20.  By 5:40, I was on my way back because it was getting dark.   I was home by 7:00 (because the traffic at Pantok slowed me down)  It was good I had my LED lamp at the bike...

On November 1, I went up to Marian Hills for some inquiry with the owner/caretaker. I went up at around 10 am.  It was as usual a rough ride.  I rode up to where the concrete road ended.  It is really dangerous to ride up with a road bike.  Falls or losing control can be inevitable.  (Bad news for other riders -  DPWH guys were allegedly measuring the road again - will they construct this time)

Awarding Certificates of Achievement to the Sturdy, Strong, Fast and Determined Recycllists

Wheels of Happiness

Preview of the certificates prior to the distribution

Villa Criscar, Adelina St, San Carlos Hts, Tayuman, Binangonan Rizal  |  December 29, 2013

The way I looked at it, the most important part of the days event was not the eating, nor the singing nor the exchange of gifts, or the raffle.  But it was the awarding of Certificates of Achievements.  It was the graduation of sorts, a signal achievement for having worked so hard to finish those long rides.

The Certificates of Achievements were for the Lemery and Ternate ride.   VM and Pres Luis gave out the certificates

It is not only a proof to our wives and families that we really biked out there, but gives us the bragging rights of how much we improved in terms of guts and endurance.  We may not be the TDF riders, but riding 200 km, out and back,  puts us in different territory.  It is going back and forth to Bugarin 3 times during the day, from Angono.   And it is a non stop effort.

So guys, congratulations.  Keep this up.  We are proud of you, as you are proud of yourself for having worked so hard. And you all deserve to get this certificate.  Cheers.
