No Bisikleta Iglesia for JB still today - still nursing an injury

Wheels of Happiness

Recyclists Bisikleta Iglesia 2015

Fellow kapadyak Vhen Apran invited me to join him in Motorbisita Iglesia - ie we ride in tandem as we relive the Biskileta Iglesia.  I declined as I am still nursing a broken shoulder

Traditionally the Angono Recyclists hold a Bisikleta Iglesia for almost a decade.  The church visit is complete with misallete and prayers especially for Recyclists

We did not have for the last two years because of the pandemic

The churches we visited are:

1.  St Magdalene in Pililla (sometimes the Bugarin or Quisao Church  St. Vicente Alcala
2.  St. Ildefonso in Tanay
3.  St. Joseph in Baras.
4.  St. Jerome in Morong
5.  Holy Rosary in Cardona
6.  Sta Ursula in Binagonan or Sacred Heart in Tayuman
7.  St. Clement in Angono Rizal

True to our religion we join the Christendom in commemorating the Passion of Jesus Christ

Keeping up with the Jays

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines, November 26  2015

Today I biked to OL at Bugarin.  On the way to OL from Lagundi, somebody passed me and I chased him.  I found out that his name is Joey from Fairview, QC.   He was on 39 x 14 while was at 44 x 15.  I was not left behind, and even left him from km 55 up to 57, and after Biak na bato at the last right hand bend.

On the way back, I chanced another biker.  He left me after ascending Biak na bato.  Again, another chase and he held back as we descended to the Pililla municipal hall.  Then we got side by side and later learned that his name is Jay Vergara, from Marikina, a student, only 18 years old.  He said he is a climber and does not do well in sprint.  He said he placed 10th in a TT from Pililla to mun hall and back, race. Again up to Morong, we paced together.  He even said I was doing 35 when I tried to leave him from the Baras Tanay hill..

So there you are two Jays:   Joey and Jay.

Oh I nearly forgot,  Aries from BCC was accompanying two young riders and they overtook me at Morong market. I chased them again and kept abreast until they turned right to the diversion.  By that time I was short of breath and peeled off.

This is how to train to be stronger?

Wheels of Happiness

August 25, 2015

After last Sunday's Bugarin ride, I rested yesterday.  But today, it was a little bit rough.  I biked to Sto Rosario past Lafarge and did 5x hill climb, first was over geared, then under geared. then under geared standing, over geared and then easy climb (32 x 32)

And then I went up the Mahabang Parang hill and I had to use 32 x32.   I did not have to stand and hurry up the pedalling, I was tired and breathless.

Then, not happy with that, I did a messengerial work.  I biked to BK at Frontera Tiendesitas.  It was a good choice because there was a lot of traffic even at Angono.  The intersection going to Baytown has now become a bottle neck.  And so with the Elem School at floodway before the Highway 2000 (fishport).  Traffic too at Puregold and C5.  But I made it on time 9 am.  I was trying to fast pedal at 90 rpm as taught by Ed Valdez.   High cadence pedalling means you have to learn to breath faster and higher heart rate.  It leaves you breathless and tired after the ride.  I had to sleep after eating and weashing up

Bike ride on Black Saturday yesterday, April 4, 2015

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines   |  April 5, 2015

I rode to Antipolo yesterday.  It was a little bit late because I hesitated.  I met an accident on a Black Saturday after biking from Baguio on Holy Thursday and Good Friday.  The olds tell us that is wrong/bad to leave on Holy Week lest travel accidents befall us during our travel.

And so I rode to Antipolo church when I learned from Vhen's family after biking to Wawa.   As I have said, I felt general weakness since last Sunday due to high BS, and lack of practice.  And so climbing up Antipolo which before was a breeze, was a burden and involved a lot of huffing and ;puffing.  I had a  roadie with 53 x39 chain ring so the more it was challenging.

Lions Head Photos of Angono to Baguio City ride February 21, 2015

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines  |  February 23, 2015

Here are the pictures from the photo ops taken at Lions Head.  it is a tourist attraction, and attracts all sorts of people like honey attracts flies.

It was the most challenging part of the ride.  About 2 km ascending black mountain all sheer steep angle and then sudden switchback.  They stopped and I stopped.  I made sure I was on #27 cogs, spun, and surged and I was on my way.   Joel greeted me as I climbed all the way to Lions head.  Wow.

Some pics are so small (hindi nagamit ang zoom)

It was fiesta in Morong yesterday; we had free breakfast at Simples February 8, 2015

Wheels of Happiness

                    Enjoying free food at Simples

If you did not bike yesterday, you missed the fiesta celebration of Morong, and missed the free breakfast at Simples Lugawan.

Maybe a hundred bikers swarmed Simple's and wiped the entire profits for that early am arrival.  I never saw such great number of cyclists.

                            Lining up for their turn

We had chopsuey, Shanghai rolls, adobo, beans and gelatin for dessert

                      Others dined at the kitchen

So many bikers came in droves; these kapadyaks were finished eating

                    More bikers outside the house

What really happened to the accident of Ado Gonzaga

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines    |  January 14, 2015

Do you remember our Majayjay ride which Ado Gonzaga did not join?  He met an accident.   Reports reaching us were sketchy.

I met him today at the church yard in Antipolo and his wife.  He said this what happened.

He was going downhill and he avoided a head on collision.  As he was going down at high speed, his bike 7"d (rear wheel slid under him) and as he tried to recover, his chain jumped from the cogs and jammed the wheel causing sudden stop.  He sommersaulted, hit with the back on the pavement.  It was good he held on to his helmet.   His spyder helmet was wrecked totally, and his pump saved his back -- it cushioned his fall, however it left a heavy dent on his back.

He stopped biking for a month, and is now very careful when negotiating downhill. (I do now. We all should ride safe

I did a Pisong Kape ride today solo | January 10, 2015

Wheels of Happiness

Angono,  Rizal  |  Philippines   |  January 10,  2015

A lone Heron bird watching out in Baras field

I met Tito Fabay in  Calumpang road at about 7 am.

I rode to Pisong Kape today but I broke the rule that we should ride straight without stopping because it was drizzling.  I ate my lugaw at Simples Lugawan and then when the shower stopped I rode to Pisong Kape.  I think I passed some riders (not regular bikers).

I followed the recommendations to do sprints and anaerobic intervals and I was poofed after doing this for at least 5 times.

I also visited two memorial park sites which were recommended:  one in Baras and one in Tanay..  So it was ride with business and pleasure.

                             Site for burial grounds?

                      Near Fabian resort

I finished the bike ride at 10:30 am
