What were the thing I learned in 2022 regarding bikes

Wheels of Happiness

I thought there were many.   Here are some

1.  Making splash guard from softdrinks plastic bottle.  They are expensive and costs about P400 each
It is free when making them from used PET bottle

2.  Repairing spokes converting them from J to straight pull using pliers and inserting them at hub holes

3.  Partially truing a wheel.  The correct tightening is counterclockwise

4.  Retightening a fork top tube extender.   This is what he mechanic did to the Pinarello top tube
when it got loose from the Daraga 400 km ride

5.  Installing a goat link to SRAM red rd so that the rd can accommodate 11-36 cogs

6.  Cheap saddles are good for your butt

No Bisikleta Iglesia for JB still today - still nursing an injury

Wheels of Happiness

Recyclists Bisikleta Iglesia 2015

Fellow kapadyak Vhen Apran invited me to join him in Motorbisita Iglesia - ie we ride in tandem as we relive the Biskileta Iglesia.  I declined as I am still nursing a broken shoulder

Traditionally the Angono Recyclists hold a Bisikleta Iglesia for almost a decade.  The church visit is complete with misallete and prayers especially for Recyclists

We did not have for the last two years because of the pandemic

The churches we visited are:

1.  St Magdalene in Pililla (sometimes the Bugarin or Quisao Church  St. Vicente Alcala
2.  St. Ildefonso in Tanay
3.  St. Joseph in Baras.
4.  St. Jerome in Morong
5.  Holy Rosary in Cardona
6.  Sta Ursula in Binagonan or Sacred Heart in Tayuman
7.  St. Clement in Angono Rizal

True to our religion we join the Christendom in commemorating the Passion of Jesus Christ

Painful accident for Xian de la Cruz of Nueva Ecija at stage 2 of Ronda in Bicol

Wheels of Happiness

It is not happiness but pain, thus experienced Xian de la Cruz of the Nueva Ecija team in the 2nd stage, team trial of Ronda 2022.   It may mark the  end of the cycling career of said rider who quit school just to train for the Ronda.  So far, the hospital bill is at P300K so far and the  Ronda organizer will  put up 50% or P150K, with the other half being charged to the jeepney driver whose jeep collided with the rider (the rider flew high up  in the air as seen in the video.

The question now is who is at fault:?  The local news said the cyclists were travelling fast (it is a time trial and maybe the locals do not understand the event, and that it si the riders who counterflowed (correct)

While the project manager of the  event, a lady has all ready made statements that this is an accident that is common on all sports, the organizer has spared no effort to make this safe.

Clearly there was no marshall;  the ronda probably lacked marshall  and should have made the public road safe for the time trial  It was not safe.

This echoes the observation of the father of Xian.   It can be avoided and painful accidents like this can be avoided if not prevented.
