Our bike ride yesterday to Luisiana 182 km August 16, 2015

The tropa who rode yesterday to Luisiana

We rode to Luisiana yesterday, August 16, 2015.  There were 6 of us:

Gerry K
Pres Luis
Edgar Idol Valdez
Jeff
Nolite
Jorgeus biker

The original goal was to go Lucban  Quezon to see Kamay ni Jesus but then at Luisian, JB and Nolite say no more, no mas.  Besides it looked like rain going to Lucban.  So after taking lunch, (JB dropped the camera in the resto and realized it was missing and had to bike back after they were about 3 km out.

The 6 brave souls started out at about 6 am, and was at Pisong Kape by 7:00 and soon Edgar Valdez arrived by 7:10 all the way from Cubao. Master E joined us until Morong. As I was biking up to Bugarin, I was interviewed by an MTB rider, whom I learned was Dr. Rene Salvador, a professor of Electrical Engineering at TIP.  He lives in Morong, and used to be the Dean of Engineering at Feati. U. We resumed biking and we were in Famy by 9:10 and 10:00 am at Pagsanjan.  We were in Luisiana by 11:30.  We had lunch soon, and were back on the road by 12.  We were at Pagsanjan again by 1:30 and resumed biking.  Rain caught up with us and we were in Famy by 3:00 pm.  We were in  Tita Carmen n Jalajala by 4:30 and we arrived at 6:30.  We spent 12 hours on the road.

It was raining so hard in #Majayjay, #Lukban, #Luisiana and #Cavinti

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines   |  October 6 2014

Angel was well prepared for this;  he had a raincoat on...

"Is there Baguio, friendly Nikki?"  There is none.   While there was yesterday, battering japan (and which caused the serious injuries of FI driver Bianchi  -  huh that is a famous Italian bicycle brand) there was none at PAR.

They say that it happens all the time at Majayjay and many towns around Mt Banahaw.  And so it was in Lukban, Luisiana and Cavinti.

It was dry and hot at Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Famy Mabitac but not at Bugarin.  It was wet and cold and chilly

The most difficult part of our ride to #Majayjay yesterday; we had to use 42 gear!

Man this is steep;  very steep; steeper than Kennon, or even worse than M  (Bitukang Manok) Two Recyclists struggle walking and guiding their bikes uphill.

We had long, wet, and challenging ride yesterday to Majayjay Laguna, fellow rider Jeff Arquiza.  His parents who have house and farm there.  It took us 2 hours to arrive at their place; and 6 hours from Angono.

The most challenging part of the ride was the km or so hill that all but 5  (Choco2, Jeff, Pres Luis,  Idol and MTB Mario) of us use #42 gear.  You are right.  Using size 42 biking shoes to walk.

Fast and furious September 8 2013 ride

Real Cyclists

Angono Rizal  PHL  |  September 9, 2013

Our ride yesterday was long, and was fast and furious. As I have said those who are at the paceline:    Tito, Richard, Jeff, Chito, VM, Choco2 are sometimes called "holy maws" by the not so fast and furious bikers.  They do not want to be passed and will outspeed anyone who tries to pass them.

Speed:

The peloton was traveling at not less than 35 kph (and sometimes reach speed of 40 kph).  This is quite painful on the thighs, butts, and legs.

Distance:

If we had gone to Luisiana, we would have travelled 98 km one way or  196 km two way (just like going to Urdaneta Pangasinan).  I would guess that we only covered about 3 km going to Cavinti.  Luis broke his shift cable and it looked rain at Cavinti and probably Luisiana.  (Rain nevertheless caught up with us at Famy).  We would have travelled l66 km.  That is a lot of km (100 miles)

My whole body aches.  And my legs feel like lead.
