Rode today to OL at Bugarin with two other seniors using this orange bike. Sana OL

Wheels of Happiness

This post rode with two other seniors not knowing if this could keep up.:   Tito and Pastor Exequiel to OL Bugarin     Tito was probably doing 25 kph plus and had trouble keeping up.  Once in a while I could pass him.  Unfortunately got a flat tire in Tanay at Km 54, which was fortunately close to a vulcanizing shop.  (The the Kenda exterior is a tough tire to handle.   I passed a bump which the tire pressure did not take well)

Going up Bugarin, the gears of tito was at 50 by 25t at the rear,

I thought that at 70 yo, this post could not keep up with Recyclists.  It is time to reactivate Recyclists who do not ride as often...  Get out and ride.

The bike which is being courted for sale at P35K is light, having 1.4 kg Jetfly wheels, carbon seatpost, drop bar and 1.4 kg Bianchi frame.  It has ultegra gs, front chain rin go 53 - 39 and 10 speed cogs 11 - 32,

Bike Ride Yesterday, October 22, 2015

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines, October 23, 2015

I had not biked well for the last 3 weeks because of:  typhoon Lando, and my teaching assignment which required me to stay in Makati.

Yesterday, I biked to recover.  I started slowly using 32 front chain ring.   using 13 and 15 cogs.  However, somebody caught up with me at Cardona -  Tito.  He was saying he too had:   difficulty in doing his rides (he recovered from an illness) and he gives up when the group keeps its pace strong.  I was ahead of him from Cardona, to Morong and until Baras Morong boundary.  At Tanay, I heard Smith was with us.  I kept pedalling, fast pedal rate until Pililla municipal hall. About 200 meters from the Biak na Bato he and Smith overtook me and maybe they were riding over 25, and me at 20 kph and I was left by some 20 meters.  Well however, we still saw each other at Halayhayin.  I had Lugaw at Pisong Kape, they at Carmens resto.  It was about 8:10

Then Recyclist Edgar arrived from Bugarin. He remarked that I have not been making post here at this blog.  I made the last post and he remembered last October 3.  He was right. He too ate at Pisong Kape, then we joined Smith and Tito at Carmens.   There I met Pandoy an MTB, only 20 yo but a podium finisher.  He used to be a Mega rider (those weighing 240 lbs and above)  He now weighs at 160, the son of the owner of the motorcycle shop near AES.

At 9 am we left;  Edgar and Smith went back at Bugarin, me and Tito rode back to Morong.  He would go back to his shop because many things are to be done.  We conversed as we rode and he again continued his apprehension on his ride that were being more challenging - sign of old age, of sickness or what.  Well I said we accept the fact of aging.  How am I dong? He said he admired my passion and dedication to ride.

We parted ways at Sagbat.  I dropped by to talk to the staff of Holy Angels. I stayed there for 30 minutes and then rode home via Teresa.  Riding Teresa is not so hard anymore because of the low gears of my "cyclocross" bike.  I rode at 32 x 21 and 23 and even at 26 if needed.

I was at home by 11:00

Bike ride a day keeps the doctor away

Wheels of Happiness

I had my recovery run today (after the Laguna loop/Victoria Laguna ride) to Morong Rizal  I met about a dozen riders today on the road and 3 of them are Recyclists:  Abet, Edgar, Rommel Unidad, and Tito Fabay.

I started at 6:30 am and was in the office by 8:30 am

Not riding but on the way to Binangonan  Convention Center was Peter Anonuevo.  I think I heard him greet me and he was a blur at 40 kmh.  And then I biked back to talk to him

Several close shave with accidents for Recylists today!

Real Cyclists

Angono, Rizal  PHL  |  August 25, 2013

Three of us had close shave (encounter) with accidents today:

1.  Richard at Darangan nearly collided with a tricycle.  The tricycle headed for him straight on and with his evasive action, he and the tricycle had  few inches to spare.

2.  Tito avoided an AUV at Morong and he grazed he the AUV, he found himself at a ditch.  The AUV just turned right where Tito was passing (he did not look at his mirror)

3.  A blue elf which was travelling fast nearly sideswiped me;  it missed by just two inches. I was avoiding an obstruction and the elf came barrelling from left and did not bother to slow down nor avoid me.

Thanks God;  He still loves us and we are safe

We just have to be careful and pray for them to be careful too

Practicing for time trial today July 10 2013

Real Cyclists

Angono, Rizal  PHL    |  July 10, 2013

I biked last Monday July 8, and today to have some foundation miles and training for the time trial.  Last Monday, I biked until the Morong Municipal building.  Today I biked till km 58 in Pililla for a total of 30 km one way or 60 km two way.

I could do the morning biking because of the change of schedule at work and I was allowed by our Officer in Charge when I asked permission yesterday.  I was even asked if I would bike to Pampanga;  that is too far.

I left at 6:30 and went to mass at Sacred heart church in Tayuman.  I left at 6:50 and was km 58 by 7:50.  I biked back immediately and was in Binangonan URS by 8:50 and in Angono, Rizal by 9:10

Incidentally I saw Tito at LLDA on the way back and he did not recognize me.  He said he thought I was a young rider because I was on heavy gear (50 x 2l) and I had different uniform.  He did not see me wear the FSA uniform.  We parted ways at URS Binangonan.

I think it was a good TT practice.  I bike hard for 1 km (maybe 30+ km) then rest as many times as allowed.  I practice standing up say I km up the hills.  Tito and I did some fast interval at Calumpang highway.

My things and legs feel like stones now.  It was a good practice I think;  I covered km 58 in 1 hour. That is 30 kmh pace

Many rode today Christmas December 25

Biking and health

Despite that it is Christmas today, about 3 dozens rode today.  Some would be hiding from their god children. Or simply, they love to bike.

Only Pisong kape was open today. Most of the stores/eateries are closed.   I met Master and Tito there.  Tito said he came from Quisao "Titira sana" (ng alin joked Master Edwin) But there was a slight shower, hence he turned back.  I ordered boiled egg for breakfast.

I rode to Malaya and expected that I would not catch with them.  I caught up with them though near Maybancal (near the Simples Lugawan) and rode until home.  There was shower in Cardona.

Tito said he was going to his piggery "Magpapaligo" as we descended the Cardona LLDA hills.  It was Master and I till Angono,  Traffic was heavy in Darangan and Tayuman Barrio Rd.  (I just got the word that Nolite did a round Jalajala.  He arrived  l pm)  He said he had to stop 3 times because it was raining.

I arrived almost 12.  NO more namamasko by this time.  Only hearty lunch and cold drinks.  Merry Christmas
