Ride Carefully, "Iwasang Mangaliwa!!?"

Bike and Save the Earth

It is unfortunate that as we bike to commemorate the passion of the Lord, one of our fellow bikers met an accident.  He descended too fast at Cardona (we told it is easy riding) overtook a vehicle on a double yellow lane portion, and met a tricycle going up also at a fast clip.  In order to avoid hitting the tricycle and being hit by the vehicle he overtook, our companion swerved to the right (NANGALIWA, KUMALIWA!?) He braked, the rear wheel slid under him and hit the nearly foot high gutter.  He broke his fork, blew his front tire.  He had some injuries though:  his face and lips were swollen;  his earlobes and nose bled.  But they were minor though. HE WAS WEARING A HELMET AND A SAFETY EYE WEAR.

                                        He was wearing a helmet;  he had minor injuries

                               The fuck one, fuck all spirit;  we had to see if he is ok?

                   Where it happened; let us pray and be careful always as we ride

         Master stressing, "huwag manga2liwa" even pointing to the double yellow lane marks!

He had to ride home though and was accompanied by Angel.

We visited him on the way home and he was OK.  Only a wounded pride.

               Master examining the fork;  you have to get a new one - HUWAG MANGA2LIWA!

                             That is Luis peeping;  many guys said hello sa nangaliwa?

Would he be able to join the Sunday's Real Ride?  Maybe no because his bike is a doubtful starter because his fork is broken (could we offer him spoon hahaha?!) VM would lend him a Colnago look alike?

But get the message from the Master Edwin, "HUWAG MANGANGALIWA"  Ride carefully.

Be alert and ready.

l.  Descend at a safe speed;

2.  No overtaking at a section marked with double yellow paint.

3.  Avoid overtaking large vehicles while descending;  it will make you overspeed and lose control;

4.  And ''HUWAG MANGANGALIWA;  DELIKADO!"

5.  Do not assume that other motorists will treat you differently or give you right of way just because of your being a biker.  We are on the same level on the road food chain as road kill animals and pedestrians.  Be aware that he will not give you any headroom or inch or a wide berth.  He will do crazy things and you must be alert and ready.

Ride carefully.  Pray always.  Wear your helmet always for your protection.  Had our colleague not worn his helmet, we would not have conversed with him now.
