January 29, 2017
I practiced going up Teresa solo after going to Baras last Friday January 27, 2017 and then to Antipolo. There was heavy traffic before the town proper (before the town market They must improve the traffic management there, the tricycle, the loading and unloading) And then up the hills. I used only 42 (which Pareng Luis says unduly stresses the chain) up to 32 and 36. I am surprised that I could manage the climb (as I managed the climb to Sampaloc and I did not have to get down. Engr. June said he did get down)
On the final hill, a roadie caught up with me . He had a Litespeed titanium. He said he is from Town and Country, and a systems engineer in Makati. But having an MTB gave me an advantage over his bike. I could surge; he could not
Thereafter I went to Antipolo church where I heard mass
A senior thinks, rides, solves problems, repairs bikes, thinks discusses about other sports. What senior should do to keep fit

My MTB ride today January 24, 2016
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines
January 24, 2016
I rode the SAVA MTB today, no shoes only tsinelas. Idol si Pablong Tsinelas I first went up to Antipolo Church and tried to line up for the blessing of articles. But the line was long for cars, religious articles (does this include bike). The archdiocese is well organized for the blessing business. The seminarians are in a booth, and there are two booths with long lines of devotees who line up to pay, and who line up to get blessing
Going to Taytay Palengke, I raced with two commuting MTBs (ayaw padaig) Going up Antipolo, I overtook all except one road rider (23 pa biggest cog) A Villamayor mechanic Veto said he met me at Beverly and said I was walking with my bike. Jejeje. Poor eyesight.
Going to Teresa, I also passed other riders (MTB) including one who was riding a Giant MTB and with Giant jersey. However, going downhill at Teresa, he passe me. He overtook on a curve (zigzag ang Teresa) because I would collide head on with a trailer. So I just allowed him.
I finished my ride with a huffing and puffing at Cardona diversion. You really get stronger and more adventuresome (no fear) when you ride a mt. bike. You do not fear the ruts, and bumps, and places that do not have roads.

My bike ride today to Antipolo December 24, 2015
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines
December 24, 2015
It is a day before Christmas. Merry Christmas tomorrow.
Today I rode up to Antipolo City and rode my SARS roadie. What a big difference between the MTB and the road bike. It was faster, lighter, albeit harsh on the butt. But I rode up Antipolo faster and downhill faster. The two bikes have their specific purposes and function.
There, in the mass (I finished the mass) I met Jeff Libunao who is from QC. He owns a car paintworks near the Mother Lily Building near Timog. He is a lay minister of their church, and found out he likes car (like BMW 320i and the Forester (that is how is got him on conversation because he wore a jersey with Subaru words on it) which he has now and which we have in the house) He rode on a Pinarello Dogma, one of the best looking and most expensive carbon bike in the world, VM has two.
Those who more numerous were the MTB. I passed in Taytay to buy item for the exchange gift at the Recyclists Chrismas party at Jess Verchez house on December 26, 2015, Birthday din ni Echo
Happy birthday.

Group pic after we finally met at around 11 after they biked to OL and I to Jalajala
This biker started out to Antipolo at 6:30 am reaching the church at about 7:10. That should have been earlier, had pictures of the Red Cross not been taken.

I rode today Black Saturday and met Sec Joel, Master and Ado at Pisong Kape in Pililla
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines. | Black Saturday.
Despite having crashed on a Black Saturday about 4 yeas ago at Shang, I broke my nose bridge - the titanium eyeglass frame stuck into the bridge when I crashed after my roadbike wheels fell into their dangerous gratings,. (I biked to Baguio on a Good Friday) I still biked today. (I did not bike on Good Friday though)
I left at 6:30 am and biked to Antipolo. On the way near Aurora, I saw Ado. I arrived at the church at around 7:10 Then stayed awhile at Antipolo church; there was no mass - only a vigil. I met Pres Luis at the gate of the churchyard.
I was in Teresa by 7:30 and in Morong by 8:00 am where I ate my lugaw at Simples Lugawan. I learned that they read the FB of Jorgeusbiker and read this post. Thank you po Simples Lugawan. I asked if there were other Recyclists who dropped by. She said Joel. So I rode going to Pililla.
And there at Hacienta Pisong Kape, I met Ado, Joel, Master and Sec. We told stories for a while and talked about our blog and FB post. They went ahead as I bought singkamas. I was not able to catch up with them. I was in Binangonan by 11:00 am and at Angono by 11:30. It was very hot by then
My neighbor inquired how do I survive in the heat. I said because of the helmet and the quick dry fit clothes/jersey. It was nice to be home
God bless every one. Have a pleasant Black Saturday celebration/rest.

I met Ka Duroy a 71 year old cyclist from Karuhatan Valenzuela City
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | April 6, 2014
I biked to Antipolo City quite late. I departed at 8:30 am and arrived at the Antipolo Church at about 9:00 am. Climbing the City, I used 50 x 19 up to before Beverly and shifted to 34 x 23 at Beverly. I accelerated right after Alta Vista and went on to attend mass.
There I met Kaduroy (claims he was left by his 6 other companions) There were lots of kuwento. He says he is 71. Nakaka 3 1/2 pa raw siya (3 meals and 1/2 cr) He seems to be enjoying wife. He does not like what his wife is doing to him though: not giving him allowance for this bike and pawning his monthly pension of P5t for P10t without his knowledge. (Bad!)

Christ the King Celebration/Fiesta at Muzon today, November 24, 2013
Wheels of Happiness
Angono Rizal, PHL | November 24, 2013
I noticed as I started to bike to Antipolo before 7 am this morning that vehicles were advised not to proceed to Muzon and instead rerouted to Baytown. The reason, it is fiesta day in Muzon. Vehicles likewise going to Angono, from Taytay were rerouted to Villa Valera and Baytown for the same reason.
In Antipolo church, the seat of the Archdiocese, the celebration was even more pronounced. Most of the bikers finished the mass, so did I.

What is the profile of a typical week-end biker?
Real Cyclists
Rizal PHL | October 20, 2013
As I rode today to Antipolo Church, I wondered what is the typical weekend rider? What are his demographics psychographics.
I made some hypothesis:
Demographics: from Angono, Taytay, Binanonganan, Antipolo, Marikina, Pasig
Age: 30 - 60 years
Typically working, with a job (no one with a job can afford the expensive MTBs and road bikes unless somebody gave it to him), may be overweight, with flabs,
Psychographics: He bikes for health reasons, to live longer, ward of high BP, cholesterol bs and uric acid.
He likes to show off and invest in expensive bike gadgets, and showy and expensive shoes, biking shorts and jersey. Typically rides with a group on a weekend.
Many ride up to Antipolo: to test climbing skills and to go to church. Two birds with one ride
Many rode today. There must be over 50 bikers in Antipolo church yard for a single mass (they have 6 masses during the entire day)
I met Rolan from Marikina 61 years old; he used to play basketball and he rode today for health reasons
Multicolored jerseys worn by bikers attending mass at Antipolo church
Atypical bikers; they do not mix with the elderly
Bikes and more bikes - they must be worth millions
Repentant and or devoted elderly bikers inside the church
So many bikes
So many biked today
More bikes
Another senior biker
Rolan is a 61 year rider; I am older

Biking to Bicol
Real Cyclists
Rizal, PHL | August 2, 2013
30th year of the archidiocese, the bishop said the mass
Today I biked to Antipolo City and went to Antipolo Church of Our Lady of Good Voyage. The good Archibishop said the mass.
While seated at the patio of the church, I got to know Danny from floodway who was telling how they had a trip to Bicol. I attempted that trip too with Angel and Gerry. He is the friend of Mon Apuya.(from whom I got inspiration to do a Sorsogon ride)
He said that they got as far as Sorsogon in 3 days. You must average 200 km a day to be able to do this. He said they covered up to Gumaca <Danny's relative> in day l, Legaspi in day 2 and Sorsogon <Mons place> in Day 3. You just do 25 kmh in 8 hours and you can cover the distance. You eat breakfast and lunch only. You eat snacks as you ride.
Leave early at say 4 am; ride slowly after eating and do not sit out long. You can just bring one short and two jersey for the ride, but complete set of tools. You install new tires and interior for the ride and have everything adjusted.
For the first day, do not go by way of Luisiana. Travel via turbina but via Bitukang Manok; it is steeper but is shorter to travel.

I attended the mass at Antipolo, the 7 to 8 o clock mass. I left only after the mass was finished at final blessing to bike to Morong Maybancal. Here are some of the views:
Inside of Antipolo church and priest leading the Eucharist ceremonies
He is Ruben and is biking because of heart condition
Bikers attending the mass, praying for safe ride always

They belong to a club?
Faithful bikers
My SARS bike all alone
A large TV monitor for those watching the mass outside
A discovery jersey
Unusual ladies jeans design
A biker's jersey with smileys (mostly Sta Claus?)
