Our staff decided to have  the PE for Saturday (physical fitness) today at Church in the Sky, at de la Cuesta, Muzon Taytay Rizal.  Since I arrived early, I tried to climb the church early.  It is always a challenging task to go to the church.  There is the last portion, only 30 meters long, that is steep. The longer portion about 400 meters is long and medium steep.   But the last 30 meters can take your breath away;   the 68 year old man, a former biker himself, says he can ride that portion up.

Well  I rode down to see other colleagues and climbed the hill again.  My gear was  32 x 28.   for the second climb.  For the first climb it was 32 x 36.

The ride this morning was probably 3 km from Angono x 2, 6 and total up and down the church was 4 km.  I sweated a lot from this climb and must have burned plenty of cholesterol, uric acid, and blood sugar

Tomorrow, there is a proposed ride  to Lukban Quezon. But the extreme heat now makes the possibility of that dim.  We may get a stroke or something else.  May be some other day.

This morning, our co workers had a PE at Church in the Sky (Christ the KIng) in Muzon Taytay. They walked. I biked (MTB) I had to climb it thrice. First ride up was shaky.  The bike zig zagged, I lost control and I had to get off the bike.

I tried again after the mass, to test whether it was the bike or my knees that had a defect.   None had the defect.  I was able to climb it up to the church without stopping  I met certain Engr Nino a chief surveyor of Sta. Lucia.   Who was 63 and admired I was able to do it.

Then came the last employee who joined and asked her to accompany me up.  I had to climb again.   It was kind of hard practice.

I suppose, very few of the parishioners manage to climb and attend church.    There is a lot of puffing and huffing that goes on.  On the other hand, those who go to church either spends a lot on tricycles, or are very healthy.

Gerry Cataps wrecked wheel set repaired for lower price than the damages he asked from tricycle owner

                                                  The wrecked  wheel set

                                                   Ang nakabangga

Gerry C rode with us today, with the repaired wheelset.  It was wrecked about two weeks ago in ride to Majayjay:   a tricycle bumped him from behind in Namay, Morong Rizal. He was thrown several feet away but his RD and rear wheel were wrecked.  I estimated for the investigator that the damage was P30t. Before they departed, Gerry lowered the damage to P5t.  Later on when they settled, Gerry accepted only P4t for the damages.  Sa awa sa Ms. who works in the munisipyo.

Today I learned that he spent only P700 for the repair.  Edward of Muzon did the repair.  I suppose Gerry must return the P3,000 to the tricycle driver if he is truly kind?

Or the rest should compensate him for the pain and anguish he suffered.

Now I know the meaning of being edgy, after having ridden side by side with 20 wheeler trucks

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines   | October 16, 2014

This morning I brought my Fuji bike again to the fiberglass shop to have the front derailleur repaired.  The initial repair did not last and had to be repaired.  However on the way, there were two very long 20 wheelers (hauling gravel and sand from LaFarge quarry in Angono to Megawide)  The truck drivers were rather competitive and had a lot of hustle.  As he drove he was driving towards the edge of the road and I had to ride carefully because I might fall and run over by the long truck.

On the way back I passed 5 long trucks. Of course we do not want to be frightened by these behemoths lest we lose control and crash.

I had to ride close to right side of the road, at the edgy.  Now I know what i means to be edgy.

Everyday when we ride we are at risk:   MC on counterflow;   jeepneys riding, buzzing close by, pedestrians suddenly crossing the street;  cars speeding by as we speed with only inches to spare.   And now these huge long trucks, driving fast on narrow roads in Muzon.

 God bless our ride always.

Christ the King Celebration/Fiesta at Muzon today, November 24, 2013

Wheels of Happiness

Angono Rizal, PHL  |  November 24, 2013

I noticed as I started to bike to Antipolo before 7 am this morning that vehicles  were advised not to proceed to Muzon and instead rerouted to Baytown.  The reason, it is fiesta day in Muzon. Vehicles likewise going to Angono, from Taytay were rerouted to Villa Valera and Baytown for the same reason.

In Antipolo church, the seat of the Archdiocese, the celebration was even more pronounced.  Most of the bikers finished the mass, so did I.
