Mr. Vhen Apran and I practiced today by riding from Angono to Morong, Teresa, and Antipolo. Unfortunately for me, I lost the missing link near the new Taytay Market. I had to do a scooter like ride ie pushing off with left leg and coasting along when there is momentum. Fortunately for Vhen, he rescued me and pushed me home from San Francisco to near M. Diaz. Thanks Vhen
But we had great ride. Going up between Morong and and Teresa, and Teresa and Antipolo. I did not have to go to 32 sprocket. Only 28 t. We spent some time at Antipolo Church.
Ride last April 22, 2018
Four of us rode: Reymundo Pactao, I, Jovencio and Jaime Maravillosa. It was supposed to be a 3j practice ride for the 1,800 km odyssey to GenSan. The 3J are: Jorge, Jaime, and Jovencio
Reymundo, I and Vhen were on the first part of the practice from Angono to Morong. Since Reymundo is young I have to keep pace with him. However, I mayabang tried to outsprint him at Callahan and Namay. Medyo dipa lang ang distancia.
Then Jim joined us at Pisong Kape. We were not clear as to where we were going. They changed from Jalajala to Bugarin and to Bugarin I went up. (Di pala sa Jala jala) But they joined me later on. Reymond was pacing at 10 to 12 kph and the two other seniors were left by about a km. We had buko at OL and then went home. It was pretty hot. And this calls for early biking time to avoid the heat.
A senior thinks, rides, solves problems, repairs bikes, thinks discusses about other sports. What senior should do to keep fit

Bike ride today, July 23, 2017 to Bugarin; rode together with Gerry and Vhen

Sava Ti Bike at Ali Express
I rode to Bugarin today. I brought out my Sava Ti.(MTB) On the way from Tayuman to Morong, I rode with Gerry Cataps. We tried to chase a roadie with white and blue Jersey. I overtook him for a while in Cardona, but he overtook me at Callahan and so with Gerry. We had lugaw in Morong and those who came were: Alan, Netoy and and Echo (long time no see) We decided we would ride to OL. And so we rode together with Taytay riders. I did not see much of Gerry, but I remember overtaking Alan. And towed Gerry for a while. At Baras hill, the tropa overtook me and may be they were ahead by about 500 meters at Pililla. I did not see Gerry and Alan but later on I saw them going down all ready at km 67.
I rode up to km 68 (Bugarin na) and at heavy gear. 42 x 18 to 28. That was a hard ride on a big chain ring. On the way back I saw Vhen. He said he was chasing me from Morong, and then from Pisong Kape to Bugarin and from OL up to km 57 of Pililla. We rode together alternating tranco. We had some buko and turon at store near the intersection of diversion and road from Cardona. We met many Mambog riders there.
However at Binangonan Convention Center rain started to fall, and we had to seek shelter from the rains, after being exposed to very hot environment. We spent about 30 minutes for two episodes or rain. We were home by 12 noon

My bike ride yesterday with Vhen to Pililla

March 23, 2016
I did not expect that I would be able to ride with Vhen. He and Ed de los Reyes had a date at 7:00 am yesterday at Maybancal and then ride to Antipolo manga to buy bike parts. So by chance I rode to Maybankal baka "masagbat." (that is the name of the intersection). None was there by 7:30 my time of arrival. So I ate lugaw for breakfast.
As I was departing for Pisong Kape, Vhen arrived, still no Ed. He too ate lugaw. We decided to ride to Pililla together. He had a road bike, I had an MTB, the white Mosso MTB with Xt groupset. Naturally he would have a lighter and faster bike. But I was ahead especially at the Baras Tanay uphill section. Did 25 on flats and 42 kph downhill, about 14 kph going up. We rode until km 58. When we rode back we had companions from Darangan Binangonan. One had an expensive looking carbon frame MTB with XT groupset. They sprinted initially but were left behind.
Vhen was surprised that was the case. Was it because of the bike, or was it because I was well practiced?

Tito Fabay and I joined the PNP race Binangonan, Cardona diversion loop 4x last March 6, 2016. We did practice ride of 3x at the route that is why we thought we could finish it. We did it. Tito finished 8th at the Executive Category. That was a great finish considering that it is 45 above grouping. The 45 (or even below racers) would definitely do better than us. And considering that some even cheated....
So enough for that. I met Tito yesterday en route to Maybancal Morong where Vhen, and Ed was supposed to meet for ride to Manga to buy some parts/accessory. (Ed forgot and did not arrive)
Tito told that his practice yesterday was a 3x loop at diversion. Wow. I should do that sometime.

Vhen standing up pedalling at the section before the waiting shed
I wanted to try out the Audax route which will be held this coming Saturday. I am not joining this anymore on Ed Valdez revelation that it is a very challenging route. He said it is more difficult than Marcos Highway route to Baguio. I could not do that. His companion, young champions at that had game over going back to Sierra Madre.
So just trying out today, I convinced Vhen who said it is his independence day today with his day (Malaya ngayon - I thought he planned to go to Malaya Pililla) to bike to Sampaloc. He said hindi niya kaya. I convinced him we ride slowly and if there is a problem we stop. And so we went.
He was game though. Our only stops were at the store before Padre Pio, and the waiting shed. He said we must take pictures to show to every one that we did it.
It rained as soon as we reached the buko stop and we had new friends: Alvin and Gary Martinez who was selling his land rights for P30.00 per sm (for 5 hectares) They were supplying buko to the outlet. I bought coffee from the kuya there.
When the rain stopped we biked to Regina Rica. Vhen convinced me to descend. But the return ride was steep and very challenging. I had to use the lowest gear. 34 x 28. I survived the return ascent Then time to look for lunch We went to the market where we had decent lunch: rice plus mongo cost P42.00 (mahal na rin) It was around 11. It rained again. We were able to start again at 11:30. Dropped by the Sampaloc church. It rained again and we stopped at the buko stop. We had coffee and bj again (buko juice) We conversed about the passion of the kuya - taking care of the Brahman cows. He now has four. It is opportunity to get rich as my uncle who had two pairs and probably would not have a hundred. The cattle are adapted to the cool weather of Tanay and do well in trimming the grass and vegetation of large properties. He can have milk and cheese. And later on he will slaughter cows for meat. Time to level up.
We were downtown Tanay by 1:00 and we expected to be home by 2:00. We passed by Ed at about 1:45. And we were home by 2:30. Vhen said he was laspag at Morong by 1:30. He doused and drank plenty of water and soon recovered.
Our first stop for a drink at Sampaloc
Ready to ride again and ride the saddle going up
This means I was ahead of Vhen by about 30 meters ha6
Great photo of Vhen
On the way to the waiting shed

Vhen joined me at Sampaloc ride, shown here with a new friend Alvin
at buko stop. He also joined me visiting Ed de los Reyes (7 days) who
was reported to be sick. He will get well soon
I texted Ed de los Reyes when he said he could not join the PNP race to get well. He texted me that he has gouty arthritis, his creatine level was high (so he needed dialysis) and that he has low hemoglobin, to get well, to take Llanol (allopurinol for his gouty arthritis) and to have dialysis for a longer.... He did not reply to this.
I visited him last week but he was not at home. So today after Vhen and I rode to Sampaloc and Regina Rica, I requested him to visit Ed (7 days) to which he obliged. Vhen was happy for this request because he had a chance to rest and be ready for the LLDA ascent. And so we conversed with Ed. He has fever every afternoon, but he tested negative for an infection characterized by low fever every afternoon. As for the gout, he could not control the diet but takes meds regularly. I advised him to take the real allopurinol - Llanol which I detailed as a drug reps so many years back. I was an ex pert on gouty arthritis and xanthine oxidase blocker.
As for low hemoglobin I advised him to take sweet potato leaves steamed or malunggay leaves. I teased about only old people getting gout. And that he should get well to join us again in biking. Like we did today to Sampaloc.

My bike ride today with Vhen to Antipolo from Teresa
Wheels of Happiness

August 18, 2015
I rode today to Antipolo and Teresa today and back to Antipolo. I used the fast cadence technique being endorsed by Ed Valdez. I had the gear at 44 x 15 on level road and 44 x 17 going up. I had up to 44 x 26 at Beverly. On the way up I encountered Peter Francisco whom I overtook near Alta Vista and wondered who I was. (Peter is a 68 yo Taytay rider but very fit and strong for his age all due to biking)
I overtook another MTB near Robinson using 44 x 17. But as I rode down, I shifted to 44 x 13 and banked well, rode the apex and the sides exiting the apex. I had my Lugaw at the Teresa curve and as soon as I finished my lugaw, Vhen, whom I talked to yesterday at Wawa arrived.
Going back he said he would follow me and try to see how I do with the low gearing of the Deore. I had my gears at 44 x26 and 44 x 30 max. And also stood at the Solid cement, where I left him. We were totally drenched in sweat. He arrived some 3 minutes later at Robinson where I waited for him. Then we went to Antipolo church. We met Eric Feliciano, who looks like he is a priest, who bikes, and enjoined us to "ingat"
We were home by 10 am.
