Nice and very light handle bar from Lazada by Ed de los Reyes

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
January 24, 2018

I passed by the  house of Ed de los Reyes in Cardona and saw his newly acquired carbon fiber drop bar. it is so nice with holes for cables and very light. The ads say it is only 240 grams.  Imagine that. Some alum drop bar would be in 400 to 500 grams weight.   Who cares whether it is from China or  Lazada.  Magaan at Maganda naman

Merry mix up in ride to Tagaytay today, October 22 2017

Wesluk, Gerry, Netoy, Meong and Alan

Ed and Al, we left as soon as they arrived

The Recyclists rode up to Tagaytay City today, leaving Angono by 6:10 and arriving 7:30 in Angono (we were waiting for Ed de los Reyes and Al Alegre who were with Jorgeusbiker and Weng Balubar by 5:00 pm near Bicutan intersection. The two claimed they were just some 100 meters behind near the Condos on the west service road.  (The group waited for them for nearly two hours.  Jeff looked for them but failed to see them.  We attempted to contact them by text and call but no one answered)

On the other hand, the group thought that JB got lost: they waited for him at Highway 2000, at  waiting shed of in front of Camp Bagong Diwa and 711 in Alabang. However, JB lost sight of them upon take off and thinking that the group turned left to Baytown rode in that direction. The leadership failed to inform him that they would pass at MEG instead.

And so thinking he was left behind, he rode faster.  When he looked at his phone, there were 13 calls and  several texts.  He was all ready in Balibago, and the rest were still in San Pedro, some 30 minutes behind

Those who joined were:

Gerry Cataps
Meong
Jess Verchez
Weng Balubar
Angel Balubar
Pres. Wesluk
Gerry Cataps
Jorgeusbiker
Netoy Mariposa
\Ed de los Reyes (7days)
Al Alegre
Jeff Arquiza
Alan Astorga
Peter Anonuevo

14 in all

Master and Joel showed up, but did not join

What was new that Tagaytay climb is now via  Sta Rosa, and descent is via Aguinaldo highway which is much simpler to navigage and faster.

                                              Netoy and Gerry

Gerry and Weluk taking snacks some 2 km to Tagaytay

Some nice looking furniture (and very expensive too)

Edgar de los Reyes our kapadyak from Cardona is getting better

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
April 15, 2017

I visited Edgar (7 days) today as I rode with Vhen today, to say hello.  (When we say how do you do, people are really saying "I love you"  from a Louie Armstrong song).

So he is much better now, he gained weight and is color is back to normal.  He said he used to feel faint and breathless even when biking for a short distance.  The symptoms: bum stomach, pain from gout, faint, difficulty in breathing appeared after the Baguio ride.

I also found out that he has been taking energy drink for about a year (which MDs are saying to be bad for the health).  It must have caused his high uric acid, the gouty arthritis, and his problem with the kidneys.

Warnings issued on Energy Drinks

He is suffering from low iron/RBC, pain from gout, and high creatinine (candidate for dialysis)   He is on Chinese and Western medication.  The Chinese medication said it took care of his RBC and kidney.   The Western med took care of his low RBC, his kidney.  But his high uric acid level is not being addressed.

He is 60 years old and I said to him we have to thank the Lord for that long joyful years of life He gave us. We even thank Him for bonus number of years.  If we get sick, He alone knows the best of us and we offer the same to Him, including the pain and discomfort.

But Ed will get better if he wants to because he alone is the best doctor for himself.

Think of good things not bad. Think of HAPPINESS, not sad.

Get better Ed.

Tito Fabay does the Diversion loop for his pracice

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
March 23, 2016

Tito Fabay and I joined the PNP race Binangonan, Cardona diversion loop 4x last March 6, 2016.  We did practice ride of 3x at the route that is why we thought we could finish it.  We did it.  Tito finished 8th at the Executive Category.  That was a great finish considering that it is 45 above grouping. The 45 (or even below racers) would definitely do better than us.  And considering that some even cheated....

So enough for that.  I met Tito yesterday en route to Maybancal Morong where Vhen, and Ed was supposed to meet for ride to Manga to buy some parts/accessory.  (Ed forgot and did not arrive)

Tito told that his practice yesterday was a 3x loop at diversion. Wow.  I should do that sometime.

Who among the 50 and above will win tomorrow's Bugarin bike race?

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
December 19, 2015

Merry Christmas on Friday

Yesterday, I biked to Pisong Kape.  There I met Ed Valdez, Ed de los Reyes (7 days) and Pablo (Tsinelas)  Ed 7 days and I were ahead at Pisong Kape and we were discussing who are most likely to win the race at Bugarin on Sunday (sponsored by Manang Rita)   Among Boy walang practice, Ed V and Pablo, who would win.  Ed 7 days shouted it is going to be Ed V.  And just then Ed V and Pablo arrived.

Pablo conceded it is going to be Ed V.

They however lament that if O conducts it the way he conducted this for Pisong Kape, it is going to be tiring and demotivating. These senior riders lament:

1. Syndicates, corporation, as they called who view these races as livelihood and not for sportsmanship or fun.  They will cooperate to win at all costs including harassing other riders.

2.  Non observance of age groups.   40s join the 50 above group, etc.  A lot of dishonesty take palce.

Anyway, Ed V and Pablo went on to go to Bugarin and do the Jala jala loop. They invited me to join and promised there will be sprints.   Ed and I just went home
