Nice bike of Boyeth

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
December 20, 2017

Yesterday I rode to Morong.  On the way, I heard the usual greeting that Boyeth saw me.  As I was riding back to Callahan I saw him and then at Cardona, at a traffic, somebody saw him all ready.  He turned around fearing it would rain (it did rain later on)

But I saw his nice bike and I requested that I inspect it over a cup of coffee He did.  It really looked like an Orbea with a 105 group set bought from VM (only at P10,000)

Hey hey the gang was here at Simples Lugawan

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
July 17, 2016

It was a great day to bike today.   Many ART were at Simples Lugawan this morning:    Ed de los Reyes, Meong, Master, Pres Luis, Angel Balubar, Pres Luis, Jess Verchez myself, Gerry Cataps, Vic. Tsalap Joel.

On the way, I did tempo and even race like ride with Meong. (Before going up Mambog, Buboy was pulled from behind.  At Callahan, Meong raced up but slowed down at the ice plant.  I stood at the Queen Mary and chased him and overtook him at the crest.  He was ahead downhill but I raced ahead of him at munisipyo.  At Namay, he and Ed de los Reyes coming from nowhere raced up and gave up before the crest.

We ate lugaw at Simples.  Gerry Y arrived when we were about to leave for Pisong Kape. It was a great day for bikers. About 3 dozen bikers ate lugaw at Simples today.

Then we went to Pisong Kape.  I chased the lead group consisting of Gerry, Meong.  Then Angel went up ahead and followed him  He left me when he got ahead of a Reymond bus and the rest overtook me at the Baras hill.  They left me and could not get in touch with them.  I turned back at Pililla municipal building. And went home.

I saw Secx at Simples who just arrived. I decided to depart.  It was hot day today for a ride.

Practice ride 2x loop arond Cardona diversion Binangonan route - getting stronger and faster

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
March 29, 2016

I had my practice ride today riding around the Cardona diversion twice.   The difficult portion there are as was experienced in every time we ride to Morong and Pililla are:    the Mambog portion, Callahan, the diversion  (there are about 3 hills there, the first one being  the toughest) and the LLDA portion.  I just did the 2x next time I increase it to 3 and eventually 4. to simulate  the race situation.  I guess this ride makes me stronger.

My growing riding time make me faster too. Before, I can only sprint max to 30 kph.  Now I can do 35 kph at a much sustained (say 15 seconds) period.

Building endurance for the Ride to #Caliraya this Sunday

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines   | September 11,  2014

We ride this Sunday to Caliraya via Cavinti despite the Mayweather fight (he is a cheat anyway.  Remember how he KO'd an opponent on a break?)

For this I need to build my endurance and stamina.  (and even strength)  Yesterday afternoon, I rode to Cardona up to Callahan.

This morning, I had  long ride.  I rode up to Antipolo from 6 to 7:30 and had some office work until 9:00.  Going up Antipolo, I saw a senior with a red, yellow and blue jersey just like mine. He overtook me at Marian Hills and I though I would not catch with him.  However I saw him slow down at Beverly.  Before Alta Vista, I overtook him.  He overtook me at the curve, but before the crest, I did an interval and passed him again.

Jorgeusbiker chased and even overtook much younger roadies yesterday

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal  Philippines   I   August 25, 2014

I intended to have slow drive to Morong yesterday.  So I chose light gears and rode at leisurely pace of say 18 to 22 kph and using low gears.  34  x 17 and 34 x 19.    So it went from Tayuman to Cardona.   However near the crest of Montevideo,  two riders overtook me. One with Yellow Orange Jersey with white bike, and other one with yellow bike and pink jersey.  They were ahead of me by 100 meters all of a sudden.  I caught up with the pink rider near the crest of hill before Iglesia in Cardona. Then the orange yellow rider loomed right before the Cardona municipal hall and caught up with him at the foot of the hill of Callahan. He recognized the bike that I brought as belonging to VM I was ahead of him going up till Mary  Hospital but he stood up and left me by some ten meters near the iceplant.   And was side by side with him at the summit. I overtook him downhill and was ahead but I lost steam at km 43 to 44.   I caught up with him after the market and even surged ahead of him at Namay.  If the Simples lugawan was the finish line, then I  was the winner.

The two riders were very much younger than me.  When I asked the yellow and orange rider, (he said his name is Ramson and from Taytay) he said he was 40+ and was surrpised I rode that hard and even overtook him

Ben complained that he had 0 pictures at the Kaybiang ride; here is the make up post

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines  |  December 8, 2013

It is the feast of Immaculate Concepcion today.

I rode side by side with Ben today, after I overtook him in Bilibiran.  He was riding tempo, a recovery ride.   He complained to me that I did not post any picture of him in last weeks ride to Ternate.  I was not sure whether that was correct but anyway, I am posting his pictures for make up.

He is more senior than me but a very fast and strong rider.

I was able to take these pictures because I got ahead of him in Callahan

How I biked yesterday, October 6, 2013

Real Cyclists

I left at 6:30 and as usual I went to the Sacred Heart Parish.  It was a lonely ride from Sacred Heart until I reached Mambog area.  I spun for most of the time but I tried to be in the 25+ kph speed.  There at Mambog, Richard and Armin caught up with me.  We took pictures of the accident and then biked on.

Seniors day?  I would break air for them

Armin and Richard told me they would not overtake me and I would be the one to break air for them.  I did hard interval going up at Montevideo, and even at Callahan.   Yet they were kidding me that I was getting stronger and I was loaded (kargado).  They allowed me to lead at Callahan, at the straightway from Cardona to Morong.  Then we stopped at Maybancal for Lugaw.  We were there at about 7:45.  Then we met the other guys:  Engr. June, Joel, Master, Richard, Armin  (VM was there)

At about 8:15, we started out for Pililla.  I tried to gain headway, but always and ever, they caught up with me at hillside between Tanay and Cardona but they were never far away. At most they were ahead of me by 500 meters or maybe l minute +.

Going back, I tried to be ahead and overtook Nolite at the Pililla ascent.   Going up at Baras the gang ganged up on me, however it was sweet revenge vs Eddie Pama who lost power as we raced for the summit.

I did not stop at Simples on the way home.  I negotiated LLDA using 53 x 23 (hard gears) to gain strength.

I was poofed out when I got home and this was indicative of the hard effort I put into the ride.

Recyclist bike ride today September 1, 2013

Real Cyclists

September l, 2013

Choco2 joined me in Darangan at 6:38

It is Sunday, as usual there is a regular all out bike ride today by Recyclists.  I left at 6: 10 this morning and said a little prayer at Sacred Heart Parish.  When I reached Darangan, Choco2 was there  and as I stopped to take pollution pictures but he wont.  Past the Binangonan Convention Center, Richard came;  I took some more pictures;  then we climbed Mambog. I even overtook the 2 before the summit;  but then my thighs burned, I slowed down and they were ahead of me by some l5 meters and then disappeared downhill.  Some mt bikers overtook me.

But I caught up with them at Callahan;  they slowed down going uphill.  I caught sight of Choco2 and Richard and they were merely ahead by 20 meters going up Callahan.  They sped away.

At Cardona Morong highway, I time trialled however again the Mt. Bikers were fast and good at negotiating traffic.  We arrived at Morong Maybancal by 7:15 which was pretty fast.  Choco2 and Richard went straight to Pisong Kape.  We had lugaw and buchi at Simples.   Those who were there:
Master, Joel, Nanding, Peter, Tito,;  then VM Pres Luis, and Armin arrived later.  I met Eddie Pama whom I befriended.  I met him before at 711 Col Guido and at the Bosoboso ride.

We left earlier (Eddie and I) from Maybancal.  so that we could have headstart.  The peloton caught with us at KM 52 (going up the hill to Tanay)  We however caught with the peloton at km 57.  Eddie taught me how to use the gears.  Low low gears going up but shifting to l5 or l7 as soon as you reach the summit.  Shift to 53x l5 as soon as you go downhill.

We were with the peloton when we arrived at Pisong Kape.  Then we went duo up Bugarin where we arrived at 9:10  We had buko at Km 70 with friends of Eddie from Davao City.

We biked down at  9;45 and we rested at Morong by 11: 00. There was this lady there who offered us manicure.  She said she is from Naga City and had 2 husbands who are old.  And they are not good.  She had 11 children.

We were in Angono by 12:15.  He invited me to his house in Graceville to drink cold water and softdrinks and water and had lunch.  I left his place at 2:00 pm.  I learned that he lives alone.  His wife and children are in   Kuwait

Our ride today May 5, 2013

Real Cyclists

Talking about the bikes at Maybancal barangay hall

I set out this morning at almost 7 am.  I had to get back by 10 to go a mall sale that promised up to 70% discounts.  I went a while to the Sacred Heart parish where i met the throng of faithfuls who just finished the  6 am mass.

Then as I was riding I saw Ben whom I caught up at Tagpos.   At Bilibiran, Pres Luis was beside us and we rode up to Cardona.  I broke the wind up to Callahan and downhill he overtook me.  I was behind by about a l00 meters until Morong.  Ben caught up with me at Morong but left him before Namay.

We had breakfast at Simples lugawan.

Before 8, I decided to go home.  But Ben joined me and we both agreed that we would go via Teresa.
However the Recyclists went too via Teresa.  We rested at the Teresa junction and had Gatorade (the P15 size).  Ben and I again went ahead and waited at China.

At China, we learned that Master broke again his spoke (he should really respoke to 36;  his bike has only 24 spokes at the rear -  the spokes break because of his weight)

Ben and I went ahead so that I could be home by 10 am.   We did.

Why is it that we would always like to see our pictures on post?  Because we believe that this a new day and we celebrate the day that we are alive and that we can bike again.  We feel good about ourselves every time we bike;  we feel good and we would like to see that in our pictures

Every ride, every picture is a celebration of life

How Hills Appear When it Rains December 4, 2011

Bikers for Health....

Early on, I have difficulty sleeping when I think of these hills.  These  is how they look like in rain. (I was not able to take other pictures because the camera stops functioning when it gets wet)

That is almost peak of Callahan, the ice plant is over there

That is the apex of Calllahan hill, here you are now overheating, slowing down, thighs stiff

The other side of Callahan, on the way back, you stand and shift to 25
