Riding the Bianchi road bike again after two months of MTB rides

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
September 11, 2016

We commemorate two events today:   99th birthday of late Ferdinand Marcos and the crashing of 4 passenger jetliners piloted by suicide pilots at NYC Trade Center, Pentagon and  Pennsylvania where 3,000 Americans perished.

Yesterday I rode solo to Pililla on my Bianchi roadie After saying little prayer at Sacred Heart Parish in Tayuman (which we usually do for to praise, thank the Lord and guide us in our biking so that we arrive home safely) I tried to chase some MTB which I did so successfully.  There was one in blue jersey who also chased me again.  The last time he did that was at Island Gas and then never saw him again.   Then I chased somebody at Callahan, but I never got past him when he overtook a long truck going down from Callahan.  I was able to pass him and another MTB who was in pink and black jersey.   He passed me at Morong market, but I retook the lead at Namay.   I was solo again up to km 55 where a large thighed rider on a roadie with back pack passed me.  I chased him and road by him side by side until km 58 which I planned as the limit of my ride.

On the way back after seeing that there was no food in Tanay Gardens, I gave chase to two riders one tall and one short and caught up with them on the way up the hill at the Baras Tanay boundary and overtook them.  They caught up with me again and chased them until past the PNP station and towed them until Maybancal where I peeled off to look for lugaw.

In Angono, I saw the group of MTB riders (group of Armin).  They said they toured from Antipolo Teresa., Morong, Cardona, Binangonan and home. They recognized me on my roadie and said hello

The heat was overbearing yesterday

Not a good day to bike today? It was raining all over the bike route

Real Cyclists

Angono, Rizal PHL   |  September 15, 2013

It rained out last night and up dawn this morning.  It was past 7 am when I woke up and I saw the rooftops of my neighbor still wet.  The roads were still wet when I set out in the direction of Pililla.  It was nearly 730 when I left and passed by Sacred Heart Parish.  I left the church by 7:45 and was in Morong by 830  and had my lugaw breakfast there and left for Pililla by 9:00.  I was in Pililla by 10 am however the skies looked ominously dark.  It rained for a while and had to sit it out in Pillilla.  I was in Binangonan by 11:00.  However, in Calumpang highway, the rain poured non stop.  I braved out to bike home around 1145.  I was all wet - sopping wet (from the rains of course)

I was in Angono by 12:20.  The rain stopped since then.  However as I am making this post, the rain is pouring again.

The daugther of Aling Simple at Maybancal said that only a handful biked today.  Because of the rains, they do not want their bikes to get wet.  Hahaha.

Recyclist bike ride today September 1, 2013

Real Cyclists

September l, 2013

Choco2 joined me in Darangan at 6:38

It is Sunday, as usual there is a regular all out bike ride today by Recyclists.  I left at 6: 10 this morning and said a little prayer at Sacred Heart Parish.  When I reached Darangan, Choco2 was there  and as I stopped to take pollution pictures but he wont.  Past the Binangonan Convention Center, Richard came;  I took some more pictures;  then we climbed Mambog. I even overtook the 2 before the summit;  but then my thighs burned, I slowed down and they were ahead of me by some l5 meters and then disappeared downhill.  Some mt bikers overtook me.

But I caught up with them at Callahan;  they slowed down going uphill.  I caught sight of Choco2 and Richard and they were merely ahead by 20 meters going up Callahan.  They sped away.

At Cardona Morong highway, I time trialled however again the Mt. Bikers were fast and good at negotiating traffic.  We arrived at Morong Maybancal by 7:15 which was pretty fast.  Choco2 and Richard went straight to Pisong Kape.  We had lugaw and buchi at Simples.   Those who were there:
Master, Joel, Nanding, Peter, Tito,;  then VM Pres Luis, and Armin arrived later.  I met Eddie Pama whom I befriended.  I met him before at 711 Col Guido and at the Bosoboso ride.

We left earlier (Eddie and I) from Maybancal.  so that we could have headstart.  The peloton caught with us at KM 52 (going up the hill to Tanay)  We however caught with the peloton at km 57.  Eddie taught me how to use the gears.  Low low gears going up but shifting to l5 or l7 as soon as you reach the summit.  Shift to 53x l5 as soon as you go downhill.

We were with the peloton when we arrived at Pisong Kape.  Then we went duo up Bugarin where we arrived at 9:10  We had buko at Km 70 with friends of Eddie from Davao City.

We biked down at  9;45 and we rested at Morong by 11: 00. There was this lady there who offered us manicure.  She said she is from Naga City and had 2 husbands who are old.  And they are not good.  She had 11 children.

We were in Angono by 12:15.  He invited me to his house in Graceville to drink cold water and softdrinks and water and had lunch.  I left his place at 2:00 pm.  I learned that he lives alone.  His wife and children are in   Kuwait

Posing in front of Pisong Kape, just after completing the punishing pace from Sacred Heart (40 minutes from Sacred Heart  - a distance of 30+ km)

Is Jess doing  striptease or dressing up?

Jorgeusbiker did not conform to the prescribed uniform  (and so with Master E)

Assembly at Sacred Heart church;  we were supposed to departt at 6:00 am!!?

Breakfast time at Pisong Kape;   we were complaining because the food servers minded the younger and more handsome riders.

It is more expensive  at Pisong Kape

Joel and VM at Pisong Kape
                                   Ben and VM

The Recyclists did biked to Jalajala yesterday.  It was a Sierra Madre ride before.  But some guys persisted to have it Jalajala (as FB conversation.)  Thus we gathered at Sacred Heart Parish before 6, attended the mass for a while, and left at 6:30.   We were in Pisong Kape by 7:10.  What kind of pacing is that?

My best time for up to KM 68 was only l: 10 minutes.  Then we biked up to Bugarin and we were there by 8:30  Then we:   Ben, Nanding and I parted ways.  We went home.  Nanding's tires got soft;  Ben was not ready and I was attending a GSB graduation and I had to be there by 2pm+

We were kidded "magsasama na kami"  -  are having a gay marriage hahaha?

Glad to see you again Insan Smith for favoring us with your presence

It is Maundy Thursday again and as part of the tradition, the Recyclist made its bike ride meaningful by doing the traditional annual "Bisikleta Iglesia"  (adaptation of Visita Iglesia)  The plan was to visit seven churches:

l.  Bugarin chapel
2.  Pililla Church
3.  Tanay Church
4.  Baras Church
5.  Morong Church
6.  Cardona Church
7.  Angono Church

Assembly was at 6:00 am at the Sacred Heart Church, Class A gulaman uniform (the latest)

Those who were in attendance:   Luis, Master E, VM, Richard, Armin, Archie,  Jayjay, Joel, Jorgeus biker, Jeff, Ben, Smith, Gerry Ktops, Weng, Angel,

Not here:   Sec Noe, Choco2, 7 days, Papa Ric,

The Binangonan church visit was skipped, instead the Angono church would be visited.

One year ago, Cataps crashed and broke the fork of his bike near LLDA;  today, he merely had a flat tire in Morong.  Nothing spectacular happenned today.  God is kind.
