From dawn till dark, our bike ride today December 1, took more than 14 hours

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal, Philippines  | December 2, 2013

Most of the Recyclists were assembled by 5:42

Our bike ride yesterday to Ternate saw us assemble at 4:30 am, and we were at home by 8:00 pm.  It was long and ardous ride, and marred by many delays:

1.  the accident of Richard at C6

2.  flat tires of Angel (1x),  Nanding (2x),  jumping chain and 8 of wheels of Edgar;  (dnf from Sucat)

3.  rains at Mt. Palay palay,

4.  misunderstanding about eating arrangement at Kaybiang  (there was no place to eat nor rice available)

Because of the delays, we were still at Daang Hari by 5:30.  It was still dark.  By 6:15, we were in corner of C Garcia in Bicutan (C6) and we did not know that there was a road rage incident.  A certain PO Potilla, shot a person dead when the latter tried to knife him.

But despite those little things it was still a long ride to remember.

Vic with Richard;  both works at Angono munisipyo.  First time for Vic to join us  DNF

Erning with pamangkin Joseph;  Joseph does not know much about Daang Hari despite his biking shorts label

Nanding joined us in the long ride for the first time;  DNF though
Assembly at Iglesia;  time was at 5:18

First flat casualty:     Angel repairing the flat at the Carry All

                                       Frequent cause of delay

                                Going up to Gen Trias

Waiting for the rain to stop at Mt Palay palay in Ternate - 30 mins delay

It was raining and it was all going up

There was no rice at Kaybiang tunnel;  back to DENR resto

Waiting for Nanding and Edgar at 13 who had flats at Naic

                                Did Master have flat also?

Another long wait just before Daang Hari

From Daang Hari (445)Bacoor to Petron took just 26 minutes - that is fast

We had to refill our tanks at this Petron station; they were empty

                                       Master gesticulating

                                     Tito

Since sunsets at 7:30, and it was all ready dark at Daang Hari (we were maybe 6 km to Alabang) we agreed to:   have those with lights and blinkers to be in front, those without would stay behind, and the team vehicle would light us.  It would be dangerous at the Alabang Zapote road, the service road, and at C6.  Thanks God, nothing more untowards happened along the way.

Waiting for the slow ones (I was not one of them) at Highway 2000 after C6

                                       Alan with his bike

                                      Jeff

                                       Finally home

                                  Were the bikes tired?
