How to be ready in case of heart attack a timely advice for seniors
Wheels of Happiness
It is a deadly condition and many do not survive the attack. So the post I saw had preparations and countermeasures:
1. Cough self resuscitation: breathe and cough
'2. Have aspirin ready to remove clots. Aspirin can take effect soon
3. Make it easy for paramedics: post your conditions near phone, write your home address and unlock door.
4. Make your home easily identifiable by rescuers to save time. There is a very narrow window to survie a heart attack
5. Ingest nitroglycerin under the tongue to vasodilate blood vessel and remove the clots.
My daugther sa said it is not the post to watch before sleeping but I did. It is reality we must face.

End the "amoy lupa for seniors"
Wheels of Happiness
After watching several videos on this topic some of the advice are:
Internal;:
1. Drink plenty of water. You need to hydrate to expel the toxins and waste products in your body;
2. Exercise and sweat for at least 30 minutes a day to expel waste products in your body.
External:
3. Take a bath daily
4. Invest in a loofah to scrub the hidden parts of your body: groin, armpits
5. Change your clothes often.
6. Change your bedsheets and comforter weekly
7. Use deodorant and body wash often.
8. Gargele brush teeth gums often
The body smell has something to do with change in the composition of skin oil which now smells rancid.

An unknown blogger, BA - TJ sent questions regarding seniors biking
Wheels of Happiness
An unknown blogger, netizen DM me 9 point questions regarding biking for seniors. Though I do not know much about him, and the qurestions were straight forward, I answered him promptly. I told him too that I was with Kara David in 400 km bike ride to Bicol
The questions center on benefits of biking, and how biking should be:
1. Biking develops posture, you dont stoop or do duck walk;
2. Better breathing
3. Long life
4. Lesser maintenance medicine
5. Being more positive, happier
6. Having stronger bones.
The theory is that brittle bones is not caused solely by lack of Vit D and Calcium but by weaker muscles. So you have to exercise if possible using weights. Lifting weights develope muscles which makes bones stronger.
7. Freedome from Sarcopenia. As we age, our muscle mass depletes. Only exercise can partially stop that or stop that.
So bike more exercise more
More power to his web site...

Riding stronger (and maybe faster)
Wheels of Happiness
This post rode up to Bugarin KM 69, and Nanay Rina last Tudesday, using 50 chain ring, and 28 cogs until KM 66, and 50 x 32 up to KM 69. That is quite hard gear
Before I used to climb Bugarin at 34 or 36 x 28, or 30t. But now as a senior, I climb up using hard gears. They say that is the best way to get stronger. And feel like young again. Stopping or getting lazy or easy will not do anything for your physique. You will get weaker, you get osteoporosis, and back pains

Must exercises for senior
Wheels of Happiness
https://youtu.be/QszUINYIg_0?si=2qBWV7T6jC5vHhTE
I have seen my brother in law, only 3 years older than me, having difficulty and even emergencies at times because of leg and thigh weaknesses. So it must be caused by lack of exercises.
So it is best to have must exercises:
1. Sit ups
2. Lunges,
3. Push ups

There are many senior riders on the road, and they do no like their age
Wheels of Happiness
Mabuhay ang seniors | February 16, 2015
Bennie V, 63 year old fmr insurance exec, now retired
On the way back from Pisong Kape as I was saddling up, two riders one in MTB and the other on a road bike, one was wearing red (the MTBiker) and the other on a Riddley carbon with aero wheels, whizzed by. I tried to give chase on the way up the Pililla hill but they got far and was able to get near at KM 58 (about 1 km away) I interviewed the MTB who said he came from Morong (nakapark pala ang sasakyan nila sa Morong) The one who was pulling the ride was Bennie, a 63 yo senior from Quezon City. He used to be an insurance executive and was embarking on a health journey. He did Sierra Madre all ready.
I tried to drop the two at San Fabian (near the Morong Baras boundary hill) by standing with my hand on the drops. And then past the Lagundi intersection. I stopped by in front of DPWH for picture taking. Bennies son, Ilo was all ready there. He is a triathlon athlete
Ilo, his son, and brother Eli
Another senior I met at Antipolo church last wee, Abe 66, he is from Pasig City

A day of meeting fellow seniors July 27, 2014
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines July 28, 2014
Yesterday I biked to Antipolo City. This is the first time in 3 weeks that I attempted to ride up Antipolo again after I had painful and swelling feet. You really appreciate the things that you enjoy and have like ability to walk, ride and be ambulatory on your own, after you experience pain and sickness. Thanks Lord I am well again.
I attended the mass when I arrived in Antipolo at about 7:15 and caught the Gospel until the end of the mass.
I met the following seniors after the mass:
Domingo Nicolas from Marikina who is 63 (same age as me) He said the Nicolas rider is a relative, and the famous Sicams are riders too. He has been riding for a long time.
Ado from San Mateo, 66. Both are mountain bikers. I met him while eating lugaw at C Lauis. THey are are of course very strong and young looking.
ON the way home, I decided to visit a barkada (hahaha) who is now 83 but has a bum and painful knee (just like Eraps case; he is bowlegged - the cartilage gave way due to incessant pounding.) He was advised against having an operation (agree). He was happy that I visited him after 6 years. He was tennis buddy and more.

Our senior friends we met at Pisong Kape
Are senior citizens just good for making "padyak" and getting a breath of fresh air, or can they still ride competitively? Can they still get faster and stronger?
The biker at the right can still stay at the pacelinex Are they grey haired or senior? Master at right
