Was advised not to join the long ride this coming month end, to Quezon

Wheels of Happiness

This post has been furiously practicing for the long ride this month end to Quezon.  The journey will take 2 days and will cover 300 km  approximately.   However, a kapadyak who recently had a heart attack and was hospitalized advised me when he met, not to go with the ride  -  considering my age and the heat wave that is now raging.  The guy and I were DNF for the same trip - 5 years ago.  I banged my head after the bike oscillated going back from the  bitukang Manok back to Lucena;   he was simply poofed up -  (lack of practice) (We had about 20 chicks which died yesterday due to extreme heat exposure).

All my efforts seem to have gone to waste?   May be not.  Because I brought back the bike up to standards.   And my health too

If you were 75, your bike has been prepped, you practiced hard, and yet the external conditions are risky, would you go ahead or quit the plan?

How to be ready in case of heart attack a timely advice for seniors

Wheels of Happiness

It is a deadly condition and many do not survive the attack.   So the post I saw had preparations and countermeasures:

1.   Cough self  resuscitation:   breathe and cough
'2.   Have aspirin ready to remove clots.  Aspirin can take effect soon
3.   Make it easy for paramedics:   post your conditions near phone,  write your home address and unlock door.
4.  Make your home easily identifiable by rescuers to save time.   There is a very narrow window to survie a heart attack
5.  Ingest nitroglycerin under the tongue to vasodilate blood vessel and remove the clots.

My daugther sa said it is not the post to watch before sleeping but I did.   It is reality we must face.

The issue about the heart attack of actor Gandofrini is his waist line

Real Cyclists

From Hollywood reporter | June 27, 2013

Actor James Gandolfini was buried after dying abroad while on vacation of heart attack.  A TV feature on the actor's death mentions that many have heart attack during a vacation for unknown reason.

But the real issue on James heart attack is not the vacation but his large waistline.   The person's health and  longevity are inversely proportional to his waist size
