Wheels of Happiness
Teaching chores and other training activities have kept me away from biking. Instead of biking to
Antipolo, I took the jeep up to Antipolo, went to church and at 8 am was at MVP Leadership center and the 2Win building. I met with several doctors and helped them with their Vision Mission creation chores. I doubt therefore whether I can join them in their Subic ride
Sorry Recyclists
A senior thinks, rides, solves problems, repairs bikes, thinks discusses about other sports. What senior should do to keep fit

I finally got the eyewear repair kit from Spyder
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal, Philippines | March 28, 2014
I finally got the repair kit for Spyder at SM Tayta yesterday and had it installed immediately.
Total cost:
1. eyeglass - P395.00
2. nosepad 99.00
3 cleaner 120.00
Total 624.00
I had to wait for one month before the order for the parts arrived. It was worth the wait because they came in perfectly. Spyder has good line of eyewear and it starts at P1,600. (but they are designed for safety) and helmets (the lowest is at P2,000)
Their carbon fiber version is a P3,400.00 (vs Bell at P9,000)

I got a flat in my ride yesterday; my spare interior was a misfit and had no glue for the repair kit
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal | March 28, 2014
I rode up to Antipolo yesterday using the Fuji bike with Cosmic aero wheels; unfortunately at CICM, I got a flat. I had spare interior with 50 mm Schrader valve. It would not protude out of the rim. I had to have the damaged interior vulcanized at a shop nearby. I paid him P20.00 but he used my dry patch. I could not repair the flat because I did not have the glue. I was up and going after 15 minutes.
I finished my climb to Antipolo.
Lesson: I must buy a spare interior with 55 mm valve; and buy repair kit with glue

I repaired the squeaking bottom bracket of my GTS bike
Wheels of Happiness
The squeakng sound of the BB of the GTS bike bothered me to no end. It is good that I have the tools to remove the BB. And when I was nd able to remove this, I found out: the BB was encrusted with dirt; the shaft had gotten out of the bearing.ace. It was loose.
I therefore cleaned the BB side, the axle, put in some fresh grease and tapped the shaft into the bearing. I tested it today. And now the squeaking sound is gone. However, there is a play and pretty soon, I will have to replace the BB

I was out of shape in my last Sunday ride March 23 2014
Wheels of Happiness
My Saturday schedule was not loaded hence I was able to bike last Sunday. I rode the GTS bike and I wore the shoes with cleats. However, the BB seemed to have clicking sound. It appeared when we went to Ternate. And I did not have the opportunity to get rid of the click.
VM and Armin caught up with me at Mambog, and then Richard. Armin and VM got rid of me at the hillclimb to Mambog. Richard and I were together. Richard went and surged ahead of me at Callahan and left me going downhill. He disappeared till Morong.
We had our usual buchi and lugaw and there saw again the other Recyclists: Jess, Gerry Y, Gerry Cataps, VM Armin, Joel. Afterwards we rode to Pisong Kfape. Up to km 50, I kept pace with w the peloton and went even with the group of choco2 who rode ahead of everybody. But going uphill, Imelted and seemed to have lost energy. And I did not see their backs up to Pisong Kape. It was very embarrassing. But that was coming to me because I did not have enough mileage.
I went up to Bugarin to gain mileage and I hope I can recover the strength and endurance
Everybody is preparing to ride to Subic. I do not quite know the details but they say it is on April 6, 2014. I do not know if I will wait at Dau or go home to ride with the group. Or are they starting from Angono

GTS aluminum bike with WCC colors
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | March 14, 2014
I redecorated my GTS bike with WCC color. It looks like a new bike. I redecorated my SARS bike. All that remains for redec is the Fuji bike. I am just thinking how to do this.

Angono, Rizal | Philippines | March 17, 2014
I was fortunate to have arrived from provincial sortie (travel to Pangasinan) early (about 11 pm). I stopped by the wake of my brother in law. I was able to rest at about half hour past 12.
Early am at about 6:30 I biked to Antipolo and was able to complete a mass. I biked towards Morong and even dropped by Holy Angels Memorial Park to make inspection.
By 11 am, I was nearing home and the Recyclists caught with me at San Carlos Hts gate 1. They came from Pisong Kape and according to VM they were doing 35 to 39 kph
In Teresa though there was one huge accident. A truck fell down a ravine and it was completely totalled

Abusive motorists we meet while biking
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | March 10 2014
When I biked to Morong last Thursday when I was all ready in Angono, I occupied the center lane to turn left to M. Diaz However, an FX DWR 211 white Crosswind honked me so and I had no choice but to fall back to the right lane.
Afterwards, I followed the FX to the terminal and confronted the driver. I am constant passenger of that FX. The bike that I brought at that time cost nearly P200,000.00 and would have paid much if we had an accident.
This is not to mention the MC who overtake from the right, or who ride without helmet. Or who run counter to the traffic

I have been behind my bike rides because of a teaching assignment. It ends on a Friday but I take advantage of the Saturday to visit businesses in the province. Sometimes, or often, the travel takes long. Twice, I arrived at two hours past midnight. That makes me unfit for any type of ride, even up to Cardona.
Sorry guys, just four more weeks. I cant turn down this assignment too which gives me a chance to leave a legacy in business management/entrepreneurship. (Please follow Prof Jorge at Ateneo)
Enjoy your rides.

We just had the Ash Wednesday rite, very soon we shall have the Bisikleta Iglesia
Wheels of Happiness
We just had the Ash Wednesday rite last Wednesday (when else) marking the start of Lenten Season. Some say it s a 40 day denial (that we lie or we sin)
Pretty soon we shall have the Bisikleta Iglesia. It is a well visited and well shared post. Thus our biking has a religious undertone. Many readers bet a glimpse of Phil religious rites and practices.

I did two rides today: one was am, and the other was a night ride March 6 2014
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | March 6, 2014
I did two rides today:
1. one was am ride to Morong Rizal at 6:20 am and back via the Diversion road ending at 8:00
2. pm run to Marikina City (to John Wilkes bike shop) at 4:00 pm after Boyeth of Haoooh regrease the hubs of the Cosmic aero wheelset, ending at 6:50.
Am ride. I started at 6:20 after passing briefly at Sacred Heart Parish. I tried to do a 50 x 15 gear on the way to Cardona and Morong. I did Callahan though at 50 x 21 doing rapid pedalling. On the way back I passed through the diversion road. However, I eased up on the gear doing it 34 x 23. Without other riders, it was quite easy. No heavy breathing.
Pm ride . From Haooh I biked through MEG and floodway. I was at Ligayas by 4:45 and at John Wilkes by 5:00 pm. John Wilkes sold to me the Exustar cleats for only P350.00 and Shimano for P650.00 and paid them by card. I paid P50.00 to the mechanic to install the Exustar cleat to my carbon fiber Scott shoes. He pitied the old cleats which was pretty beaten up. I had coffee at McDo at Marcos Hiway and biked starting at 6:00 pm via the Imelda hi way. The traffic was heavy. at junction, at Brookside and Tikling. I was home though by 6:50. I think it was strong fast ride home
