Beware of bike grab ( jacking napping) even in a church even a cathedral yard

Yesterday I biked to Antipolo using an MTB on hard gear:  44 x 17 and 19.   I went to the cathedral of the said city.  Because of the presence of security guard, I was compelled to go to the bike parking area.  There I met Romeo who is 66 and senior like me from Manggahan.  And Liz from Balara, Q. C.

I excused myself, left my bike to say a little prayer and was in time for final blessing.  As I came back the two reprimanded me for leaving my bike.

They said that many bike jackers abound in the area.  Those who look as if they are agents for vendors, barkers, etc.  just take off their pants and other  clothing,  are into bikers uniform and simply grab the bike (reminds us of grab taxi)

Someone left his bike at the right wing of the cathedral (beside the parish office) and lost his bike in matter of 3 minutes. (Bike thieves accomplish the feat in 1 minute or less)  They said that even in the lugawan, some 200 meters away, do not leave your bike.

The TV is full of CCTV clips of bike thefts, even in broad daylight.  Even chains and bike locks do not work vs their huge bolt cutters.  They  ply their trade with MC or motor vehicles.   The thieves observe and case their victims.   They go after careless people, just like me at the church yard

Dear bikers, many are aware of the steep price we pay for our cherished bike.  Beware.

Preparing for Baguio Ride

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
December 27, 2016

Vhen Apran relayed to me the information that during the Christmas party which I was not able to attend (di ko nalaman,, no one informed me.  Nasa facebook daw, I missed that post surely) that we shall have a bike ride to Baguio.  It was initiated by Engr. June Francisco daw and he volunteered to have his place in Urdaneta as a stop over point.   VM daw will provide SWAG vehicle.  That is very comforting.

Time to have increased mileage, at least 100 km  on a long weekend.  Last Saturday, I did 80 km.  This morning I did Antipolo. Mga 30 km lang yon pero ascending.

I noticed increased strength in myself all ready.  Because I was able to climb that 39 x 23 (medyo hard yon) And going back I managed the Manila East Hill up to Tower Hills at 53 x 23 without huffing and puffing  I am and bike in oneness.  Getting ready again Baguio climb.

Vhen told me last night, he would join this one .  He and I are both 65 and in the years to come, we may not be able to accomplish this.    I was able to talk to Master E today too. We three will be team mates for this ride.  We will not be at peloton but we will finish the ride

I got a flat in my ride yesterday; my spare interior was a misfit and had no glue for the repair kit

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal | March 28, 2014

I rode up to Antipolo yesterday using the Fuji bike with Cosmic aero wheels;  unfortunately at CICM, I got a flat.  I had spare interior with 50 mm Schrader valve.  It would not protude out of the rim.  I had to have the damaged interior vulcanized at a shop nearby.  I paid him P20.00 but he used my dry patch.  I could not repair the flat because I did not have the glue.  I was up and going after 15 minutes.

I finished my climb to Antipolo.

Lesson:   I must buy a spare interior with 55 mm valve;  and buy repair kit with glue

My bike ride today May 19, 2013

Real Cyclists

Rizal  PHL  May 19, 2013

I biked today to Morong via Antipolo.  I met many guys going to Morong via Cardona.

I wanted to strengthen my climbing ability and at the same time take pollution pictures.  I took many pollution pictures and arrived at Morong at almost 9 am.  There were no Recyclists in sight.

There I saw master E.  He again broke a spoke of his Shimano RS wheel at the rear.  What could be the causes?   His fall after he broke as spoke then at Teresa must have damaged other spokes, he pedals hard;  his replacement last time was not the original Shimano RS replacement part.

I and he pedalled very slowly and it was almost 11 when we reached Angono

I rode up Antipolo 2x today

Biking and health

I started late today about 6:45;  it was dark still at 6:15 to 6:30.

I rode up to Antipolo;  at Muzon I came across Master who was not in his useful uniform because he said his bike needs tuning (out of true  - 8).  And I rode alone to Antipolo.  I used 39 x 25 and at Beverly Hills 39 x 27.  I arrived at Antipolo church probably 7:45.  I met  Jose of Cainta going down for the Cainta race. He said VM was there.

True enough I met VM.  They were supposed to ride up Baguio with Luis on the 28th but they cancelled at the last minute.

After the mass, it was sort of bitin.  I rode down up to Tikling and did another climb.  I was up before 9:00.  I was at home by 9:30.  I had to go to Calamba by 11 am to condole with family of one of our staff in Calamba.  His mother died last Thursday (of complications from diabetes, I heard today).  Again it was easy ride, because I used low gear 39 x 25 or 27 at times.   Great ride
