Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal | February 27, 2014
I biked this morning after attending the 6:00 mass in Sacred Heart Parish. On the way I saw a mountain biker near Tagpos whom I chased. All the while, I thought he was behind me. I found out at Darangan, that Pres Luis was the one who was actually following me. Then at Calumpang highway, I saw Armin join us. I stopped at Montevideo because I have job. But I tried to bike hard and join their pace.
I learned that they will go as far as Bugarin. There will be long ride according to Caliraya, according to Pres Luis. I dare say that I lack mileage and endurance

How was my climb yesterday? February 23, 2014
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines | February 24, 2014
How was my ride yesterday? It was uneventful. I rode out at 6:50. I rode to Antipolo using the new Cosmic aero carbon fiber wheels. I arrived at Antipolo church at about 7:30 I caught up with the gospel. And the priest mentioned Napoles and the other love of people why such things happen.
After mass, I biked to Morong. But along the way, the front wheel hub squeaked and malfunctioned. It was as if the brakes were rubbing into the rims. It disappears after sometime, and appears whenever I hit a bump. I looked for 2T oil, and finally motor oil. When I was in Binangonan near te convention center, the squeak reappeared.
I wonder why.

New wheelset for the Fuji Bike - now a complete expensive bike
Wheels of Happiness
Bike guapo
Angono, Rizal, Philippines | February 23, 2014
The Fuji bikes now has now Cosmic aero wheelset. I bought it on credit at 1/2 of its original price. It looks guapo. However, when I tried this for Antipolo Teresa ride, it had "sometimes" When ever I ran over a bump, it would squeak. I tried to oil the hub (the front hub) it disappeared for a while, from Morong to Binangonan. But at convention hall of Binangonan, the squeaking (like the bearing was seizing) returned. I put WD 40 when I got home. Or maybe I would put some grease. I hope that disturbing noise disappear.
But the bike looks guapo and now is drawing comments, as when I was at the Antipolo church.

I did another night ride today after I acquired Cosmic aero wheelset
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines | February 20, 2014
I did night ride again tonight after I completed the swap of my Kysirium wheelset with Cosmic carbon aero wheelset. It set me back by P25t. Boyeth of Haooh did the transplant. Now the dream bike is complete: Fuji carbon, Campy group set, Conti wheels and Cosmic Carbon wheelset.
I went around floodway (from Highway 2000) to Manggahan, to Marcos Highway, then Imelda, then Ortigas, Kaytikling, Manila East Road and Home. I had to brave the rush hour traffic though. I must have averaged 30 kph. My LED flashlight helped a lot and made me a night rider.

I did two night rides: yesterday and today
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines | February 19, 2014
I rode yesterday to Callahan, Cardona at about 5 pm, I caught up with Edgar, riding up slowly near the ice plant. I tried to ride up maybe 22 to 25 kph. Darkness caught with me. There my led flashlight came in handy. I tried to use the 50 chain ring and at 15 and rode hard. This is to train my legs for hard ride. I am trying to catch up with lost time for rides. I kinda of getting heavier due to 2 weeks of non biking: first two weeks of February due to teaching assignments
Today I rode much later at 5:30. But I rode only up to Montevideo. By the time I was there it was kind of dark and the jeepneys were wild. God bless always our rides.

Galedo now third; that he is the virtual champion announcement was premature ejaculation?
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines
Lapaza
Mark Galedo of 711, and so his team dropped to third place in the 13th lap of Ronda to Morong, Bataan. Lapaza from Mindanao is now No. 1, with 12 secs margin, and Pouly No 2, 18 seconds ahead. Very slim margin. Galedo was outstrategized by the the leaders. He was left behind, and maybe the team work of the opponent was stronger, and his weaker. It is a very slim lead though that may steill be overhauled today. 7 11 need to be organized in today's crit at Marikina (Heights) to get back at #1 spot for individual and team standing. Teamwork and strategy is still the name of the game at crit.

Bike Ride today to Antipolo with the Recyclists - February 16, 2014
Wheels of Happiness
Crit Route at Marikina Hts. today for Ronda
Angono, Rizal Philippines February 16, 2014
We just finished our bike ride today.
I did not know that the Recyclists planned to bike to Antipolo, go to church and thereafter wheel to Marikina to final the final and championship lap of Ronda International 2014. We assembled at Tikling and those who were there were Joel, Jayjay, VM, Luis, Master, Gerry, Choco2. I tried to be ahead up to Palmera but they caught me at Fibertex and Choco2 VM, Jess got ahead. Master overtook me and Gerry near Alta Vista. Gerry said I was well practiced (what I did not touch bike for 2 weeks?!) Ven, Vic, and Gerry later arrived.
However we were not clear as to the time. Was it 10 am, 1 pm or 3 pm. So we just finished the mass, had breakfast at Vivienne (at C Lawis) - that is where many bike champs have lugaw or mami - Santi Barrinechea etc. Vivienne ran out of eggs and even tokwa and was confused when we arrived.
So many bikers came an unusual number, probably because of the final lap of Ronda, which is just about 10 km ride away at Marikina City.
And so we rode home - VM, Jess, Abet and Ven. But the rest did not follow us. Edgar was on his way probably riding to Marikina when he saw us and stopped. They later texted that they accompanied Secx to a store. We waited from 9:50 to 10:30 at Edwards bike shop near Taytay Memorial. When they were not around yet we decided to ride home.

Cardona Cherry Blossoms?

I took pictures of this of this bloom in January. Are these the equivalent of Cherry Blossoms in temperate countries. It looks like to me. What do you think?

Galedo two laps away from Ronda International 2014 Championship?
Wheels of Happiness
From Philstar February 15, 2014
Mark Galedo of 7 - 11 team the overall leader of LBC Ronda Pilipinas International biking competition maintained his Red Jersey standing at the finish yesterday at Clark Freeport zone in Angeles City. Thus, instead of red roses he gave his lovely wife Red Jersey instead. Today takes them to 13th stage 149.1 km with hill climbs at Morong Bataan. (Category 3 and 4 Climbs) Sunday is 89.1 km criterium at Marikina City
Galedo came in 7th in a group in the the relatively flat157 km lap from Agoo La Union 3:30: 59. He stuck to his strategy of keeping close to his opponents. He grabbed the lead from Sandy Barranechea of Phil Navy from Antipolo to Lucena at the 6th stage and never relinquished. the lead.
His total time stands at 40:21:26. A major accident can only prevent Galedo from making a peat.
His opponent Ramon Lapaza # 2 Pouly #3 had times 40:23:24; and 40:24: 54.
7 11 whose whose team manager is Bong Sual is at number 1. We know Bong Sual personally. He is from Taytay and a major supplier of 7 -11
Do you think, we who run only 30 kph join Ronda in 2015? Maybe they should have this type of Ronda in 2015 for categories like this

What are the average, top speed of LBC 2014 rider?
Wheels of Happiness
Christie, from NZ, wins a stage; the winningest Ronda rider as of today
Rizal Philippines | February 12, 2014
What is the average speed of Ronda 2014 riders? According to the stage 6 video, the peloton was doing 47 kph, the breakaway was doing 55 kph(the TDF standard?) At sprint, the may be doing more than 60 (65)
I know Recyclists do more than 40. I can only at most for short burst do 35. But not 40. The Halimaw at Recyclists can do 40+ for long distances. Maybe a couple of years more we can do Ronda speeds?
I guess the competition with foreign riders has stretched the limits of Filipino riders. Before they could hardly keep up but now we are keeping on our own. We should be thankful to LBC for giving Filipino riders giving international exposure right at our own turf.
VM reported that at the mountains near Ternate, the foreign riders were seen climbing the hills at 30+ kph. (We could hardly manage 10 kph when we rode to Ternate hills)

How does LBC Ronda Pilipinas 2014 inspire me?
Wheels of Happiness
Rizal Philippines | February 12, 2014
From Sports Inquirer
Rizal Philippines | February 12, 2014
From Sports Inquirer
How
does the Ronda LBC bike tournament inspire me? As I see the riders in
the peloton I could visualize me riding with them. Right here in the
Philippines. I might ride 1/2 their top speed, but I could feel with
them the adrenaline rush, the bumps, the crotch and butt pain and itch,
the wind and grit blowing in your face, sweat pouring down your temples
and back - on two wheels, and at any time you may crash due to some dog
crossing or a fan getting into your way.
God bless Ronda Pilipinas riders. God bless the quest for good health and long life.

Secx went to our office to check me out
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal Philippines | February 12, 2014
Secx Noe was in our office at about 9:30 this morning. I was wondering why. He said Master E texted him to check me out because I have not been with the group for the last 2 weeks. Well I said, I had permission from Luis and I informed him I had teaching chores at Iloilo.
That is good to know he said. I might be sick or whatever?
Thank you guys for checking out. Thanks for your caring

World Cycling Championship (WCC) colors on my helmet
Wheels of Happiness
Angono, Rizal, Philippines | February 3, 2014
For several nights last week, I worked very hard on putting the UCC World Cycling Championship colors on my 3 helmets. It is tedious and detailed job, a lot of trial and error. I bought P120 worth of reflectorized stickers, about 20 hours of work for this miniscule output. I am happy though.
The colors gave new life, interest on my otherwise soiled, and old helmets.
Am I boasting?
