From cheapcures

The temperature could reach a searing 37 degrees Centigrade as it was last Saturday in Cabanatuan;  that temperature could be dangerous to the elderly or those who are not fit.  Such heat could be fatal.

So let us bike early, bike during the coolest part of the day.  Avoid hot conditions;  Avoid heatstroke

Exposure to sunshine fights infection

Real Cyclists

From cheapcures | March 15, 2013

There is another added benefit to cycling  - fighting soft tissue infections without use of antibiotics.  Did we not notice that we do not get skin and other soft tissue infections (except when we use damp shorts or dirty jerseys, socks).  Very few of us have fungal infections (or ringworms) or have PTB.

Exercise and the sunshine give us more endorphins for better mood.

We owe it to UVB from solar rays during our bike rides!

We have to be careful though of exposure to the sun when it is too hot:   wear arm warmers and have sun block especially this summer.  Bike during cool time of the day -  early morning or  afternoon.

Strength Training can make you look younger

It is not enough that we do aerobic or cardio exercises;  we must do strength training ie hard interval training to get the most of our exercise.  It can make us look 10 years younger.

Joel Javier often tells me that:   push hard;  stay close with the leaders, try harder when you are about to end the hill climb;  put it on at the last 100 meters when you and others have run out of strength.

Then you can become an Olympian:   citius altius fortius : faster, higher, stronger

20 Health Tips on Food as Medicine

Biking and health

Nutrition as related to sports is a very important topic, especially in biking. At over hour into a bike ride, the body starts getting into negative reserve energy level and thus must be replenished.  Taking in Vitamins and minerals can not help in rides. You have to eat.  Otherwise you bonk.

Thus the carinderia, the lugawan make good money on us especially those who on long rides.

There is another important topic:  food and health, and food as medicine.

Vegetables to Eat to Remove Body Fats

Bike and Save the Earth

Earlier I posted that we must watch our pot bellies.  Big bellies are not healthy and may be the cause of puffing and huffing for some of our colleagues especially when climbing hills.  A lighter body weight, less leaner tummy is equivalent ot buying a PHP l00t carbon fiber frame (which can be l to pounds lighter than your aluminum frame) but you reduce 20 to 50 lbs from your body weight.

You can use the video for he ab exercises we have posted and take belly fat reducing vegetables.

We All Drink Sodas During a Ride, but isnt it Risky Now?.

Bike and Save the Earth

When we ride, and congregate at Manang Simples Lugawan, or Pisong Kape, or Manay's Eatery, we all order our favorite softdrink.  Cola or ....Dew.   However the recent news feed should make us more cautious:

Recent newsfeed tell us the risks:

l.  Make us overweight;

2.  Increases the risk of heart attack;

3.  If it contains aspartame, the risk of cancer also comes in.

4.  Ordinary softdrink contains phosphoric acid  which increases body acidity.  High acidity in the body is conducive to cancer and osteoporosis.

Having considered this risk, will you continue taking softdrinks.  Water will be better? Or buko juice (BJ?)
