We had a practice ride to tune up for Baguio ride. Some 14 souls answered the invitation: Nolite, (whom we looked for in Mabitac - he was missing) Alan, Weng, Angel Balubar (brothers) MinZap (Armin Zapanta - who said walang kakuwenta2 ginagagawa ng MTB) Luis Genavia, Master E, Meong, Vhen, Ambet Mateo, Tito Fabay. Gerry K, Jess Verchez, and myself
Two did not join the ride: VM Jun Vic and Joel. 7 days they said joined but he elected to ride up Bugarin first and we did not see each other. (Master E nearly committed the same mistake)
Unfortunately for me and Alan, we collided somewhere in Jalajala where there were road construction. We crashed and Alan was all over/on top of me. I got multiple rashes and wounds and they are painful. We ate Lomi in Mabitac and during that time we were looking for Nolite (he turned out to have passed at the short cut from Jalajala to Mabitac. The peloton caught up with him at Km 69.
The ride is about 130 km long and a good tune up. We finished about 3:00 plus.
I had to go home on a limp mode.

I intended to bike up to Mabitac today to ramp up my mileage. I biked early this week to Antipolo, to Km 55 in Tanay.
I left at 7:00 am and saw some MTB on the way, and then a fixie in Darangan. He was from Rosario and said was going to bike up to Mambog. We were side by side and even was ahead of him until some 100 meters to Mambog summit. He left we panting.
Then on to Cardona, then some Taytay boys and the fixie from Mambog overtook me in Cardona. I proceeded up to Baras, to Tanay and then Pililla. On the way, a pair one with TT overtook me, but I pursued them and they did not get far away. A group came rushing by in the last bend at the Biak na Bato until Hacienda Pisong Kape. I arrived 8:10 and ate my lugaw with egg there until 8:30. I saw the other Recyclists pass by and Abet came back. He said the others were going up Bugarin.
By 8:30 I biked up to OL and there I saw Jess, Edgar, Joel, Tito, Master E, Richard, and Allan A and they ate buko. I ate my buko too (now steady at P20.00 each) It was nine when I reached OL. So I said I would still bike to Bugarin which I did. I stopped some l km to the flats, peed and turned back.
On the way down, I met some pamangkin: Bogie Mosqueda (cousin of Jorge Calingo, the bike shop owner in Pag asa) and his brother and some bikers wearing 7 11 uniform. We rode together until Pililla town hall. I rested having come from Mabitac. I rode home alone but it was too hot all ready. I was home at exactly 12 and would have travelled 100 km 40 of which was hill climbing.

I biked more than 62 km one way today! (73 actually) on my 62nd birthday

Today I fulfillled my promise to myself that I will bike 62 km one way to celebrate my 62nd birthday.
I left at 6:30 and passed by Sacred Heart Church (as most birthday celebrators are wont to do) Was in Maybancal Morong by 730, in Halayhayin by 8:15, at Bugarin by 8:46, in Mabitac by 9:15. I was in Kalayaan by 9:46.
The distance estimate from Angono to Paete was 73. I was in Kalayaan (+ 3 km), I failed to get my correct distance and hence I over rode the target. I could have ridden up to Tarlac or round Laguna or even Tagaytay.
Riding back, I was in Pangil by l0:46 where I had my snack, 12:30 at Mabitac, l:00 at Pisong Kape, 2:00 at Morong and 3 pm at Angono.
Well I kept my promise to myself to do what I planned to do.
Come Sunday for the June celeb bash, I would not suffer anymore because it the second time around

June birthday celebration
Biking and health
The June celebrants will join hands to bring joy to Recyclists tomorrow as we ride in a resort in Mabitac Laguna. It is bring your own viands or drink for the event.
We may swim or enjoy the hot springs.

Our June l9, 2011 ride story
THE RIDE
I thought that the ride would not push through because it was raining hard at 4:30. I texted Luis and said "tuloy" (go!). Lo and behold when I went to the starting point, almost everybody was there. So after loading the things in the van. off we went and since it was still raining, everybody was wearing either a rain gear or raing coat.
l. First stop, as scheduled was the Sacred Heart in Tayuman. of course to pray and ask for blessing. Thereafter, there was no more rain.
2. Second stop was at Pisong Kape where we had breakfast, mostly lugaw with egg.. Litttle rest, some picture taking and then Bugarin Climb. The next stop was supposed to be Paete, but we stopped next at
3. Mabitac rest house right after descending Bugarin. Then ride to up to Paete.
4. At Paete, we had some snacks, of eggs, banana and softdrinks. Some picture taking.
5. Then climb Malaya, to Lumban, Pagsanjan, and up to Pila. I chased the paceline and even led for a while.
6. Another stop at Pila, ate buko. They were large bukos and cost us Pl6.00 each. The poor woman owner did not know how to skin the buko??? Her bolo was dull and it took her sometime to serve all of us.
7. Then a group stopped at Victoria to pose with the giant ducks (counterpart of the giant carabao in Angono)?
8. It rained hard at Calauan. I took my time taking pictures, because we knew we were near.
AT THE PANSOL LOS BANOS BATHHOUSE
First thing we did was to find places to park our bikes, and remove wet clothes and shoes and wear dry ones.
Then eating time. It was boodle fight, rice and viand on banana leaves: eggplants, fish, and sinigang. with very spicy sauce and plenty of cold cold water and soft drinks. When we were full, rested for a while and then
Dip into the hotbath (no longer the spring water but distributed by waterworks. But it did not matter) While at the pool, we remembered Ado the Alakpa alakman. So to remember him by, GSM and a case of San Mig Lights were bought to be drank.
And then kuwentuhan and karaoke. Most active, were Gerry (Cataps) and Richard.
And then the kuwento of the 7 days. He he he he
At 5 as scheduled, we rode the 3 vans and road home. Thanks to the birthday celebrants and VM staff.
