Frequent riders Jimmy and Supremo

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
June 3, 2017

                                                       Supremo Armin Zapanta

I try to ride at least 3x a week.   That will keep my Basal Metabolic Rate at little bit higher and let me burn fat while resting (but it gives me BO when the perspiration invites germs to grow.  Thus I biked Tuesday, Wednesday and today.  I will bike again tomorrow
.
On those occasions, I saw Jimmy twice and Supremo Armin once.  But he climbed SCH twice  He descended and climbed again and met him again as I was descending.

For the last two rides, I made two hill climbs (and they were not easy)   SCH antenna and SCH.  I went up SCH via gate two on a 32 x 36 gear.  I did poorly at Eastridge.  I had to dismount 2 x doing granny gears.  The bikers from Taguig admired that I was able to ascend the final 100 meters up to the guard house without stopping.  They stopped and rest and had to do cross stitch while climbing

Missing my Road Bike - lighter and faster than MTB

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
September 4, 2016

I had long lasting fatigue until Friday ever since I did a long ride to Majayjay on a MTB.  May be because of the weight of the bike (although it is a carbon fiber) the wind resistance or the road friction, I had to exert more effort and energy.

Yesterday I rode up Eastridge using my Ti MTB.  Now I no longer fear nor hesitate climbing up Eastridge.  Kayang kaya ng MTB.

But for today;s weekend ride, Sunday, I brought out the Binachi road bike.   The difference in the ease of riding was very much felt.  I had not ridden a road bike for about a month.  The tires of the Fuji carbon fiber were flat.

I passed about 3 dozens MTB and they were riding 29 ers and were not slow.  But in the end I was ahead of everybody on the way to Morong.   On the way back, I passed at diversion (kaya din ng road bike) and the MTB whom I passed (from Taguig - Ridley club) were still there. That is what you call the road bike advantage

Climbing Eastridge with 32 x 32 up to 36t cogs

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
July 2 2016

Today our office PE was at Eastridge.  The ladies walked and I biked.   Before, I could not climb even up to Unamonte.  I feared that the bike would willy or that I did not have enough gear and stamina to make it at least to the gate of Unamonte.

Well today I did.  I stopped inside the Unamonte subdivision, and then rode again just before the gate.  After the gate I rode up to the main gate using 32 x 36.  I did not have to shift down to the granny. (All other riders were using granny gears  24 x 32 or 34)  The 32  36t was more than enough.

At the top I met 3 Taytay MTB.riders.  They left behind somebody who had 1 x 10.   32 front and 32 biggest at the back.  I suggested that he go back to the triplet or have 42 t at the back if he wants still to retain the 1 x 10 set.  up.  That is why I avoided the 29;  not very efficient in climbing

I am happy with this ride.  This has proven that at 65 I am still strong, and I had levelled up my MTB skills and strength

I was able to finally conquer the Eastridge finally

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
April 30, 2016

I have been biking for almost 8 years now and still I was unable to climb Eastridge especially between the first elbow until the 2nd gate of Unamonte.  Today I was finally able to conquer the climb.  I was fearful that the bike would willy, and unable to resume the climb in case of a stop.  I had to use the granny gear (most of those who climb do)  I used 24 x 30.

I saw Choco2 extreme practice of attacking hills at #Eastridge

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal  Philippines  October 4, 2014

This morning our office staff and I had PE at Eastridge.  Lo and behold, there were two very young roadies who climbed near the guardhouse of Eastridge riding road bike with gears of 39 x25.  One of them was Choco2.  Wow.

They even proceeded to Thunderbird.  I could only reach Unamonte.

Keep this up Choco2

We met MTB riders at Eastridge in our company PE

Real Cyclists

Eastridge, Angono, Rizal   May 5, 2013

                                      Alan almost at the top

We met several MTB riders from Pasig on the way up to Eastridge yesterday, May 4, 2013.  It is part of our corporate practice on Saturday to stay healthy and strong.   The group whom we saw climbed the hill 2x.

They were all on granny gear:    24  x34 and doing crossstich.  I have not climbed Eastridge yet on roadbike.  A was not even able to approach Unamonte.
