The Loboc river cruise cum dining resumed today, 9 days after the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that resulted in 195 deaths hundreds of thousands displaced, affecting millions of people in Cebu and Bohol.  The resumption is important to the economy of Loboc. This is according to Mayor Ellen Alaba.  The tourism industry employs some 300 people.  There are 21 floating restaurants, each capable of serving 45 guests.  The average arrivals of tourists are Loboc was 1000 daily.

The Loboc church was destroyed as well as some buildings.

The tarsier conservatory also reopened.  The Loboc river cruise was stopped because the reception area underwent inspection and and repairs.

Loboc is a tourist destination that comes before the Chocolate Hills. The other tourist spot did not stop operations according to Tourism Director for Central Visayas Rowena Montecillo.

The Panglao resort operations have been normal, although there were cancellations immediately after the earthquake.  The Alona Beach Resort Community head David Baillie said that with the low tourist arrivals, he encourages local tourists to come to Bohol again as 65% of the tourist arrivals are local

The reopening of the Loboc river cruise and the other news speak well of the resiliency, the courage, and the leadership at Bohol.  We pray that the tourism industry recovers soon as this is the bread and butter of Bohol now.  Agriculture and fishing did not contribute much to the economy of Bohol

Of all the tourist attraction in Bohol, the Loboc river cruise is the one I like best.  There is music, good food, good company, and great crowd. Those who thought about this from the LGU and DOT are geniuses if not great innovators
