Is it time to quit or time to improve further as a long distance rider; dapat susunod Trans Phil ride

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
February 13, 2017

As I scaled the City of Pines last Saturday February 11 (our Lady Lourdes celebration), I reflected on the fact that I was last of the tropa always, but I never struggled.  For the Urdaneta stretch, I lingered on to the back to support a beleaguered colleague who had cramps.   That was from Tarlac down to Paniqui, but he eventually left me.  The too much spinning made my muscle sore.

From Urdaneta up to Binalonan, I was up front with the group but was left behind too could not mach their 35 to 40 kph speed.  I promised myself 20 to 25 kph only.  I will finish the route in due time fresh and not feeling too exhausted.

I was wondering too whether this affected me:

1.  Using two bikes.  Road bike up to Rosario La Union, and MTB up to Baguio City

2. I practiced most of the time using MTB albeit hard tempo and using hard gears.  At the ride, I preferred to ride conservatively, easy gears and easy riding.  Just ot finish

3.  Being away out of town, pigging out on food at Dumaguete and the tours there.

4.  Or whether age has caught up with me.

Vhen Apran and I tried this ride at the young age of 65, and said it could be our last joining Recyclists for the epic activity.   The route seems longer, the climb harder and the colleague seem to be faster.

There are two choices: to quit take it easy, or continue cycling.   And try to find out where I went wrong,  What else can I improve?

Congratulations and thanks to our Recyclists bikers who joined us in long rides this year

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal, Philippines  |  December 2, 2013

We thank Pres Luis Genavia, and the material support and guidance of fmr Vice Mayor Jun Vic during the entire year of 2013, who saw to that we Recyclists were challenged, and we did our best to improve our endurance, strength,  and speed.  During the year we were simply awesome.

Running at 40 kph from Morong to Pisong Kape, every week end was awesome.  And so with our long distance ride that were soooooo looooong.   Baguio ride from Manila,  the Lemery ride, and yesterday, the Ternate ride.   These rides attest to the accomplishment and achievement of our Recylists riders.

May this site suggest that by the end of the year, the riders be given certificates of achievement for the rides that they have undergone.

This way, these small certificates, signed and sealed by our President and VM Jun Vic

Recyclists 2010 Real Ride, April 8 to 9, 2012

Bike and Save the Earth

At 6:34, we said our prayers for safety, to keep us safe from harm, note the time

I was hesitant to join this bike ride for Real Quezon:   it is scheduled on Easter Sunday and will not be able to complete my religious obligation.  April 9, the following day is the 61st birthday and the celeb would be in a 5 star hotel and the payments have been made.  Anymay I made my plans that I would ride in the afternoon (no overnight again) or leave early at 5 am to make it to the l0 am departure for the hotel or ride the bus until Morong.

Who were there:

23 guys answered the starting gun:  VM, Luis, Tito, Ben, Jorgeusbiker, Gerry, Allan, Angel, Netoy, Jemrex, Jeffrey, Jayjay, Zapanta bros:   Armin and Archie, Tito, June F, Edgar, Papa Ric (they met us at Morong), Peter A, Smith (up to Famy only) Nolite, Master, Nanding,, Joel and Richard.

Nolite, Gerry (ang nangaliwa!? Allan, Netoy

Smith knows it wrong Who Does not Join (sounds Judas) so he caught up at Pisong Cafe

The odd man is Jeffrey, friend of Ben, a strong biker

Nanding would rather drive the team vehicle

Groupings were formed  so as not to get lost

The Recyclists were divided into 4 groups, l to 4 and team leaders were myself for group l (we were the host).  The purpose of the groupings were:   to support team members especially if there were safety or repair issues, so that the riders would be motivated:   if they have the same skill level, and to prevent members from getting lost (as was the case in Tagaytay ride where people) went to Laguna instead of going to Cavite.

The briefing was done at Pisong Kape,  unfortunately, some people did not listen?  Result?  We had a casualty, Netoy got lost.

First pit stop was at Pisong Kape

No egg hunting, quick breakfast at Pisong Kape

Groups taking off, we were the sweeper

Netoy was a casualty,  he got lost, the group system failed !

Pit stops:

Total distance of the ride as per Google maps was 98.2 km (up to town proper but 92 up to Baywatch)  Pit stops were at Pisong Kape, (pt 30 km) Famy (30 km) and Llavac.( thats 32 km but all going uphill) Up to Famy means going up Bugarin.

                                      At Pisong Cafe in Pililla

At 7-ll, just completed in Famy

Ben, Master, Gerry, Allan, Richard, Joel, Smith and Jemrex Mariposa

                             Tito, Boy, and Vm

Almost near Llavac;  Ben and Jorgeus biker took shelter;  it rained hard

Ben worrying about his clit, it kept getting loose; the solution was a screw!

The team vehicle stopped because of heavy rains

The rains just stopped suddenly, as quickly as it started

                                           Papa Ric remounting his bike

Papa Ric and Mang Boy slugging it out, Papa Ric also rode in the service vehicle

Many Bike Addicts Rode Today, December 4, 2011 Despite the Rain

Bikers are jorgeus and have more fun....

It was dark when I left at 630 am.  When I reached Tayuman, Binangonan Rizal, it started to have a light drizzle.  When I reached Cardona some areas were dry.  But by the time I was in Morong, it was raining.  But despite that many bike riders souls braved the rain.  As a matter of fact, on the way back at about 830 am. we met a pack of about 50 complete with Team Vehicle, wearing black, white and blue jersey in Binangonan, Rizal.  Because it was raining hard by that time, we shouted, " Addict".  Hehehe.  as if were not addicts....

Here are some pictures of today's ride, December 4, 2011:

Men in Red;  the Red Riders:  Amigo, Joel, Tito, Luis, and Armin

Out of courtesy, they allowed a blue man:  Jorgeusbiker; wet roads at the background

                                  Dapat WaCKy shot yon.!??

                                      Red Riders Beautiful backs

They did not sleep well last night, this is time to sleep

Rain, rain everywhere!

Roads are wet and slippery, dangerous; do you see the white horse sculpture with large dick?

                                             Dangerous curves

I had to take shelter near Grandspan, was all wet and glasses clouded

                                           My GTS bike shivering?
