Did not bike today, cleaned and fixed the MTB

Wheels of Happiness

This post biked to Hillsdale, Villa Angelina yesterday, with several tought hill climbs:    5 at least with some maybe at 15%...  Quite a view of the metropolis and Laguna lake.  Today I did not ride.  But fixed the MTB whose shifting has become hard.

So I loosened the cables of the fd and rd.  And found out that the inners all ready were leaking out rusty fluid .  I flushed out the rust with oil,  slid the outers in and out to scratch out rust that may be forming.   Oiled the cables and did the same process 2x.  Then got tissue paper to rub out some of the rusty fluid.  Then I greased the cables and put some more oil.   The shifting became easier.  (I should have replaced the cable but could not find Shimano now in stock)

Getting the back the proper tuning was the next problem.   I could not get the rd shift to the biggest cogs.   It was the problem with the barrel adjuster at the shifter that was the problem I did not screw it back in so
that I could tighten the cable by turning it ccwise.    For the FD, I was not able to get back the cable to the correct stopper thats why the cable at the fd was too long.  I got them back finally.   Then adjusted the brakes which all of suddent were rubbing the disk.

Nice job for me.

Thats a P100.00 saved and a lot of learning
