Biked to Wawa Eco park this morning

Wheels of Happiness

This post biked to Wawa Ecopark this morning.  I observed that the the lake has overflowed to the road works of the eco park.  There was lot of water lily intrusion.  A number, including a cyclist were angling for fisth.  There was one MTB rider and I took his picture and posted the same at social media.

The water concessionaires must be smiling because they have plenty of water.   God has blessed them (Maynilad and Manila water) with bountiful water supply -   free.

Still unable to ride because of incessant rains

Wheels of Happiness

Rode only to buy lugaw and buko  from Wawa eco park.   Used the Mtb to ride.

Noted the lake water level to be high only about 7 inches from the edge of the lake embankment.  Soon there will be flooding from the lake.

It was good to note that the river banks did not overflow thanks to the year round river dredging project by the LGU

What the typhoon has wrought to Wawa Ecopark in Angono

Wheels of Happiness

At Wawa ecopark, a popular bikers destination has been affected by the deluge brought about by Carina:
1.   Water lily, blown by the typhoon wind has gathered at the lakefront;
2.  Water level is up and the distance to the edge of the road is only roughly a foot.   Wait till all the floodwaters from the mountain and rivers have flowed down to the lake.  The lake could overflow by tomorrow or Saturday.

Bike caravan from Angono to Cardona and back to Angono

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
November 13, 2016

En route to finish line at Wawa

The main street of Angono in front of the municipal hall was blocked this morning.  Reason, about hundreds or thousand riders of all types, roadies and MTB were waiting for the starting gun for a fun caravan ride that would cover Angono, Binangonan Cardona, that would cover 26 km. Entry fee is P350  (there must be a thousand participants) They wore green and white jersey (green is fluorescent)

I joined the caravan on the way back from  Binangonan to Angono.  I overtook it though at Tagpos

The pace is slow but there is a lot of jockeying to be at front of peloton from every body.  PUSO MC riders led the group and there were 2 ambulances that supported the ride.

                                                Near Island Gas at Calumpang

There must be a thousand of them

Wawa in Angono is now becoming a bikers destination

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
September 12, 2016

I noticed that many MTB riders are now going to Wawa for stop over, stand by and food.  About 3 dozen or so bikers from Binangonan and Cainta were in Wawa this morning.

This is good for Angono especially for the food vendors at Wawa.  It means more income and livelihood. I asked why bikers drop by here.  They said this is part of the package when going to Petroglyphs.  Some bikers say Wawa is a great destination too.

My high end MTB drew admiration at Wawa Park

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines
February 28, 2016

Today we have a scheduled ride to Tagaytay.  I ride with Gerry and others. Take off is at 6:00 at Iglesia and that is 20 minutes form now. I will blog for a while.

Yesterday afternoon, I whiled my afternoon on my MTB high end (may I call it XT) and went to Wawa.  There the other MTBs, riders gathered around the xt MTB and asked a lot of questions -  how much what are the parts, how much does the gold chain cost etc.  One rider, who is a DH (downhill) had his eyes glued on the bike.   He went near the bike, touched it, lifted it and rode it.  I was afraid he would ride home with it.   He admired how light and how handsome it was.

Well I made the right choice.  Thanks Matt.

Having fun with Ben this morning, December 20 2013

Wheels of Happiness

Angono, Rizal Philippines | December 20 2013

Ben, the two of us rode this morning to Wawa

I met Pres Luis and Ben at the park this morning.  Pres Luis said it was his first time to visit the park and he discussed the Luisiana ride on Christmas day.  I declined to join so he did too because it the birthday of the Lord. I said I crashed on a Christmas day ride.  So nadala na ako.

Then I saw Ben as I was leaving to get camera.  I had a chance to take his picture.  We talked about his cure from prostate and my advice.  So he calls me by my aka:  Sir Dok (leng)  I am happy that he got well from my advice on prostate.

Condolences to the family of Recyclist Rommel (Smith) Unidad

Real Cyclists

Angono, Rizal  PHL

I got a confirmation this morning that Mr. Sabas Unidad, elder brother of Rommel, passed away yesterday at about noon time at PGH.  He had a brain operation at midnight of Monday to remove the blood clot from a bleeding.  He collapsed and vomited after walking 6x at their street.  He might be succumbed to a heat stroke.

There were news that he got better after the operations, as Smith told me in our conversation last Tuesday morning at Wawa.   Yesterday at 6 am there were news that he died after a false news last Wednesday.

Sabas, a cousin (their father is the brother of my mother;  both my mother and their father are deceased) was 55.  Their sister in Australia had come home.

Prayers and condolences to the family of Rommel.

Let us avoid extreme heat this summer

Richard told me about Recyclists Ride yesterday with Department of Tourism

Real Cyclists

Wawa, Angono, Rizal   PHL  |  March 18, 2012

I biked to Wawa Lakeside Park tonight  and somebody called out my name in the dark - and it was Richard who too were relaxing at Wawa.  There was a pleasant breeze blowing westward (clearing the pollution) and there were no mosquitoes.

He told me about the ride yesterday which I missed.  Had I known the route (I would have caught up with them)

They left at 5:30 and went to MEG (the Taytay Municipal Hall) to meet Joel.  From there they went to Manggahan church, then to Eastwood/Honda, C6 to UP and where they waited for the DOT Director.  They left at 8:00 am (I would have caught up with them from the Antipolo Church).  Then they turned left to IPI, Dr. Sixto Antonio Ave, to Rizal High School,  then Pateros, Taguig, and then to Bilibid prison in Muntinlupa City. They covered the 67 km in 2 hours;  despite the traffic.  They had lunch in Muntinlupa carinderia and then proceeded to Fort Bonifacio.  There they had difficulty in going inside for lack of proper direction and clearance.  They were home by 2:30.

There were 15 riders in all and included Pangskie Gil (who did his first century in km), Ado Gonzaga and Secx.  Secx was up to Eastwood only and went home due to stomach disorder.  The total distance covered was 120 km.  Richard observed that it was the trail blazing run because some of the turns were not sure and proper coordination was not made.  The support vehicle was sent home and then there were problems about hydratiion and water.

DOT shouldered the lunch and promised to provide uniforms on April 9.  According to Richard, there will be meetings to iron out kinks and clarify details.
