Have a very sacred Good Friday

The Scriptures command us to be the Light and the Salt of the  Earth.  To light the darkness.  In this case to further enlighten many of our brethren on OEM bike frames and to lessen their doubt and fear of Carbon frames from China and Taiwan.

The frames and wheelsets are tested. The supplier has state of the art manufacturing facilities:  molds vacuum facilities for carbon fiber production.  They are unlike magbobote or taho vendors Chinese of yore.  It is time we appreciate the progress the Chinese has made in terms of technology, not to mention military, finance and political might and world leadership.


It is hoped that our education on OEM carbon frames and wheelsets has gone up a bit, so that we can
enjoy our bikes at more affordable cost,  and not just to join the trending and mindsets of rich and uneducated few. Also as days pass by, the rest of bikedom will have less nasty comments that reflect their lack of  understanding of modern reality

This post understands that many would like to acquire superbikes at a much lower price.  I am not a defender of the Chinese. I am pro riders and bikers who want to have more in bikes, at much lower price. Big bang for their bucks (Pesoses)

This post did a number of posts on his OEM bike project;  and pictures of his finished project. I brought this in our Bisikleta Iglesia today. With the  number of people touching the bike, making suggestions, or joking about riding the bike by mistake, and openly saying that the bike is nice and beautiful I could judge that a number are really aspiring to get one.   An OEM bike.  No less than 5 may be out of 20 who biked today would, if given the chance get one.

Same thing about the readers at the net and social media. I got inquiries about: supplier of the OEM bike frame, how much is the budget, where did I get the  Direct Mount brakes, I would  say about 2 dozens are ready to start an OEM carbon fiber bike project.  For 1/5th the cost, you could  have a super bike lightweight shod in high end group and wheel set.

 An orig legit sourced (mas mahal tubo ng reseller)  would set you back by P400,000.00.   4x ang mahal and most of them goes to the profit of the trader.

Why prevent those who are PHP challenged to enjoy super bikes at limited budget. Yong mayayaman ayaw ata.  Privileged sila ... kaya nilalait OEM at replica.   I tell you they perform just the same.  I have an orig carbon frame/bike and this OEM. Mas magaan at mas pleasant iride ang OEM...Mas guwapo at mas Oh ahh

The Bisikleta Iglesai ride could not be complete without breaking bread together. After all, it was the time
that the  Lord started the Eucharist, ie breaking the bread to be done in His Memory. So we all chipped in
100 each to have a lunch of GG,sinigang na bangus, fried talong, steamed Okra and lot of price.

Thanks Jess. And then when everybody was full, and had  rested, we discussed the forthcoming ride to Marinduque next week end.

There was a great /big improvement in the Bisikleta Iglesia we held today:  we had a printed prayer missallete,  two stations of the cross were taken up in each of the 7 churches:  1 and 2 at Magdalena, 3 and 4 at Tanay, 5 and 6 at Baras and so on.   Several kapadyaks were asked to read and lead the group in prayers, something not done before:  to cite some of them:  Richard, Luis, Alan, Gerry JB, and the  last but not the least for the 13 and 14 station done by  VM. at Angono Rizal

This made the occasion/event more solemn and more meaningful as we prayed and reflected on the death
and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. (There is no need to join the early dawn Penitential Procession)   I think  this  event captured the Holiness and  spirit of this Holy Week

Thank you VM for this innovation and great idea, change in our Bisikleta Iglesia

After the lunch at the place of Jess Verchez (thanks Jess), after the Bisikleta Iglesia, the proposed ride by the Recyclists was taken up. The meeting was co chaired by Sec Noe and VM Jun Vic

Some proposals/plan

        Depart 5 am for Lucena City to catch 10:30 boat trip to Marinduque  Bikes are unloaded to be
        bring to the boat as a freight (We pay 50%)

       Board Boat at Lucena for Marinduque   10:30 to 11:00

       Arrive Mogpog say 3 pm

       Bike to to place of sec Noe -  Gasan (refer to Google Map say 30 km 1:30  arrive 5 pm

       Gala,  enjoy the view

      Dinner

   2.   April 8

       Breakfast

       Depart for bike ride, say 90 km, 3 pit stops

       Bike over in 4 to 5 hours

       Lunch

      Board boat at Mogpog say 3 pm (we do not bike back to Sec Noes place Gasan)

      Arrive Lucena City say 6 pm

      Dinner sleep at Lucena City

   3. April 9

     Breakfast

     Depart say 6 am  for Angono Rizal

           1. Old route:  Lucena, Tayabas Lucban, Luisiana Cavinti Pagsanjan, Mabitac Pililla   138 km

          2.  Alternative 1:   Lucena to San Pablo, via Magdalena and Victoria, Bay, Los Banos,
                                      Calamba, Sta Rosa, San Pedro, Muntinglupa C6             148 km

2. Who:   About 20 are joining  except:  Nolite, Netoy, Richard

Maundy Thursday

What did I do last night to observe Holy Wednesday?  Aside from watching the procession of images, I accepted the invitation of Mr. Joven Apran, a kapadyak to read the Passion of Jesus Christ  (Mahal na Passion)

There were several readers all ready.  After taking lugaw and fried tokwa, I started reading at 6 pm from page 72.   Holy Tuesday.   I stopped reading at page 82, at Maundy Thursday, after the aral.  It took me sometimes to get used  to the chant. Every other stanza has different rhythm.  Every second stanza on the third line you  lengthen the tone on the last word.  So probably at page 75, I used  the microphone and with all might  might tried to keep pace with other readers.   I reached the portion that  the Lord was arrested and brought before the religious leaders

I could have read more but there is Bisikleta Iglesia the following day and it starts at 5:30

I was happy with what I did.  Ikaw, nakapagbasa ka na ba ng Mahal na Pasion

From AWST OEM bike framesets  (Bianchi Oltre at $600.00)

I fellow kapadyak who got interested in my affordable carbon fiber bike build,  wants too to  bike frame, and aside from that to get more details in the affordable carbon fiber bike frames from Taiwan.  He said he has a friend, a trader/importer from Taiwan who interested him in the business.

That would be fine because we could get reasonably priced frames without risks because he is from the place.  The current supplier charges P39k vs P32k from Cebu.  Medyo mataas yong supplier sa Rizal.  Sa Cebu nakakaniyerbiyos kasi paminsan minsan sumasagot sa phone...

  Many bikers are aspirational.  They want dream bikes but can not afford the legit or orig.  But I can assure the doubting Thomases with my experience that what I got is a real McCoy.

OEM meaning from Inc encyclopedia

Original Equipment Manufacturer.   The supplier of my bike frame supplies the original frame to the marketer...Same specs, same measurement.  I could swear that my bike frame has the vibration absorbing capability.   The Fuji (orig - also made in Taiwan) has buzzing sound and vibration even on flat road.

An original equipment manufacturer (OEM) makes equipment or components that are then marketed by its client, another manufacturer or a reseller, usually under that reseller's own name. An OEM may make complete devices or just certain components, either of which can then be configured by the reseller.

The OEM has their own quality control, testing facilities and state of the art equipment. Unlike us, they do and produce things instead of ranting and yakking about things many do not understand.

My OEM bike build project brought me up close and personal with realities of bike shop business and the people in the industry.   I had the bike done by a bike shop in MM thinking that their skills are better off than in my hometown.  I was mistaken:

             1.  Not updated with new BB types, they do not even have press fit tool;
             2.  Unfamiliar with direct mount brakes.  They could not center the brake
                  and what they were doing were the same mistakes that I committed
                  BTW I got inquiries as to where I got my DM brakes -  kay Christy
                  at Quiapo
             3.  The other mechanic could not even get the left shifter function.

 Well, they are well versed in internal cabling.

The better mechanics are in Greenhills, Eastwood, and  Ortigas.  Dante of Lifecycle charges fair price.  I do not know about Bikezilla and Missing Link (Ka Amado?)

Is this post a Bad Influence (BI) over other kapadyaks (Recyclists)?

In my conversation with a fellow Recyclist at Wawa this evening, I learned that I could be a bad influence to other cyclists. Others have  been aspiring to build their dream bikes:  beautiful, eve super bike status -  light and fast just like the Bianchi I built. So far Joel is getting one;  then there  may be Jess and Engr. June.  Jimmy may be saving too. Echo plans to buy my Fuji.

One of those that I have infuenced to invest is Vhen Apran.  I advised him to get an alum Ridley at P15,000, buy an AmCla 350 sprint at P5,000..  Buy a Specialized helmet for P1,500 (which when VM Jun Vic compared to his  own helmet said was an exact  copy of the more expensive P11,500 orig helmet.)

And so many bike frames that costs  5 to 10x more than the OEM would likely get stock.  Even the new bikes of VM would not find many buyers. Why buy a P200 to 300k bike when you can build one with Durace groupset for just P100k.  

And so Bianchi and SWorks have their own agents at Customs to watch for OEM bikes.  But those who are dreamers will get their cheap carbon fiber frames.

My neighbor Long who is an MTB and mountaineer greeted me me while I was cleaning  our drainage and spoke about the Bianchi project.  He said some of his colleagues bought the cheaper carbon fiber OEM at 12k.  It figured in an accident and still stood tall.  It did not did not break down as others have speculated being not original.
