Rim brakes rb faster?

Wheels of Happiness

Here is comaprisonn of rim brakes rb vs disk brake.   Rim branke rb is faster.

What is is your experience

Because of lack of investment, my rbs (two ) are rim brakes.   So they are faster?

What do you do with your kalat? The parts left after the upgrade, sell them, give them away or assemble a new bike?

Wheels of Happiness

It is a big problem for me.  I could assemble a new RB with Ultegra 6600 group set, (but without the hood), No WS though, but with  bar, no fork, saddle, crank.    And restrospec crank GS, Zoom brake good enough to have an MTB, two wheels for 29 er.

If you sell them you can only do so at barat almost give away prices.

The same thing happens if you assemble a bike  But at least, a bike is functional and useful at once unlike parts in  bin or box.

But I all ready have 5 bikes, two more bikes would jam the bedroom.  So better leave things as they are?

Riding for strength pedalling at 50 t chainring all through out at RB, and 42 at MTB

Wheels of Happiness

Yesterday, I rode up to Morong using only 50t chainring.  Its same chainring on flats and hills.  For the hills it was 50 x  30     Today at quarry road, I road up hill using 42 x 32.   My legs and thights now ache.

At the steepest part, I downshifted to 32.    (No choice, otherwise the bike stops moving and fall)

I understand that is the rationale for the one by.   To use only one chain ring through out the shifting range.

What do you choose at number of teeth for the crank:  30, 32, 32, 34, 36, or 38.?

I would choose 34.   That would be the ideal gear for a RB and MTB especially for senior.
