Make highway crossings at foodstops and fruit stands safe

Wheels of Happiness

Yesterday, I nearly got stuck dead by a speeding Honda City at a Rizal town, while crossing the highway
walking to eat lunch.    As if I am just a duck or chicken crossing.

First the driver who could have seen me crossing should have slowed down.
Secondly there should be street signs or pedestrian lane across the highway
Thridly I should be aware of such a danger and did no cross if I saw all ready an oncoming traffic.

But many do not stop a pedestrian lane even if before a stop light or intersection.  What happened to
our motorists who just got a vehicle on instalment and act like a king who owns the road in utter disregard of LTO laws

a) THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE SHALL YIELD THE RIGHT-OF-WAY TO A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING THE ROADWAY WITHIN ANY MARKED CROSSWALK OR WITHIN ANY UNMARKED CROSSWALK AT AN INTERSECTION, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION

Have you ever experienced the following dangerous risky moves of motorists and pedestrians while biking and pissed off:

PEDESTRIANS:

1.  They cross the road with their backs to the in coming traffic. Hindi ba supposed to look to the left and
then to the right;  but majority dont.  Hindi itinuro sa primary and secondary schools?

2.  Tatawid pagbaba ng jeep.  Hindi muna tatabi at titingnan and dumarating na sasakyan.  Kaya nagkakabiglaan,, nagkakgagulatan

3.  Tatawid nga sa tamang lugar sa pedestrian lane, kaya lang kung kailan ka na malapit biglang tatawid, as if
may super brake ka to stop on time

4.  Sa mga nakatira sa Velasquez, biglang na lang lumalabas sa bahay  ang naninirahan, as if sala nila kalye

2.  Biglang titigil pag may pasaherong pumara:  sasakay o bababa
\
3.  Pipinahan ka gigitgitin maski maluwag ang kalye;

NARANASAN MO NA BA NA SA TAKBONG 50 KPH DINIKITAN KA NG RRCG PABABA
HILL SA BARAS?   o SA O NAG SAN AGUSTIN BUS AGUINALDO HIGHWAY COMING             FROM TAGAYTAY?

5.  Maitim na usok ng sasakyan, and then pag overtake sa iyo kung kailan nakatapat ang tambutso sa mukha
mo biglang aarangkada;   Puno ng usok mukha mo lungs at jersey

MGA MOTORSIKLO AT MOTOR TRICYCLE

1.  Overtaking from the right.  Alam nating illegal ito at delikadong move.   Maski nasa bike lane mo ikaw, lulusutan ka from the right.  Ang overtaking ay from the left

3.  Counterflow kung umaga at mabibilis pa.  Tumatawid sa lane divider

7. Racing2 nila at crossing over to the incoming traffic (tayo) even though there are two solid lines (bawal
   umovertake) very dangerous moves

1.  Ingat at alerto lagi sa pagbibike

Kapadyaks and Recyclists beware of pedestrians

Wheels of Happiness

Rizal Philippines   |  May 11, 2014

In my biking experience for the last 5 years, the most risk comes from pedestrians and we must be aware of pedestrians.  We cant afford to hurt nor injure them.  Most of them may lack awareness or training in safety, or being a good pedestrian:

1.  Most do not use the pedestrian lane although many are provided especially in busy streets;

2.  They can change their mind in the middle of an action:   may stop crossing, or may proceed, or change direction
