VM told me and he was able to talk to Ado that the reason for the crash in Antipolo, somewhere in one way lanes,when we were in Caliraya was a faulty derailleur that caused his chain to wrap around the rear wheel that caused a sudden stop that caused him to crash.
I think this happened to me at km 52 near the Baras Tanay boundary. The reason here was chain breakage that pulled the rear pulley away and oh yes, I too stopped suddenly. The good thing was the place where the accident happened was going uphill so the speed was not great.
But I was nearly rear ended by bikers from Binangonan.
So guys watch for those chains - check if they are loose, check the nuts, cables of your derailleur, if some of them are coming off...

Man this is steep; very steep; steeper than Kennon, or even worse than M (Bitukang Manok) Two Recyclists struggle walking and guiding their bikes uphill.
We had long, wet, and challenging ride yesterday to Majayjay Laguna, fellow rider Jeff Arquiza. His parents who have house and farm there. It took us 2 hours to arrive at their place; and 6 hours from Angono.
The most challenging part of the ride was the km or so hill that all but 5 (Choco2, Jeff, Pres Luis, Idol and MTB Mario) of us use #42 gear. You are right. Using size 42 biking shoes to walk.

Gerry's flat at Caliraya

Rides would not be complete without spice of incidents/situations. Situations are spice of rides.
Some of the incidents:
1. Gerry had two flats. He replaced his flat tube with one that had 55 mm valve. I said Gerry's valve (tt) is long. He had one in Caliraya. The other one was in Pangil just before FAmy. When he had the right valve, no more flats took place

We had our Caliraya ride finally, yesterday on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law. It should have been last week but there was too much rain.

Building endurance for the Ride to #Caliraya this Sunday

We ride this Sunday to Caliraya via Cavinti despite the Mayweather fight (he is a cheat anyway. Remember how he KO'd an opponent on a break?)
For this I need to build my endurance and stamina. (and even strength) Yesterday afternoon, I rode to Cardona up to Callahan.
This morning, I had long ride. I rode up to Antipolo from 6 to 7:30 and had some office work until 9:00. Going up Antipolo, I saw a senior with a red, yellow and blue jersey just like mine. He overtook me at Marian Hills and I though I would not catch with him. However I saw him slow down at Beverly. Before Alta Vista, I overtook him. He overtook me at the curve, but before the crest, I did an interval and passed him again.

I biked this morning after attending the 6:00 mass in Sacred Heart Parish. On the way I saw a mountain biker near Tagpos whom I chased. All the while, I thought he was behind me. I found out at Darangan, that Pres Luis was the one who was actually following me. Then at Calumpang highway, I saw Armin join us. I stopped at Montevideo because I have job. But I tried to bike hard and join their pace.
I learned that they will go as far as Bugarin. There will be long ride according to Caliraya, according to Pres Luis. I dare say that I lack mileage and endurance

Practice Ride to Caliraya and Cavinti

I just got yesterday a text from Luis that we will ride to Caliraya- Cavinti and then back, an estimated distance of l80+ according to him. It is about 8l km from Angono to Caliraya, according to Google direction (which you can use on this page) + 3.9 km to Cavinti. one way so that is just l70 km both ways.
So I did not realize that it is that far. See you guys. Assembly starts at 4:30 am and take off is 5:30 aat Unishoppe. Damage contribution is Pl00.00.
