Is Coffee a Performance Enhancing Drug (PED)?

The "Food Pharmacy" by Jean Carper on Caffeine as Performance Enchancer

Caffeine is not just in coffee!

I uaed to wonder as to why famous local PHL energy drinks contain so much caffeine ( 133 mg up to equivalent of 4 cups) and why an author on cycling,  Dr. Arnie Baker recommends drinking coffee before a TT.?  Cafffeine is not just in coffee;  so much of it in energy drinks..(together with Ginseng, ginko giloba, and taurine)

Now I you know.

Caffeine as performance enhancer?

It was found out from page  172 of Carper's book that caffeine is a form of  PED? that caffeine in coffee improves endurance of individuals vs. fatigue.  It improves the amount of time we can perform physically exhausting work.  Thus competitive cyclists given 330 mg of caffeine pedaled 7% harder and endured 20% longer without them noticing it.

For other sports in  a study of 80 subjects, 250 mg of caffeine resulted in the following:

 Other  sports  performance improvements:

54% in long jump;

80% in 100 meter sprint,

60% in shot put.

When will they consider caffeine as PED and ban taking this in international competition.?

In the mean time, go to Dunkin donuts,, McCafe, buy 3 in l, Starbucks, Figaro, buy cafeng barako and keep on going to Pisong Cafe.
